Does anybody know of a good article explaining this?
One of my questions - After a carb reload while following a low carb diet, how do I know if/when I’ve depleted my glycogen stores?
For example: Before a carb reload, I weigh 200lb glycogen depleted. After the reload I weigh 210lb. In 2 - 3 days after a couple workouts I weigh 200 again - does this mean I’ve depleted my stores?
150 lb man @ 12% body fat was was estimated to store 2500 cals in glycogen, 125gish in the liver, 500gish in the muscles, at least that was presented in my ex phys class. That’s under 2 lbs. You won’t be able to check glycogen depletion by weight. If you’ve done enough depletion work and stuck to the diet, you’ll be depleted, simple as that… 2 full body workouts for 10+ reps @ 6 sets a body part per workout should be enough.
But glycogen holds water right?
Let’s say for example that I weigh 200lb 100% carb depleted (or as close as it gets)on Sunday morning and do a carb reload that day. Monday morning, I weigh 210lb, which I know is water weight. After my workouts Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday morning I weigh 200lb again.
Since glycogen holds water, does that mean that since I lost the 10lb water weight that there is no longer glycogen to hold it? Or is it more complicated than that?
