Well then, why the fuck would you ask to see it again? :).

  1. so can i use that rough anaology? a deck of card = 6oz (raw)= 175 grams (raw) ? Those of us that are still not on the metric system need some help with conversions! haha. Im hoping to not have to weigh and measure everything especially when ordering food in a rest of at work.
  2. I use protein powder for many meals- didnt see this except for in PWO drinks- can i use that for meal? particularly bfast- i usually belnd up 50 grams portein with soem kale, bberries, and flax seeds…would that ne acceptable?

Using a deck of cards as measurement is the most arbitrary thing ever, and I couldn’t help to search it on the net Serving Sizes on Packages Can Be Misleading - AARP Bulletin.

Different food has different density, and eye-measurement.

But whatever floats your boat. If you prefer to use a deck of cards!! to weigh your food, instead of a weight, go ahead. In the eating plan you basically only have 4-5 different sizes making up 1 portion.
Thruxton had perfect conversion numbers put up.

  3. I did some quick calculations and, for my weight and the prescribed portions, 3 servings lean beef = 150g = 1/3lb. I have been using a good deal of ground Bison and extra lean (96/4) ground beef, so making 1/3lb burgers is easy. 3 servings chicken/wild game comes out to about 1/2lb (raw), so that’s pretty simple to do if you buy your meat/chicken in packages easily divisible by 1/3 or 1/2 lb (depending on what you buy). I also have a scale that measures in metric(g) as well as oz/lbs., so that helps for the fruit portions in weeks 5-8.

2)I have seen CT post, several times, that he is not fond of using many shakes while dieting as they don’t provide the satiety of whole food and can lead to cheating and just the unpleasantness of being hungry for hours. That being said, I have used shakes from time to time in the last ~6weeks when I had little time and the choice was a shake or a missed meal. I find it particularly helpful to use a shake as the “before bed” feeding as it is easy to add in supplements like glycine and glutamine at this time in a shake.

In regards to your shake above (kale, blueberries, flax, protein) I would stick with the list Thib prescribed in the eBook and the combinations of nutrients. I don’t recall ever seeing him prescribe fruit + fats + protein in the same meal (as you would have with your flax + blueberries)

purchased the prorgram after some reading some of the great feedback and results. a few questriosn fro those doing it.

  1. portions are all in grams? rather than ozs. whihch my food scale reads. how are you guys assessing portions?

wow. you have a scale. that’s hardcore!

my plan was eye ball: since 6 oz is the size of a deck of cards and equals 170g, a deck and a half = 3 portions of chicken.

maybe i should get a scale =) i looked up conversions and a portion @ 75g=2.646oz

50g=1.764oz
25g=0.882oz
150g=5.291oz

i think that covers it.[/quote]

I would strongly recommend a scale. You don’t have to be incredibly anal about the exact grams (+/- 5-10g isn’t a real big deal in my experience), but you may be surprised at the “eyeball” versus scale portions. I know I was. You can pick up a decent, digital scale for $20 or less

Almost done week two. Jumped on the scale this AM - Up 3 lbs. Huh? I am gonna measure my love handle area this Sunday. If it goes down from 40" then this diet is the best ever :slight_smile:

G87 - Before this I was doing a simple routine 4x a week. Squat/Bench/Row x2 and Deads/Chins/Press x2. Usually 3x5 for each.

Glutamine - It has been giving me CRAZY nausea for the last 2 weeks. I found that drinking milk fixes that. I’ll have to figure out what that means, but until CT gets back. No more Glutamine. 50g of the stuff…guh…

That makes no sense.

Will one of you please post before & after pics?

I’ve got the metabolic day tomorrow… how do you guys do the vertical jumps… one foot forward reset every time or feet even with each other?

Sure - in about 6 weeks :wink:

I took that to mean both feet together, jump as high as you can, repeat.

Pics- Sure. In 10 weeks.

Vertical Jumps - I just stand with my feet about a foot apart and squat down then jump. I get a solid 2-3" off the ground. heh.

gonna get the scale weigh stuff for 1st week and then be ablke to eyeball after that. Someone was talking about 1/3 of lb of beef for their portions sizes. F i hope mines more than that when measured! 1/3 of lb of meat for me is a snack!

Since hes apparently not big fan of shakes ill try to minimize them . Its so easy to throw some kale or broccoloi in with portien in the am! so i may do 1 for bfast (and ofcouse PWO).

What would everyone think about me following this program coming off of my athletic season. I wouldnt consider my season a cutting period, since i definately increase my calories along with my activity level.

My only concern is that due to me being in-season, my lifting has gone back to a bare minimum, but my cardio is obviously well up to speed. If it helps, I am 16, 6’2 and about 205-215 pounds with an estimated 15% bf.

EDIT: Just another note to add, being 16 and all, I seem to be on a hormonal rampage where as long as I am lifting decently heavy weights and eating enough, I can gain muscle, but I am concerned with my recent increase in bf%

I just use my eBay weighing scale for my food. It has grams. I just put the plate on there then hit tare then put the food. Pretty nifty.

What’s your diet look like? If you’re eating crap, clean your diet up a bit and see if you lean out on your own. At 16, as an athlete, I don’t think dieting now is going to be beneficial to you in the long run.

End Of Week 2

Weight: 234 (-1 lb)
Gut (around love handles): 39.75 (-0.75 inches)

So I lost a pound and I almost lost an inch on my gut. That’s pretty sweet.

The next 2 weeks look brutal, but I can’t wait to start!

For those of you that made it this far, how were weeks 3-4?

I will actually be starting this tomorrow. Many failed attempts over the past year at getting into single digits BF show me that while I can make myself strong, I clearly don’t know enough about losing fat.

Couple concerns that my back won’t be able to take such a high work load. I have about a 2 year old football injury of 3 or so herniated disks.

Also concerned I won’t be able to mentally handle low carb that well. Every low carb thing I have tried in the past has really messed with my concentration, and as I am rounding out my first semester of grad school, that would be a huge problem. Might have to wait til summer when I will only be doing research.
