Getting too much Testosterone?

I was on 100mg weekly and had my Testosterone at a little over 800.

I then asked my doctor what he thought about trying to get me to the upper boundary range (around 1200)

He said OK, and upped me to 150mg per week.

Several weeks later, I am experiencing depression.

But I am not sure if its because of the testosterone, because I have a long history of depression, and am on prozac, and seeing a psychiatrist.

I’m not experiencing any other side effects of too much testosterone besides the depression.

For example, this says
Hypergonadism is very rare. Symptoms include early puberty, acne, excessive muscle mass and mood swings. Breast tissue growth and unusual body hair growth are other signs of hypergonadism.
I am not experiencing any of that.

Is there any way to determine if the depression is caused by the testosterone increase?

How did you feel at 800? If it resolved your low T symptoms then why mess with it? You might have crossed you genetic setpoint… so now all that extra T is spilling into estradiol.

Are you on an AI along with the testosterone? If so, did the doc up that as well?
I have depression and the only thing that ever cleared it up was actually TRT. All of the SSRIs that I tried made shit worse.

If you were at 800, why would you bother with anything? It also goes to show that your doc is very lax. My doc would never put me on more medication simply because I feel like taking more.

People regard treating hypogonadism as some type of experiment.

And yes, you can experience overemotionality from taking too much. That’s what happened to me when I tested at 1500, an abnormally high value.

Bricknyce: How long did it take for you to start feeling better from TRT? I did my first 100mg injection 5 days ago and I felt pretty uncomfortable about 48 hours after the shot. But then again I have felt bad for about a year up until now. Today I don’t feel as stressed out so maybe it’s working?

More is not better because it will upset thyroid and adrenal function. It can also increase e2 which can cause severe depression and other unpleasant side effects. Takes 4-5 weeks to reach plasma levels. Takes 6 months to a year to repair damage from low T for so many years. Cells recylce every 120 days so levels need to be consistant for that long at least.

BETTER in a month. BEST after about six months.

It took about a year for my normal libido to come back. Now it’s fucking insane - stronger than before I had hypogonadism - and I had a pretty strong one before this all happened to begin with. I’m usually very private about sexual matters–unlike the attention mongers in SAMA–but I feel I have to share that the orgasms I have had while on Androgel are insane sometimes - much stronger than before this all happened.

I have heard that sometimes the gels are better for fixing sexual issues because they provide more DHT. Depends on the person I guess. I have also heard that shots are better for people with low T joint problems, which I have big time. Of course these are all anecdotal accounts. So we’ll see what happens in my case. I need to be patient!

I’ve gone through a roller coaster with T-Cyponiate. For a while my doc prescribed me 200mg every two week and the first week I felt good but by the middle of the second week I was dead. I actually went in for some blood work on the Friday of week 2 and my T-level actually dropped to 196. I begged her to let me take it once a week and instead she bumped me to 400mg every two weeks. Again, first week awesome, second week felt like crap. Went for another blood test and my T-level came back at 1,400; that time I went for my test four days after I took the dose. I finally went to a specialist and he has me on 200mg once a week. I go for my first blood work since the change next Wednesday but so far so good. I haven’t noticed any decreas in libido yet, but I do seem to need some recovery time if my wife and I have more frequent intimacy over two days. I didn’t use to have that problem and I don’t consider 33 old but who knows… LOL

Thanks for sharing your experience because alot of guys are experiecing the same thing. I evenhad a guy on 400 mgs months !! He travalled alot so the dr just for good measure gaave him another 400 mgs 2 weeks after the last injetion and gave him armidex to take at high dosages. He was an emotional wreck grown man crying in the office was about to give up on life He was a high rolling businessman that needed to be sharp at his job and could barely function.

After making few minor adjustments and giving him a reassurance that he was in properly treated and that when things level out he will feel good again he left with a huge smile. This is just one of the many examples of simple modification that can result in life changing moments. Seeing changes like this and making a huge difference in peoples life is why I am the field I am in.

Its all about helping people and seeing them desire the quality of life they deserve. I would rather spend quality time with a person giving them my complete attention then having in an out like revolving door like most.

Read the stickies.

Understand T+AI+hCG

If you do not check E2, you are flying blind. T only TRT can really fail.

Pay attention to what KSMAN said, he used few words but he said a lot.

I like 300mg T but I read that it is hard on your organs. I went down to 100
like everyone else does sensibly here and well I also quit my job and started
sleeping at night instead of working all night but my libido went thru the roof.

I was on another steroid which is catabolic - prednisone and I had some hair loss
for the first time so now that I am thru all that and I was down to 100mg T I
kicked it up a notch and have not been lifting but building a giant $1500.00 Gorilla
play area for my daughter and I am pumped and liking it. I’ll need to back it down
here in a couple weeks but I wanted to get my weight back after that brutal 3 months
of prednisone.

But I always raised my anti-estrogen with my rising exogenous T increases.

Primarily I like T for what it does for my head, makes me want to explore technology
and get things done, makes it impossible for me to listen to my daughter talk about
mixing and matching outfits. Secondarily I was always a lean muscular fit guy with a
big chest and hey I may be 46 and have grey hair but I see no reason not to be as
muscular as I was in my youth.

Read up on the protocol and say goodbye to your blues.

What’s your age if you don’t mind me asking, just curious to see how you differ.

I have blood work this Wed and next week I meet with my doctor. I’ve been on 200mg of T-Cyponiate once a week and am a little concerned about it’s affect on other organs. I guess I will findout the results next week. What is your level at?

Thanks for the info Ksman, I will bring that along with me next week.

200 mgs a week is way too much which can cause change reaction with thyroid and adrenals. Even on 120 mgs a week this was causing a huge imbalances with my thyroid and adrenals. My levels were great, but still felt like crap. I had cortisol salviva done and my levels where none existance. Once i got the adrenals adjusted my thyroid was working better and my symptoms of fatigue and mental fogginess completely resolved in matter of a months time. I felt improvement with in matter of few days on cortef.
