George Floyd Riots

Well, he needs a human adversary to fire up his base.

You can’t insult-tweet a virus, and the dumb renzy to blame “elitist” scientists for supposedly false predictive models (witchunt for dr. Ferguson) is too convoluted for his base. “Tyrannical” democratic governors, as I’ve written before, were only a stopgap villain and you cannot do too much China bashing otherwise the CCP will get upset.

So it’s Antifa.

Why do I need to hide behind sarcasm on an anonymous forum? Is passive aggressive your word of the week? Is there a way to be actually aggressive on the internet I’m not aware of?

Oh good advice for Americans. See that video of injustice towards a black guy? Before you even think that’s fucked up let’s examine why everyone stop and pause and think how much better it is here. Better than that everyone write an essay on how much better America is before even considering if this is a problem.

Jesus dude. Are you really trying to reach a quota of invented positions for me or something? RiIt’s isn’t my way and I don’t even have a way. But why does any of that matter when you’ll just mold me into whoever you want to be fighting against?

I’ll take wrong again for 500 Alex. I don’t know all the answers. But I do know court in Iran isn’t really relevant to the situation in Minnesota.

I think we will be ok. We’ve had “disunity” for forever. Somehow we keep hanging on. A lot of that is because some people won’t stop trying to improve things. Your solution is to look at how much better we have it than some others and then stop. My solution is to acknowledge our issues and think about how much better we could make it.

Luckily in America my viewpoint has typically won out. Of course I’m referring to the way I actually see things and not the way someone is telling me how I see things.

Someone should have told MLK that he should think about how much better blacks have it since they are no longer enslaved.

Around the 1.50 min mark the officers stop needing to use violence, and have him restrained.
I know you are being sarcastic about officers helpless self defence, but they can’t do a search for weapons until he is restrained. Until then they have to treat him like he has a lethal weapon available.

Do you seriously think someone of a different race that behaved the same way would be treated any differently by police? Plenty of white guys, fucked up on drugs, or suffering from acute psychosis, have died usually from a heart attack, whilst violently resisting arrest, and who refuse to submit.

Somewhere along the line personal responsibility has to come for a persons poor decisions. Blaming someone else when its not true is a cop out for the dishonest. Deep down sane people know the truth if they are honest with themselves, even if they don’t like it.

You don’t need to be passive aggressive but it seems to be your nature. Its a weasley way of hiding behind words, then denying it when you’ve when you’ve been caught out bullshitting.

Your actively trying to take me out of context again, re read the original piece again. Your doing the same thin, that you claim I’m doing and complaining about it, boo hoo.

What can the rest of the population do to make all these different minorities happy? You could compensate every person with some supposed historical grievance, that they never personally suffered and there would still be the same amount of disunity and riots by the usual suspects.
Nothing is ever good enough and all you end up doing is rewarding and reinforcing bad behaviour.

You’re misrepresenting me on this one again. Definitely look at how much better you are than other places. You can still make changes to improve things, just try the peaceful methods before resorting to violence.

The way you or how anyone sees something at the time can be modified later if you find out more details in the future. You’ve no doubt heard of the term “the fog of war”, that stops you from always getting a true picture about what’s really going on if your in the thick of it. We later found out Jussie Smollett wasn’t assaulted by Maga hat wearing white supremacists. I never heard any apologies from all the people that jumped the gun on that one. They all know they were wrong believing that bullshit, but were too ashamed, or too arrogant to admit that they were wrong.

Anyone else find it fascinating that our police sheepishly cling to their protocol and procedure, even as a suspect has died?

“Oh he’s dead. Oops.”

While the chihuahua new-guy cop barks off bystanders to make sure they don’t…you know, push the piles of enforcers off of the…corpse.

Who knows, maybe they got in a fight and the cop threatened to kill him. Calling it first degree murder really requires something substantial, if there is nothing then the lawyer is an idiot. I’m haven’t heard what they base the allegations on.

Good for you you picked up on sarcasm. We’re going to see the video a different way so I’m not sure what the point is. I think they should have hit him a few more times just to be sure though.

We’re on the internet we don’t need to hide behind words. We’re already hiding. I’m not denying anything, just more curious why you keep saying passive aggressive. But you do you I guess.

Not really. I said the purpose of the thread wasn’t to examine how blacks are treated across the world. But I’m not having much luck convincing you otherwise so I’ll give up on that.

I’m not a minority and I’m unhappy. I’ll start by saying we have a ways to go to make sure minorities aren’t treated differently because of the color of their skin. And yes I’m an American talking about an American issue at least in this thread. The thread wasn’t “let’s examine minority treatment across the globe.”

Your solution is apparently for everyone to ignore that and say how lucky we all are. But I’m not surprised by your position. It’s the same thing people who are opposed to progress say whether it’s this, women, gays, whatever. It’s either no big deal and doesn’t exist or it’s worse elsewhere so stop examining it. What’s odd is you talk about how much you read about America and how much it effects the rest of the world yet you seem to be turned off by Americans attempting to change themselves.

Instead of even attempting to acknowledge why Americans could be upset about things you say “well how come black people who have lived in America for centuries aren’t going back to Africa if things are so bad?”

You should consult the mountains of historical data that show blacks disproportionately commit violent crime and in turn encounter more violent altercations with law enforcement.

I remember @flipcollar made a pretty great, simple statement when someone else said something like that.

I think it was something basically like “you either think that their environment shapes them or you believe that they are truly inferior to whites/other races.”

I don’t know the stats but I wouldn’t be surprised if what you said was true. It doesn’t really “bother” me though, for lack of a better term. I don’t personally know a ton of black people, but I know a lot of Natives and Latinos, and when they grow up witnessing shootings, drug dealing, gang activity, etc, it just doesn’t really surprise me that they end up on the same path. It’s terribly sad, and I’m not saying that they’re not responsible for their choices, but it’s awful hard to grow up surrounded by violence and brokenness with 0 good examples and become the complete opposite of that. Not impossible, but certainly improbable.

Well when stopped they are less likely to have contraband than white people who are pulled over.

But surely being treated as sub human for much of American history has nothing to do with anything.

If I commit a violent crime should the cops kill me? If I don’t commit one should they? If I’m unarmed should they? If I’m armed should they?

Its a rhetorical question regarding why blacks from America don’t want to go back to Africa. They obviously don’t want to go because it would be a worse standard of living , less opportunities. Even native Africans don’t want them to go back to a country of the races origins, they recognise they wouldn’t fit in, culturally.

Why do you think there is an endless number of African that are trying to move to America?Funny how Minneapolis is one of the major centres for new African migrants from Somalia, and Sudan. They all seem to want to go there, can’t be as bad as you think, despite the riots.

Your solution is to pander so much to every minority even when their demands are unreasonable, or impractical. That leads to an even more disfunctional society. Because your not doing anything based on realistic outcomes.

For the other minorities that you mention, like gays and feminists, nothing is ever enough either. They have all the rights everyone else has now, but they still want more, to the point where they want people to by into their delusions, people who identify as anything other than what they scientifically are, and any criticism is deemed as hate speech.

I think you should try committing a Rodney King style crime just to see what happens.(please don’t, I don’t seriously want to anything bad to happen to you, I’d have no one else to spar with)

sigh

You’re right. If people want to go to a place or stay in a place that means the people in that place should never attempt to make anything better. Change should be outlawed. Staying in a place or wanting to go to a place is a clear sign that problems don’t exist in that area.

I’m running as governor of Kansas in the next election. My slogan? “If you’re here we have nothing to work on.”

Maybe it’s just a pure difference of opinion. I think things can get better even when they are better than others. Progress in one area shouldn’t be dependent on progress in others. My neighbor is fat and my other neighbor is a complete string bean. I think personally both would take my physique (which is far from great). But I don’t think to myself you know I should be happy with where I’m at and not try to add lean muscle or strength. Look how much better I look than them.

At some point will you stop telling me my solutions to things? Are you trying to break the t-nation straw man record?

They will likely align with the dominant group, but make no mistake they will align with someone according to their tribally biased hindbrain directives. These individual decisions can make for an interesting narrative at times, though they have little affect one way or another on the primal forces at play here. Seeing the forest through the trees is important in properly assessing and predicting the events we see unfolding.

The media, politicians, people in power, the events in question that led to this chaos aren’t the driving forces in this narrative. The driving force is our fundamental biological nature that has been tuned and refined over 100s of thousands of generations of evolution. It has been successful in getting us to this point through a harsh but fairly stable environment. That environment has been drastically altered by the exponential growth of our technological achievement. We are proverbially fish out of water at this point and our instincts can no longer be counted on to successfully navigate us forward.

Personally we need to make sure the mental models we have are congruent with our foundational biological nature which we have strayed from. Ideas like blank slate equalism and mantras such as “diversity is our strength” need to be discarded as they are flat out at odds with observational reality. At a societal level I think it is already too late, tribal fractions are too deep in western civilization and this is a small to medium level expression of that. It is only going to escalate over a longer time horizon. As a betting man I put my money on the forced homogeneity and ruthless efficiency of the China model going forward much to my chagrin.

I appreciate your concern but you’re sparring less with me and more with what I guess you would like my positions to be. I need to finish mowing the lawn maybe when I get back I’ll have an updated count of my solutions and views.

I question your sanity.

Or it’s because they are Americans, i.e., they were born here and so it is an incredibly stupid (and probably racist) thing to say to someone since you can’t go back to a place you’ve never been.

Yeah.

I am not so much against this happening. Any group that advocates violence and anarchy (IMO) has no place in American Life…but…(and with Trump, there is always a “but”…)

What Trump is “good” at (and I put “good” in parentheses for my friend @thunderbolt23!)…is creating a series of small distractions and fights to distract from larger issues that he is ill-equipped and emotionally unable to deal with. (It was downright painful to see the man read off of a little piece of paper he was holding the “empathy” he had for George Floyd and his family. Trump looked like someone who desperately needed to go to the bathroom).

I think this is one

Divert, distract and attack. This has proven to be pretty effective for Trump.
