It’s lifestyle dieting with two 24-hr fasts per week.
That’s really all there is to it; and I’m only providing this because he wrote in his newsletter that it’s alright to share that information from his 40- to 50-buck (forgot exactly what I paid) ebook.
His ebook has the details of WHY it works (for those of us who care about why it works). It also comes with a lot of audio clips.
I’m down to 199 pounds, and plan on continuing until I get down to 180 something (getting big doesn’t suit me anymore and I want to fit into some things I couldn’t fit into when I was bigger.)

Who here has changed from eating six meals per day to three?
I now consume about 2,700 to 3,000 calories per day over three meals in addition to fasting twice per week for 24 hours.
And I’m having a blast and a load of pressure is off me!
Who here has gone back to big eat only a few times per day?
How do you feel?
By the way do you supplement with BCAA?
Nope, and never will. Nor do I supplement with anything at the moment. But my goals are different than many here. I actually want to be SMALLER at this point. I’m concerned with general fitness, weight control, and health.
No powders, no capsules, no PWO nutrition (unless I’ll too long after my work before eating).

For those of you who aren’t eating 6-8x a day: What are your goals? Are you all cutting weight or trying to maintain leaness?
From what I can gather that seems to be the case. I don’t see too many big dudes claiming they do this. And by big I mean 220lbs+
Dude, have you ever been to a powerlifting gym. There are some VERY large men not eating every three hours (300+ lb men).
Dave Tate reached over 275 pounds eating three large meals per day. Powerlifter Donnie Thompson (I think he reached almost 400 lbs or over) ate TWO meals per day sometimes.
Mike Phelps, the swimmer, gets 10,000 kcals in THREE sittings.

I must be blessed, I seem to be the only one in the world who enjoys eating 6 meals a day. Then again I can eat the same thing every day and not get tired of it… I think I’ve bought the same unflavored 2.5lb pork tenderloin once a week for about 15 weeks straight now.
I was like that for ten years before coming close to mentally snapping!
I go by total caloric and protein amount now along with a lot of vegetables and a few fruits per day. I no longer fuss about macronutrient ratios. Is this ideal for a person hell bent on getting OPTIMAL results or competing in bodybuilding? Nope. Great for a guy who wants to keep in shape and stay lean or lose weight? I think so.
Actually, a lot of non-anal big guys do it like this anyway - get adequate protein and caloric amount. Anything else is fair game. I can’t be bothered anymore counting everything. I keep track of what I eat with Fit Day.
I also don’t have nervous breakdowns because I happened to enjoy SOME dishes that are not loaded with 40 to 60 grams of protein (eg, pizza, eggplant parmegan, falafel, the occasional visit to a vegetarian restaurant with one of my vegetarian friends, and so on).
Brad Pilon’s Intermittent fasting recommendation and my new diet has been working like a charm for weight loss. Plus it feels like my life has actually changed. (Not dramatizing here, as eating six times a day was in fact driving me nuts!)
Can you expand on this diet?
There’s not much to expand on. Brad Pilon’s diet for weight loss is just a flexible, lifestyle diet with two 24-hr fasts per week. And I share this here because in his newsletter he says purchasers of his ebook can spread this word. His book has the WHYS of his dietary recommendations.
I want to get down further in weight for ( as silly as it sounds) my new hobby of running, occasional ice skating, and the desire to fit in some clothing I can’t fit in at a high bodyweight (eg, some new jeans styles [my thighs once measured 28 inches - not my steez anymore]).
I did the RFL diet twice in the past year and half for 5 and 4 week stints (had great success). I tried it again two weeks ago, failed and quit! Two days into the diet, it infringed on my social life and fun and I said to myself, Fuckin’ shit–goddamn it! I was at a cocktail party with drinks and some awesome hor’deurvs (spelling?) and had to pass on everything and the women I conversed with all said (literally everyone of them!), “You don’t drink? You’re not eating anything?”
What I’m doing now will be a slower route, but I’m not willing to do it in more restrictive ways. I refuse to do anything nutritionally anymore that literally immobilizes me (stopping to eat six times per day) or makes life drudgerous (is this a word?) or less enjoyable.
The biggest improvement in my life when switching to IFing style and ditching the 6 meals a day thing, has been to my people skills in business. I found myself skipping work lunches or dinners and such a lot in the past. That’s not happening anymore.

LOL, I fucking hate that!
I used to get very irritated when I was more involved. Now I just go with the flow and do eat and drink (in moderation). I give great respect to those who are very hardcore and compete. It’s just not for me.

if you’re not competing and trying to cut weight I dont see anything wrong with having a drink or two if you’re out somewhere… or have desert after dinner if you feel like it.
if you’re that strict with your diet and you’re not competing then I think you’re more than likely being way too anal and you probably dont have a very fun/fulfilling life lol

That’s actually how I USED TO do things. And it did leave to an unfulfilling, unsatisfying life.

Yeah I hear ya on that. I know some people might lack self control so that could be an issue… but yeah the saying “live a little” is pretty fitting

A ripped up 5’10" 180something pound guy is “small” in bodybuilding terms but to the general public you’d look really good
Well especially if he’s enjoying running a good bit, 180 something is actually pretty big for a regular runnner. When I was running cross country and such in college, I was 162 lbs at 6’2. Skinny as hell, yes, but also fairly damn fast. Ends justify the means in certain sports.
I’m starting to consider this. I know I neeed bout 4200 calories to maintain right now…that would be very easy to do if split into 3-4 meals and a few drinks.
Brick, I’ve never been to a dedicated PL gym (none around me, ever) but I’d (obvioiusly) like to. All my guys I train/train with eat the same way 5-8x a day. Guess it’s just how we do things. Maybe I can change that all.

If you enjoy eating so many times per day and have the lifestyle that supports it, that’s alright too. Whatever works for people is good.

Hi B Rock,
I’m 240lbs @ 5’11", with the goal of getting stronger, adding muscle, and not becoming a fat ass. I eat 4 times a day @ about 900-1000 calories per meal.
It’s definately more convenient and satisfying for me. I find that of the larger muscled / strong guys I know personally, they tend to eat about 3-5 meals a day, and they’re definately not OCD about macros/calories/supplements like a lot of other people tend to be.
I agree that if a person’s goal is to be a highly ranked bodybuilder / strongman / maybe even powerlifter, that this MIGHT not be the optimal meal plan.

Yeah, it would be pretty heavy for a regular runner. But I’m just doing it for recreation and fitness and some socializing (go to some runners meetups after which people hang out).
I currrently lift twice (full body) and run four to five times per week.
