so… Im on a weight gaining program
so basically high calories, high protein, high intensity program…
Ive noticed that my abs weren’t as ripped as before, they weren’t that ripped anyway, but I seem to have lost some definition.
My question is
to get ripped abs.
you obviously need both of underlying muscles, and less/minimal/no fat on top of these muscles.
so is it 50/50 or if you have some basic muscle, getting rid of the fat will get you ripped…
and also, with the current training program and goals that I have , is it possible to get ripped abs, or should I wait until Ihave reached my ideal weight so that I can get rid of the bf, as I have been told by many that while trying to gain weight, you will put on a bit of bodyfat.
so is gaining weight and being ripped mutually exclusive???
Gaining muscle and losing fat are not mutually exclusive. Both can be done at the same time. If you have low enough bodyfat, you don’t need to have very strong abdominal muscles to get a 6 pack. I’ve heard you should be able to back squat your bodyweight in order to have a six pack (a pretty easy benchmark). I’ve seen lots of skinny kids who can’t even do that and still have 6-pack abs.
well Im on a weight gain program… weight has gone up slightly but so has the bodyfat… it used to be about 13.5% now its about 15.5% which I am not too worried about but since summer is coming up Ireally want to the best I can in terms of abs…
my trainer said, keep up your current program…
try this… for 2 weeks eat only green veges for veges and no breads/pastas/rice etc. and I guranrtee you will get more ripped…
Sorry I dont do metric too well. What i got is your 5’5" and 139 lbs? Are you sure ya really want to cut out fat? If your goals are just to get abs thats what you’ve got to do, or you could just try to get bigger. I find that theres just as many girls that like a guy that doesnt have a six pack but looks big.
Personally I don’t like to be smaller then my girlfriend (she’d have to be obese at this point). I see a bunch of skinny guys like anorexic going out with girls that are bigger then them. The girls are hot, just not that petite hot, the big ass nice curves hot.
Im a short shit and nothing is going to change that but I am currrently looking for some decent size so another 25 pounds would be good
so my current program is set to that…
however, I want to be ripped at the same time so looking for advice which won’t harm my training to get ripped…

I was under the impression that if you have a good diet, and then do compound exercises like squat and deadlift, abs will come.[/quote]
Abs will come but it all depends on your calorie intake. It’s hard to build strength and muscle on a calorie deficit and that’s what’s needed to show your abs.
OP, start learning more about diet. You can gain strength and muscle while losing fat but it’s complicated. Here’s how: http://drsquat.com/articles/zigzag.html

I’m an iinch or two taller then you, and I’m at 165. I’m a scrawny little bastard. You won’t be happy after just 25 pounds, trust me.
