Getting Bigger, Stronger, Leaner And HEALTHY Over The Last 15 months: Lessons Learned

I bought feast famine ferocity per your recommendation and will run it after my current run with Westside for skinny bastards. I can do the program with my current home equipment, just need to replace any machine movement with a band or bodyweight movement (band press, bodyweight leg extension, etc). I will probably have to start with the 3-4 week fast/4 week feast since my bodyfat isn’t that low.
I also realized that one other thing that was holding me back was not enough protein, so this year I’ve increased the amount of egg whites, fish and protein powder (pea/rice) in my diet.

Outstanding to hear dude! Hope it goes well. For home gym machine work arounds, if you don’t have a landmine, I’d highly recommend one. It’s great for opening up options.

protein powder (pea/rice)

Any reason to go for this vs something like Metabolic Drive?

I don’t have a landmine attachment, but a landmine attachment and handle are not expensive.

With regards to the protein powder, I minimize cow’s milk derived products for philosophical reasons. If metabolic drive uses grass fed milk I may consider it, but I don’t think they do. I also include eggs, beef, chicken and pork in my diet.

I can appreciate that perspective. Yeah, landmines are very inexpensive, and DIY options additionally so. I do know of grassfed cottage cheese sources, which are another great protein option.

Excellent account of your journey. Really appreciate you sharing the experience. I am just starting a more serious effort at getting leaner ahead of an upcoming vacation. Have cut out most of the processed foods and, like you state, want to get past the “lose 5-10 pounds” and get much closer to that primed state to gain following that vacation. I haven’t been under about 193 pounds since high school. Will be interesting if I can get that low now as a 57 year old.

If you are in the U.S. there are other companies from which you can purchase grass fed whey protein (assuming Metabolic Drive is not).

@OleMan_Fe Dude, I very much appreciate those words: thanks so much! More than happy to share, and very grateful you took the time to read. Eliminating those processed foods goes SO far. I love carnivore, absolutely, but there’s SO much that can be accomplished by just taking that step. Go keto, go paleo, go vegan, go carnivore, go IIFYM: just don’t go Captain Crunch, haha.

You’ve got me in your corner: hit me up if I can help.

@burt128 I’m just not the biggest fan of whey. I feel like it’s a super overhyed protein. I’m sure the fast absorption is super duper cool when you’re in the top 1% of your category, but for most average folks, a blended protein tends to make so much more sense. It’ll keep you satiated for longer and serve more in a meal capacity.

Agree 100% on the blend issue. I use a blend of whey, micellar casein and egg white protein. I was just pointing out for @geologist that there’s grass fed whey available in the market since that sounded like that was their impediment to taking whey.

Ah, that’s what I am getting at: Metabolic Drive isn’t whey. It’s a blend. I would dig a grassfed blend vs whey.

Me too! Neither of the two places I get my protein powder from seem to do grass fed micellar casein for whatever reason. If I really cared about that issue, I’d probably do a mix of grass fed whey and egg white protein instead of a plant protein.

Agree 100%. Copious amounts of hyper processed foods are causing more harm than people realize.
