Anyone can file a lawsuit, the question is who will win. But what is the alternative, let places like Portland and Seattle descend into anarchy?
Can you be a peaceful protestor in a riot?
That might not look good, but it’s not worse than what is going on now. It has to end somehow.
It’s leftist only because it’s in defence of leftists. If the state or city isn’t willing to take action themselves then it’s either negligence or approval.
Sounds like a case for a lawsuit, or even refusing to work.
Weren’t residents in the CHAZ calling for help though? Business owners were complaining and people who live there said they couldn’t sleep because of the music playing all night and other noise.
“There’s not much else to say other than every cop here is a terrorist by association,” Hale Rardin, a Black Lives Matter supporter at the scene, told the station.
The lawsuits would be easily winnable by the plaintiffs, which is why the City/State arent going that route.
Yes, you absolutely can be a peaceful protestor while other people riot on nearby streets. One of the issues in Seattle was SPD flanking protestors blocks behind the rioters and tear gassing/shooting rubber bullets at the rear (peaceful) portion of the protest. Those peaceful protestors were then forced towards the front where the rioters and more cops/teargas were.
totally, i was just pointing out how fluid people “core principles” are when it is convenient. Leftists are libertarian when it fits screaming about states rights, and on the flipside you have libertarian/righties screaming for the feds to invade a state because they disagree with the politics there.
Keeping morale up at at the Portland PD must be really damn tough right now. Stuck between a rock and a hard place is where they have been for weeks.
Yep, at the end, citizens in and around CHOP wanted it to stop and a few days later it was peacefully brought to an end and disbanded. Which, again, is a much better outcome than the likely alternative the night that CHAZ started (outright firefight between cops and armed protestors). But in PDX the violence/vandalism seems to not be getting worse, its just kind of plateaued at a level that is apparently acceptable, and deemed better than alternative outcomes.
Haha its more like watching the Al-Queda parade in your town while eating falafal, and then getting arrested for being a terrorist. Also, this is 'murica, and i hope to goodness we never have to deal with real problems like those is syria, afghanistan, iraq, yemen, etc.
Those officers are earning the shit out of their overtime pay. Who ever is keeping their morale up and keeping them showing up is doing a damn fine job.
No idea how folks there feel about it, or what the area where this all is happening is like. I’ve only been to downtown PDX a handful of times and don’t know anyone currently living there. Heck, where the rioting is happening might be a pretty residential-free area (just retail and office for all i know?).
Trump just needs to declare antifa and BLM as unlawful enemy combatants, then he can torture them in Guantanamo or kill them with drones.
It’s not Islamic radicalism, it’s leftist radicalism and it looks like it’s far from over. I would have expected things to heat up as it gets closer to election time anyway, only difference is that people are already going crazy. All you need is some right wing loonies in the mix and you could have a civil war.
I can see antifa being officially declared a domestic terror organization (has it already?)… but BLM/Black Lives Matter is such an ambiguous term that is supported by so many people and means so many different things to people there is no chance it gets any “bad” designation.
I think that if Trump is re-elected the crazy left will double down and Trump will double down as well b/c he thrives on creating division, and an Us vs Them mentality. If Biden wins, i bet the democrats cool it as they dont feel the need to balance the crazy of trump. We will see.
She is white. She is the problem. These white people turned these BLM protests violent. They introduced the anarchic elements. A white person who is angrier than blacks when it comes to racism, has mental issues.
That’s what they were supposed to do. What they weren’t supposed to do is drive around Portland in unmarked vans, hop out and detain random folks in black, and then drive them off to undisclosed locations for interrogation.
I mean…ok, I guess so. But I don’t consider it an option honestly, and I don’t think anyone should.
Lol. Second guy loses his cred for think of Judas Priest as a “he” instead of a band!
Not a bad idea for a thread, though I daresay a lot of the old metal bands would be considered “rock” by today’s standards (just one more reason to not use today’s standards for yesterday’s events, to bring this back somewhat to topic lol)
The term is one thing, the organization is another.
Those white people are a problem, but there were plenty of violent BLM protests before where random white people minding their own business were attacked.
Isn’t it a shame it’s not leading on the mainstream media?
Video documentation, night after night. You will literally see them barricading doors with fences they’ve moved from around the courthouse, while trying to get to windows and shoot fireworks in incendiary devices inside. Video after video.
