The key thing here is ATHLETICISM. It’s not a powerlifting or bodybuilding competition.

But you need to be strong too, not so?
The tryouts are a joke. 3 of the guys that I train strongman with sometimes went to the tryouts last year. They basically were told they were too big. These guys are LW competitors! We are talking about guys 5"10 and 225lbs. What a fucking joke. I lost all interest in the show after I heard this. I’m so glad I didn’t go with them, they waited in line over 4 hours and didn’t even get to tryout!
Monopoly

Probably because they will actually be worthy - if not better - opponents for the gladiators.

Now you did it. You said strong. That might mean lifting heavy shit and we all know lifting heavy shit make you non-fuctional.
(eye roll)
yes - yes - I think I read that somewhere once.

I’d completely destroy them if they let me on that shit… they want marketable people that just happen to accidentally beat the gladiators they dont want anyone on actual par with them.
dude just cause you can do a lot circuits and pullups doesnt mean youre gladiator material.
A sarcasm tag would be appropriate here
Thing is, he’s probably serious.[/quote]
um, yeah i am. do you think being big and strong is some kind of disadvantage? do you think youre going to be moving someone whos that much bigger than you? this isnt an MMA match its American Gladiators. lets put Jens Pulver against Terry Tate and see who wins in that steel ball shit. yes this is a game where being bigger and strong wins. not where being able to jump rope for 45 minutes gives you an advantage.

Not disagreeing on that, but do you know how Xen looks?
Well if you check his profile his weight is listed as something like walks around at 170 fights at 155 so ive got a decent idea. i checked his profile for stats immediately after i read his remarks.
I don’t know Xen, but I feel the same way about my chances so I can’t knock what he says. I’m 5’9" 180 pretty lean, I’m fast, strong can jump through the roof and I’m pretty agile. I won’t say I’d destroy those cats but I feel I’d give any of 'em a a hell of a challenge. How does one tryout?

I wouldn’t say being strong is a disadvantage but I would say being big is, in the grand scheme of the game. Being big and strong would be an advantage against the gladiators but would be a disadvantage during the eliminator. From the episodes I’ve watched it’s the smaller guy who wins. The fastest time done by a guy on the eliminator so far is what 1:24 with most guys around 2:00, which would suggest to me it’d be about the equivalent of running an 600m. Last I checked there weren’t many good 400/800 runners weighing over 200 pounds.
i may not be over 200 but im only a couple pounds short and im fast as hell.
Mike O’hearn (titan) squats 750+ and has deadlifted over 800 raw…
