I don’t fault you for not giving up on these people, but the other side of the coin is that you’re not responsible for them either. If they choose to fuck their lives up, it’s their choice, no matter how much you may try to influence them otherwise.

I think you’d be well served to distance yourself from them somewhat and focus on your own needs. And if your own needs include “fixing other people”, that’s something you need to address. Leading from the front/by example is fine, but actually trying to change/help/fix someone else is almost always a losing proposition.
