I have lifted for 3 years and have always taken a week off every 2 months. I seem to end up with a lot of joint pain. Do u guys lift constantly or take a break? Might have a lot to be with being 55.
make sure you are taking proper supplements for your joint pain such as Fish oils, MSM, chondrotin, glucosomine. Taking a break helps some people. I personally do not take planned breaks, but my life gets busy enough were i do not have time to get to the gym for serious workouts. But i do stay active during the breaks and do some bodyweight exercises and cardio.
it seem like alot of competitive lifters do a ‘de-load’ or recovery week as often as every fourth week. I think it just depends on how hard you push, and your own personal recovery needs.
1 week every 8 or 9 seems reasonable to me…
