Girl With the Most Cake

I made it back home due to lots of luck and some poor schmuck who lost his seat out of SFO by showing up just after they closed the airplane door behind me. Kimba profits from the misfortunes of others yet again.

My desk is a complete mess as is the house and I probably won’t be back here to check out what you guys have been up to until later…[/quote]

we forgive you darlin

It’s a lot of fun checking out new gyms. We periodically travel around the area to different commercial gyms just for a change of scenery. I have to admit I just like to people watch and miss it a lot training at home. That was a nice compliment you got. I still remember one day last year when I was training alone in a commercial gym and worked up to a bunch of singles at 295 squatting and this guy just sat and watched my the entire time. I’m still not certain that he didn’t head into the mens room to rub one out. He did kind of have that look about him. Still it was better than the time I got squat advice from some jojo 1/4 squatting with the tampon on the bar. Damn I miss it

Nice pressing too. How do you get 1/2lb? We have 1 1/4 plates and I love them.

I’m glad you were able to be there for your friend and I bet she appreciated it too. I’m sure it’s nice to be home though.

Things are looking a bit better today, but I still have a ton o’crap to wade through before leaving for vacation next Friday night on the overnighter to Amsterdam. This funeral came at a bad time, but do they ever come at a good time?

N., thanks for saying hey!

O, I would have watched you squatting singles at 295 with the exact same look. Srsly, I know EXACTLY the look that you are talking about. I’m alright with it, but I think it would’ve freaked me out at a younger age. It does the old ego good. I got the 1/2 lb. using my set of fractional plates that I got from Iron Woody. They are AWESOME when you are me and struggling for every ounce. There are two 1/4s, two 1/2s, two 3/4s and two 1s in the set, so pretty much any fractional combination is possible.

There are some points in a friendship where true friends just have to show up. This was one of those times, and I’m glad I was able to do what was right.

Just showing up means more than money or flowers.

Quoted for truth.

glad you were able to be there for your friend and more glad that you are home safe. that’s great you got to hit the gym during a rough time out of town, and a big hell yeah to your compliment.

did i miss what you have planned for your trip? i hope this is a vacation for you!

^bitch is going to Amsterdam right? (take me wid you pleaze!!! I’ll make myself tiny in your suitcase.lol)

edit: just backtracked a few pages and I can’t find the reference to Amsterdam, am I nuts?

Betty and Greeney, you are so right. Money and flowers are no substitute for a hug and a supportive presence.

T and N, yep – bitch is goin’ to Amsterdam on vacation! Also, the hubby and I plan to spend a couple of days in Brussels to celebrate our 20th anniversary. (how did that happen??) I plan on eating mussels in Brussels just to say that I did (plus mussels are delicious).

Yesterday’s training was extremely weak. All the jet lag and lack of sleep totally caught me.

I am desperate for a bicycle ride, but I am stuck making up last week’s missed work plus its rainy today. bleh…

weather’s been crappy in french country too. you just need some rest. your super-woman is asking for some time out -listen.and yeah for Amsterdam!!

Whats important is that you got back to it even if you weren’t rested. You’ll be busting numbers soon enough.

she wears thongs, she lifts weights, she’s an awesome friend (e and irl), and shes been married for 20 fucking years.

more proof toward my theory that awesome and crazy go hand in hand lots of times.

(not bad crazy though.)

oh and the work will get done, one piece at a time. if not, start firebombing.

N., lets just hope its a great weekend – my forecast is good and I hope yours is too.

Joe, I wish rest weren’t so damn important!

CBear, thanks darlin’. Since my idea of working today includes a lunch break at a very nice restaurant and my nicoise salad just arrived (ahi tuna slices, egg, over salad with lemon vinegarette on the side) its time to sign off. Then back to document-land…

Its amazing what a good night’s sleep will do. I felt much better in the gym today then on Wednesday.

5/3/1 - Wave 8, Week 3 - Sumo Deadlift Day

off risers:
85# 1 x 5
105# 1 x 5
off floor:
135# 1 x 5 <–working
153# 1 x 3 <–working

Not a PR, but the reps were prettier than the last time I attempted this weight.

135# with bands 3 x 3

Kroc Rows
45# 2 x 9
1 more rep than last time

Bulgarian Split Squats
17.5s 3 x 11

God I fucking hate these. Single leg work is good for me, but it sucks ass. Supersetted with

Neutral Grip Pullups
2/2/3

Kind of weak, must train these more.

Face Pulls
22.5# 3 x 15

Then home for dinner – grass fed hamburgers with carmelized onions.

I think you should get into a tussle, while eating mussels, in brussels. Now that would be a story.

Nice training. Enjoy the vay-k.

I bet you’ll have a great time in Amsterdam. I hope you have the opportunity to drive around the country side a bit. Have you spent much time in Europe? My ex husband told me about his trip to Amsterdam and a hash brownie and the subsequent inability to turn left while walking for a few hours. Youth.

Nice deads.

I envisioned feeding little burger patties grass.

You’ll have a blast in Amsterdam. It’s a beautiful city with, ahem, lots to see and experience if you so choose.

Great training Kimba! Those Kroc rows are serious!

Glad you’re hitting the weights eventho things sound a bit hectic right now. Preparing for a trip can be a pain in the ass.

Funny, when you say “mussels from brussels” I immediately think Jean Claude Van Damme.

Bon voyage!

jack, you make a fine suggestion. It will be a play-tussle, though. The best kind.

O, this will be our third trip to AMS so we are familiar with the delights. We bring bicycles with us and spend lots of time riding around and seeing the sights. The exercise also helps with keeping one’s weight manageable whilst eating like a pig. My particular problem in Amsterdam is the vlaamse frites with mayo.

We try to take a summer vacation in Europe every year as we both have lots of family there. This trip, however, is just us.

Snapper, I see what you did there… And, I always choose to experience everything. Life’s short and we’ll be dead for a long-ass time.

Maschy, thanks for the encouragement! I struggle so much with Kroc Rows, but I know they are good for my deadlift. You apparently love male physiques better than seafood, and who can really blame you?!?!

I’m envious. I wanna be like you when I grow and take vacations like that. And have time with the hubby, never seem to get enough of that.

I tried BSS’s once and promptly gave up on them - the bottom of my raised foot cramped, what’s up with that? I guess I need to attempt them again along with pistol squats
