The thing is, I was sympathetic to some of the sentiments. I don’t deny there is some bias and out of proportion policing. But I could also see that this was being wildly overblown. The reaction is way out of proportion. The police aren’t what stand in the way of law-abiding young black men today. Let’s be honest. Lets admit that the vast majority of the dysfunction is now within the communities themselves. White cops killing black men is an absolutely infinitesimal fraction of black murders. Half of all homicide victims and offenders are black. There is no rational fear of being gunned in cold blood by rampaging gangs of racist cops. Bullshit. The perps are almost always of the same race. If such a tiny amount of police actually murdering black men can inform our impression of the general state of the police force…Then what about 13% of the population committing half of the damn murders?

Biggest problem is folks low on the socioeconomic pole. Due to the cycle of poverty it’s tough to pull yourself up by bootstraps. Racist policies of the near past put a disproportionate number of black folks at the bottom of this pole. They are understandably pissed.
White folks don’t know the way to fix this. If we did, millions of white folks wouldn’t be at the bottom too.

And I flat out am sympathetic. But there are certain cultural things that have historically blunted some of the edges of poverty. Marriage between mothers and fathers being one of them. But no, we’re too damn busy trying to think of the umpteenth pronoun to use for women with rear holes (as opposed to the ones with front holes) while worrying about how the traditional institution of marriage is a colonial and patriarchal cis gendered form of slavery.

As tiring as it may be to major in the minors, I don’t think it’s valid to argue that the smaller issues don’t matter because the big issues are still unaddressed.

I think you are presented extreme headline grabbing stories by media and unfairly extrapolate to the wider population. I think this is a problem in general now days.

I live in a hyperliberal environment and I just don’t see these extreme leftist stories playing out in real life. I think clicks and influence on social media has created a false reality where people think that is a reflection of reality.
But just as people feel comfortable saying extreme/mean things they never would in person, they also feel compelled to “be the most” as that will garner likes/views/influence.
IRL, it’s all toned way down. Viewpoints, opinions, actions and support of policies. But, if your only exposure to progressive liberals is through media, you likely only see the extreme side.
Riots, arson, vandalism, assault, crime, including murder, up because of the influence of extreme leftists on police policy… that’s not IRL I suppose.
