That was fantastic.
Yep! A thing that’s always stuck by me is no matrer how bad your day is, or how bad you feel, some ones probably going through worse right now.
How does that help you?
It shows that these things can be survived. That a life worth living can be found on the other side of any hardship.
I tended to find negative feedback loop from it all myself. When you are down and people tell you other people have it worse, it just makes you feel worse knowing that such now “minor” tragedy can beat you up so much.
Not to presume, but I imagine this is what @liftangryordie500 is getting at.
Are you referring to the video? If it’s the video, I find it inspiring because if a dude that can go from being super jacked and strong, to suddenly being weak and throwing up 50 times a day ( I want to die when I throw up once lol…) it inspires the fuck outta me that he didnt give up, he went to a new doctor every week and got constant tests when the doctors were constantly clueless and despite all of that he overcame it and trucked forward.
If it’s the: “no badder how bad you’re feeling, someone has it worse.”
I can see how it can create a negative feedback loop as @T3hPwnisher pointed out, but I use it as motivation because if people can still smile through Poverty, Famine, Disease, Starvation or disability etc then I can overcome Depression, Anxiety etc. Although sometimes I fail miserably at not being Depressed or my anxiety not fucking me over, i guess it can be a nice sentiment depending on how you view it
I haven’t watched that video so I don’t know if it includes the portion where they acknowledge that negative feedback loop. They make it pretty clear that everyone’s struggle, no matter how it can be perceived from the outside and compared to others, is uniquely that person’s and theirs to feel the full weight of.
I watched the video and it killed pretty much any excuse I could think of to complain about anything
Perspective becomes very distorted when people are severely depressed. That’s what makes it so difficult to deal with when it’s not properly treated.
Thanks for the info. I had no idea. Did I offend him?
You’re in his thread. You can ask him directly, not the person next to him
@liftangryordie500 just catching up on the log man. Sorry to hear about what you’re going through. It’s tough for me to relate and I’m certainly not going to try and give you any insincere advice, but @Frank_C’s post was a very good read (I’m not religious fwiw)
Thanks for taking the time to reach out. I’ve seen your log too, you’re doing some strong lifting.
Good session today, even though I haven’t really been taking care of myself.
Trap Bar DL — 405 x 10 (PR)
SSB Squat Pyramid (yes, my gym got the bar)
135, 185, 225, 245 x 10 (225, 245 are PRs)
That’s it.
I’m being downvoted to shit by keyboard warriors and form white knights, but I don’t care.
I haven’t been to this gym in months.
Solid set man. That trap bar is throwing you around something fierce. I think you’d get a kick out of a car deadlift frame. Similar pulling mechanic, but a lot more stable since the weight is anchored. You can really go balls out on it. Would suit your pulling style.
I could have had 15, but I would have passed out beforehand. I can grind all day on a trap bar. There is no limit. If I want another rep, I’m getting it. I wish the weight was anchored, and my straps fucked themselves halfway through the set (that’s why I got thrown around towards the end, my hands slipped forward).
That’s a strong set right there man good stuff
congrats on the PR lift
Good stuff dude.
Hey brother, just catching up on everyone’s log, some solid ass training going on man! Glad to see you grinding your way through life and not just dropping dead brother. Glad to have you here.
Thanks Brett. Glad to hear your life and training are going well!
