Getting to a 400 lb. Deadlift

BAHAHAAA!!!

I am reluctant to enter a powerlifting meet cause I’m NOT strong enough yet

BW:170
DEADLIFT: 405x3 (touch and go)
SQUAT: 365 (yes, I get to parallel)
BENCH: 245 (Why yes, I do suck at benching :stuck_out_tongue: )
you’re strong enough. now stop the excuses, get on the platform and do it. no one cares about your total and you’ll find everyone very supportive of your efforts. that’s the way PL is.

X2 just do it, You will get hooked!

I am the weakest person at my gym and I can dead 600lb.

Ok, thanks.

I see the point, but it still feels a bit silly. But well, I read about some gym that banned water bottles so…
It’s definitely silly.
Basically, when a gym bans chalk, it is sending the message that the appearance of the gym is more important than the members’ results. Not exactly a good sign.

BIG reason why I dropped the BB training and now focus on PL.

The other lifters at my gym have 617.5lb, 640lb and 720lb. I have 601lb. This has given me a very skewed view of strength in the real world. hahaha

You workout at a gym with only 4 people? If that’s a private gym then what was the point of posting you’re the “weakest person at your gym”?

Were you trying to show off?

There are other reasons for posting on the internet? Interesting…

I am the strongest person in my home gym.

If you keep reading past the numbers you will answer your own question.

CB/Brad,

Make it a 3 way battle if you get serious about this action. About 50 pounds off right now, but that 550 wall is thickkkkkkkk to break through. It will be done though.
Alright you fuckers, I’m game. I know Hercules-Rocks wants in too.

You both are around 550, and Herc is @ 520 I believe correct? Last time I pulled a single was like a year ago, and it was a clean 505 or something.

I need something simple to focus on with the baby coming and Tax season starting both in January. My gym time may be limited, and if I pretty much focus on pulling and shoulders for the next 6 months I’ll be okay with myself, seeing as twice a week lifting might have to do until after April between an infant and at work/working 70-90 hours a week.

Here is what I’m thinking for ground rules:

 1. Gentleman’s challenge - Video of breaking 600lbs pull required, but ball busting about form is up to submitter. We are all adults, and a little ramping is okay, but be honest and if you look like old school diesel weasel it doesn’t count. No need to be PL meet strict, this shit is just for fun anyway. As for starting point, I don’t have a problem taking people’s word for it.

 2. Extra Ball Washing - we’ll give some nut rubbing to the lifter with the highest % increase after someone gets the 600 (or we all end up pussies and quit, lol). (This is the only condition I have a chance of winning, so I feel like tossing it out there, lol)

 3. We are all fat  - I’m pretty sure we are all north of 230lbs right? (Maybe not BL, but I sure as shit am, and I think Herc and Brad are too.) So fuck weight classes. (If other people want in, we can argue all that shit too.

 4. ANyone can Douglas - Do you wanna just do it in this thread, make a new one… Whateve’s doesn’t matter to me. I know some people with big pulls (bodyguard cough cough) hang out in GAL, but I don’t give a shit were we put it. Although I would feel like a whore posting in the PL’ing section, seeing as I know dick about PL’ing outside of move heavy shit…

What cha think?

Son of a bitch!!!

I thought Cali Law was back.

Where did all the old school dudes go?

I’m in, in, so fucking in. Weight-wise, I’m well south of you fat bastards, but agree that weight classes shouldn’t be taken into account. Probably a new thread is in order, seeing as the title of this one doesn’t fit the bill. Opening post should lay out a few rules and we post progress along the way. Maybe a video of the starting 1RM lift would be a good idea. I’m down with whatever.

x2. Just keep some of the baby’s bibs nearby. I hear they are great for soaking up tears when somebody beats you to 600. Kidding of course; congrats on the future baby beans.

haha, thanks. RE: the ball busting, it is half the fun. It would be boring without ribbing.

Okay, so that is 3 of us, and I’m sure Herc-Rocks is down when he sees this.

What do we want for ground rules?

Can’t think of many, that’s the beauty of the deadlift.

 1. Can be either conventional or sumo
 2. Belt allowed, no suit or weird shit like that. Straps are fine for this IMO. I have other places to be a douchebag PL purist
 3. Stand it up straight without excessive humping, set it down
 4. Profit or something to that effect
