George Floyd Riots

I don’t know, and they should be allowed that during daylight hours perhaps. But there NOW needs to be a nightly curfew on gatherings. Strictly enforced. And the local officials need to stop holding their law enforcement back. What an absolute disgrace. I hope to God there is some stipulation that allows for their forcible removal as traitors to the Union.

And frankly, I’ve run out of sympathy for the protestors at this point. Go homer and vote. Go protest the entertainment industry for its glorification of casual sex and violence. Protest against the violent inhabitants of the violent ghettos where the vast majority of black lives are lost. Protest against black absentee fathers. Stop trying to chase of men like Terry Crews. God bless those suing officials like this whose negligence cost lives and livelihoods.

I can understand the calculus of the officials: people before property. Enforcement of a curfew would result in a more injuries in that first night than all nights leading up to it combined (to both sides). It would also make the PD look like the militarized thugs that antifa paints them to be. It may be a short term win, but I can see some long term consequences.

Also, no garauntees this doesn’t start back over once the curfew is lifted in a day or two.

If the mainstream media gave the story the weight it deserves, 24 hour coverage of terrorists acts, the people would support the hell out of it. I think that point is coming quickly, regardless.

Maybe. But violence/destruction aimed at a federal building will not garner sympathy like burned down mom and pop stores in a riot (like Minneapolis). It sounds like the rioters have focused most on the federal building, and sometimes at corporate behemoths Starbucks/Amazon.

The only controversial thing there is no name tags, but again it’s normal to have undercover/plainclothes cops driving unmarked cars and making arrests. Is there some kind of law mandating name tags though?

As for the hoods, while that doesn’t sound good you have to look at what is going on. These peaceful protestors are setting other buildings on fire and stuff like that so if they find out where others are being held you can be sure they will pull some shit over there.

The irony. Build gulags in Alaska and send them there for a taste of their own medicine. These people have no idea what they are really supporting. A few questionable deaths at the hands of police now and then vs. a totalitarian government that killed millions of its own citizens.

They were feds sent to protect the federal building. They were not supposed to patrol the streets in unmarked vans for antifa, grab them, drive them to a “secret location” (federal building), and interrogate them. Especially when they grab innocent people as the DHS brass admitted in the NPR interview.

It is not normal. And it would set a scary precedent which is why there was so much blowback and backpedaling.

Where are they not allowed to make arrests so long as it is connected with protecting federal property?

Did they admit to detaining people that were later cleared? Ok.
That’s going to happen, period. People are rioting for how many days? Violence and vandalism over and over and over again. And someone is detained and brought in to answer a few questions in the pursuit of active terrorists?

Paralysis is a no go.

We have children being killed by self-appointed security. People’s livelihoods ruined, charred corpses being found how many days later?

Same thing I’m wondering.

Nothing in this situation is normal

Where did this happen?

Setting up barriers and trying to enforce their own security.

ATLANTA — Family, classmates, friends and teachers of 8-year-old Secoriea Turner gathered to honor her with a balloon release ceremony at her school Monday afternoon.

Turner was shot and killed on July 4 as she rode in a car with her mother and a friend. The driver was attempting to get around a makeshift barrier near the Wendy’s where Rayshard Brooks was killed when he encountered a group of armed men. Turner was killed after someone fired shots into the car.

Julian Conley, 19, has been arrested and charged with her murder. Police are still searching for other persons of interest.

Paywall. I thought that was a typical “child caught in the crossfire of a street beef” situation? They actually had self appointed organized security?

Which lives matter?

Protest yourselves.

Yep, they were trying to run an autonomous are at the Wendy’s where Rayshard Brooks was killed.

No good.

ATLANTA (AP) — An 8-year-old girl was shot and killed on the Fourth of July after at least two people in a crowd of armed people opened fire on a car she was riding in near a flash point of recent protests in Atlanta, authorities said Sunday.

Police identified the girl as Secoriea Turner, and Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms called for justice during an emotional news conference Sunday with the girl’s grief-stricken mother.

The shooting happened near the Wendy’s restaurant where an African American man, Rayshard Brooks, was killed by an Atlanta police officer on June 12. The fast food outlet was later burned, and the area has since become a site for frequent demonstrations against police brutality.

Authorities said the mother had attempted to drive through illegally placed barricades in the area when the vehicle came under fire Saturday night.

“You shot and killed a baby,” the mayor said, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “And there wasn’t just one shooter, there were at least two shooters.”

In a statement Sunday, police said the girl was in a car with her mother and a friend of the mother when they got off Interstate-75/85 onto University Avenue and were trying to enter a parking lot nearby. They ran into a group of armed individuals who had blocked the entrance.

“At some point, someone in that group opened fire on the vehicle, striking it multiple times and striking the child who was inside,” the statement read. The driver drove the girl to Atlanta Medical Center but she did not survive.

Police said they are seeking help from the public to identify those involved and released a wanted poster saying a person all dressed in black and another in a white T-shirt were being sought.

The mayor said there have been problems with protesters in the area putting up barriers to close off the street. She said she received a message that the barriers were back up less than an hour before she was informed that the 8-year-old girl had died.

I hope they sue the ever loving hell out of officials who have allowed this crap to happen. Those barricades should have not even been allowed to stand for one damn second before police were removing them and the people setting/protecting them. Parties over. Go home. Fear the police? No, fear the damn mob. Thanks for reminding us all why the police are necessary.
