Getting fat with crippled metabolism..

Sitting here and gorging myself on cheap carbs, its 12.45 AM and im going to sleep in some hours. The last five days ive been binging on crap foods and now im going to have to spend the next week or two cutting down again. But I dont mind- ive been enjoing myself. And got noticeably fatter!
The story goes that ive been more or less on a diet for the last two months, dropping bf to 6-7% and then basically maintaining( bf loss came to a halt efter first month it seems).

What I wonder is, how much can you cripple your metabolism by prolonged dieting? Are we talking a 20% decrease? 30%? Because no matter how low cal I was going I couldn´t seem to loose the last layer of fat concealig my lowest abs…( diet was low/no carb, cardio around 400cal/day+ I had an active day). My BW didn´t change either, so what the hell was I burning off?

Im in the same boat! I have asked for help, sent spreadsheets with exactly what I eat my workout and cardio my body fat and lean body mass figures(I did all those calculations using the proper formula)but I can never get an answer. I went to my doctor and ran a blood test for thyroid, test, and all the normal blood work stuff. It all came back in the normal ranges. Two weeks ago I stopped eating anything between meals…thats right NO food every two to three hours! I just eat a “normal” amount morning, noon and night with the exception of having a protein shake after my workout. I also started doing cardio in the morning and then wait 2-3 hours before I will eat breakfast. I’m only going to do this for 2 weeks then back to taking in “in between meal” food again for two weeks then cut it again. I have lost 7%BF in the last 2 1/2 weeks.
Bottom line is there is no such thing as “do this and you will lose fat and keep muscle”! A diet or fat reduction needs to be “tweeked” for EACH PERSON ! Every body is a little different. The stuff that is posted on what to do how to eat is just a starting point. You MUST “tweek” your diet around the way your body reacts to diffrent foods and training.
Good luck ! Dont give up! PF

PF, great results. I’m in full agreement that so many meals are NOT necessary regardless of goals. Thats a lot of fat you lost. I usually eat 2 meals a day now, my biggest being after my workouts. Fat is coming off much faster and i’m not tired and weighed down all the time.
