How old is your little girl?

Have you practiced with one hand at all?
That is a very high goal to aim for ( pun intended ), no?

I would imagine with the adrenal system pumping your CNS will be intensely fired up and make you more likely to miss.

Good thing you have a mag with 17 rounds!

She is 2.5 months. She is in my hub photo section should you care to take a peek at her. Mom’s always take the chance to show off their young.
Oh my God you just popped her out!
No wonder you said you couldn’t see yourself putting her down; you just carried her inside you for 9 months!
Congratulations you did it!

Oh wow. She is so so cute…the picture captures a delicious smile and she may be little but she is all joy!

Oh my goodness, your maternal instincts must be on overwhelm…it is perfectly understandable not wanting to put her down. When you said it, I did think she might be 6 months and under. At 2 months your arms have just probably replaced the umbilical cord…she is probably in them a lot of the time and that gives you a keen awareness of her vulnerability. Their necks don’t even have much strength to hold their heads up.

Absolutely trust your maternal instincts, no matter what suggestions we make here.

I think you could try to shoot with one hand just to get a feel for it and see how you do.

How about if you think you can put baby Maya down, can you put her between your legs, cheek to the ground, so this way you can squat low and pick her up by her clothes without hurting her neck?

So you squat down place her between your legs, legs hip width apart take the shot/shots, when done, squat down grab her by the clothes upper back near her neck and immediately place her against your chest moving your hand to support the neck and using your forearm to support the rest of her body.

So the gun remains pointed at the threat and you can put her down and pick her up in a squat motion.

Just a thought.

Again, use your maternal instinct and always protect her neck however you move her in an emergency situation.

The video on the Assegai Spear which is the one I got is only available on the DVD that came with the purchase unfortunately.

So here is a picture of my spear and all the knifes.

The spear on the buffalo video prior was the Samburu.

I like both. But don’t think I will be attaching either to my paddle board. :)
Be aware that you do not carry those blades concealed. I was looking into the legality of the double edged blades, as they are not legal to carry in Michigan and ran across this site http://knife-expert.com/fl.txt

I believe you said you are in Florida correct?
Yes, thank you!

My husband did tell me.
He actually wanted the Espada XL because he thought it would qualify as a “pocket knife” but does not think he can get away with it because the XL is so overpowering size wise.
Jackie_Jacked wrote:

Those are really beautiful! Do you collect them or you actually know how to use all of them? I’m sure I know the answer to that already. lol

The video was spectacular also. Do you hunt at all?
I have had them strategically placed in cupboard on the hallway, by the front and kitchen and back door and one in the bedroom.
I have no problems if I have to use them for self-defense.

I have stabbed cardboard boxes to practice with the knifes, sliced the original package for the spear, used the tomahawk ( not in picture: it’s in his collection ) to cut wood for my neighbor and loved it.
She said I was very good at it and had very good hand-eye coordination.

I only just got the spear and have not had an opportunity to practice yet due to being injured.

I want to take up hunting! I have only been in America for 2 years - what a great country for outdoor activities!
In England both guns and knifes are banned. When I arrived in America I thought how lucky you all were to have the freedom to have both!

Husband and I are going to do so this summer as we have kindly been invited to go hunting in Montana with Pushharder. We are both really looking forward to it!

I will be taking the spear, and between now and then will try to find some wooded area where I can practice throwing and clearing the way with it.

I can imagine it will be a tremendous work out.

If I had to live less dependent on civilization, I can tell you now that I would be ok physically and psychologically ( except for missing a good hot shower and toilet paper ).

Actually, Batman would have a thing or two to say about this to give you insight on why violence, aggression. strength and other qualities that are normally associated with the masculine role of the protector are now interpreted always under a negative light in our society.

It’s legal in MD. That does not mean the police will not take it it just means you will get it back.

lol! Yes, I did just “pop her out” and thank you for your kind words, they are very heart-warming.

Almost certainly the hormonal shift is the drive behind my inherent need to protect her even though there isn’t an eminent danger present. That’s a very good analogy about the arms replacing the umbilical chord also! It is decidedly true.

After I am comfortable shooting my gun then I am going to try to implement your suggestions - they are good and reasonable. You are a smart lady and I hope that nobody ever messes with you because, I fear, you are a force to be reckoned with and I mean that in a complimentary way.

This is the way to live, IMO – be prepared for anything but in a confident way, not out of fear of paranoia.

That was very kind of you to help your neighbor. Although I’ve never chopped wood, I’m certain that it takes a great deal of hand-eye coordination. It’s been an observation on my part that people I know that have to chop their wood are always in great shape also.

My mistake as I thought you had injured yourself while out with your spear or that it was related somehow.

Now, I did know that you were originally from Brazil and had lived in England but I didn’t realize you had been here for only two years. My own date of entry to the US was November 18, 2011 and I love it here. It’s the best country for everything. It is indeed the land of freedom compared to what we were both used to. Isn’t it wonderful?

I’m so excited for you about your hunting trip to Montana. It will be an exhilarating experience, no doubt. Hopefully you will share with us what you hunt.

I think I’d miss toilet paper and showers also but I’d try! You, I’m certain would fair just fine.

Batman always does have worthwhile to say and I do read his posts whenever I come across them although I haven’t seen him around a whole lot lately.

Thanks everyone for your contributions. I now have much to practice with and have broadened my horizons, which was my intention. Plus, I was just overjoyed to find another woman on the forums that had the same interests that I do as I’m used to being the only girl lost in a group of guys. Not too many girls like lifting weights, guns, and appreciate the freedoms of America the way that we do.

If Alpha F would like to share her experiences with her new gun or spear or many knives, that would be most excellent. Should I have something new to update with, I will also.

You have penis envy

If this were true, I’d have a MG because then it’d come with a bi-pod.

A nifty carry device for females that I originally thought was stupid was the bra holster. Pretty slick and very well concealed.

(Video is safe for work.)

So… who is the other person in those pictures Push?

Yeah, but you need store bought tits for it to work.

For you older ladies just tuck it into your pants waist.

Jackie - Congrats on the beautiful baby girl. You’ll be back in fighting shape in no time. And thank for your kind words about my physique progress on my Jelena thread. I stopped posting there because in typical Tnation fashion if got way off topic. Anyway, that’s pretty sweet to have anyone pair my name with her’s. Thank you.

I’m not a gun enthusiast, but I grew up in rural environment where everyone has hunting rifles, at least. Some of that is a matter of practicality in a ranching community. I don’t have an interest in hunting, but I have put down a few tin cans and clay pigeons in my time. I’m not afraid of guns, unless one’s pointed at me.

I have wondered why more women aren’t pro 2nd amendment. I consider myself a bit of a feminist, although usually from a more moderate point of view. This is a generalization, but we all know that even an untrained man is nearly always physically much stronger than the average woman.

Case in point, I have trained for over two years to be super proud of my 110 pound bench press. LOL! Even my 17-year-old son who has never lifted could quickly subdue me physically if we wanted to.

As a small woman, my only hope would be to stay far enough away from an assailant to not let them touch me. Once someone was close enough to grab me, it’s over. You’d think more women would see the opportunity to have a gun as an equalizer. Now physical size and strength doesn’t matter. Equality. WHOOT!

I assume a lot of people buy into the ridiculous notion that they are actually safer without a weapon, since it will most likely be used on them. There are no numbers to actually back that up, but that doesn’t seem to stop people from believing it.
Powerpuff wrote:

Me, too.

Sam Colt’s Pistol was called “the Great Equalizer” and most of the early women’s suffragists credited the pistol (reasonably cheap, easy to use, effective) as one of the great, practical, reasons why women became equal in the United States.

I also note that some models of the Great Equalizer came with 8 shots, much to the chagrin of the idiots who governs New York state and city.

So far the experience is waiting. :frowning:
Should be able to go to the range this weekend, hopefully.

We received the HK and as soon as we got home he went straight into cleaning, dissembling, sonicating it, greasing, polishing, reassembling, then experimenting with the grip…

The grip fit me perfect! Doesn’t get more ergonomic than this.
Great engineering and manufacturing, I say.

It was really a pleasure to see the husband with that simple happiness that only men know how to have with their chosen hobbies.
Funny thing is I love the action part of things but I don’t experience the joy in looking after the equipment - to men it is like their babies.

We got the bullets today and off he goes again…by the way we already found difficult to buy them: locally we found nothing and went back to Cheaper Then Dirt and they are sold out!

Do you know how to clean the gun yet?

My husband seems to be going to through a very thorough procedure, including a lubricant in white powder form.
( Graphite is a dark form of this lubricant )

I want to ask where you are form but am also intrigued as I don’t have a clue.

I tend to think Australian but don’t see any clues in your English.
Then my second guess would be eastern European ( Russian? )
Then German/Austrian?

And yes, let’s hope America fights for their freedom!
