There have been plenty of incidents of nothing but bloodlust and a penchant for mayhem, not protesting at all.

I still pretty much understand every action that took place in Minneapolis. Considering thats the location that it happened.
However… the riots are breaking out nationwide. Whether that’s primarily due to the community acting like children, outside instigators, or abusive investigative cops, I’m sure will be determined very soon.
All other information aside, lethal force will be understood, when people are rioting and burning cars. If I went downtown and lit cars on fire, theres a good chance I’d be put down too.
The line just gets blurry when stories like the video that came out of philly with cops opening fire on people sitting on their porch. This is quickly becoming martial law, without the official announcement.
Examples of Rome and Russia were held together by the same brutal tactics that China employs now given the technological limitations of their respective ages. As for the Sassanids I have to claim ignorance and I don’t have enough motivation to perform the research necessarily to do them justice currently.
In the case of Russia Ukrainians were starved en mass during the Holodomor. The mass deportation of Chechens and Ingush(Operation Lentil) was used to bring them to heel. For the Romans they executed the siege and subjugation of Carthage and they decimated and enslaved the conquered peoples of continental Europe. Voluminous works are replete with far more details than I can do justice to them in my small snippets contained in this post.
Demographics is destiny and tribalism is a core part of our genetic programming. While it manifests in many different forms the base
level motivation remains the same. The only way for different tribes to exist over the long run under one banner is through oppression, brutal or otherwise. This is the case even when the minority tribe benefits contrasted against what their prospects would be under self determination. They will always find an axe to grind against the tribe in power, whether it is real or illusionary makes no difference.
As for the current situation, the cohesive majority that has held America together has been eroding rapidly. The previous subjugation tactics have also been undermined in parallel. This equation has led to greater and greater instances of civil unrest. The only other counter balancing force has been economic largesse during this time period. Clovid-19 just pulled the rug from that and in ten short weeks, we now have anarchy on our doorstop.

They also shot news reporters with rubber bullets and pepper sprayed them. It’s not the same situation everywhere, but in some cities it looks like the cops are now getting out of control.
Have there ever been such widespread riots in the US before? I think the fact that so many people have no job or school or anything to go to is probably a major factor.
This is bullshit. I am all for the police cracking down HARD on rioters and looters. Shooting paintballs at people who are on their own front porches? Get the fuck out of here.

There are definitely dozens of verifiable brutality instances, which is pretty fucked. It also doesn’t look to be getting better, considering here in my city, which is by all rights, extremely peaceful; there was a rally that was cancelled today because someone did their research and found out it wasnt organized by BLM or any other relevant sources, citing that everyone needed to show up in masks, armed, and “ready for peace but to expect violence”
There were some riots for the Zimmerman case, and a lot of protests, but nothing like this.

The circumstances surrounding Floyd’s death are starting to look strange. The family’s lawyer says the cop should be charged with first degree murder, which in itself doesn’t sound right because that would mean he had planned to kill him beforehand. But then things get a bit weird, it turns out that Floyd and the cop both worked as bouncers in the same club and on top of that Floyd was a porn star. We can only wait and see where this goes.
Strange how the only news site reporting that is in Zimbabwe.
I think there was widespread disorder under Nixon, and I’m sure some of the more knowledgeable posters about US history could provide other examples.

Redlining. I hadn’t heard of that particular term, but I am aware of all peoples potential to unfairly discriminate. It doesn’t just happen to black people, it also happens to poor people of any race including whites. Once again it happens a lot less than in the past.
Yes there were riots in the 1970’s, they weren’t all about African American rights, like anti Vietnam war rallies that turned bad. Quite a few that were race based are more related to extreme terroristic groups such the Black Panthers, rather than the broad, National dissatisfaction and riots spread over the country that you have now.
Crack epidemic, in the 80’s is not a riot. I suppose one could argue some sort of racial conspiracy behind that. I defer to you on this one, I don’t have enough inside information on that one to make a reasonable judgement.
1990’s Rodney King, yes it started a riot, but that’s not a fight any reasonable person could justify making a stand on. He was not some innocent man, minding his own business, he was speeding, refused to pull over, over the limit with alcohol, and on parole for a robbery conviction, and resisting arrest. He refused to submit and kept trying to stand up, refused to be cuffed so they kept beating him until he complied. Unpalatable watch to, for sure, but King was the only one to blame for his actions.
When the police finally got control of him, they stopped using violence because it was no longer necessary. Its disrespectful to all the other people black or otherwise that have suffered excessive force from police, definitely to Mr Floyd to even make a comparison.
I don’t watch alt right teenage news. I was alive and well during the periods I mentioned. This stuff made news all around the world, its in my living memory, and racial tensions were significantly lower in these periods compared to now. Not even in the same order of magnitude. There was much more of a will to get along, will the MLK approach. Now its all violence at the drop of a hat.

But despite all their best efforts Rodney King lived. So I guess he’s much better off than other stories of black people.
Also I can find a way worse video of a black person being treated in Brazil so we should really just take a moment to appreciate how much worse everything could be.
I know when I watch this I see these officers in no control of the situation and in helpless self defense. I think they should have kept it up as they didn’t have total control even when this ends. King was still breathing I believe and their lives could have been in danger.

If they don’t personally know Mr Floyd, then yes they should stop and pause, and at least consider how much better they have it in the USA. Your way = riots when they could have been avoided.
You’re the one who opened up our previous responses from another thread. If anything my earlier argument about disunity in America and in Western countries has been proven right, by these riots. You brought up immigration to America in this current topic, not me.
As for the labour situation in America, I’ve got a pretty good idea, much more than you are prepared to give me credit for. I have access to all the same info as you, you just don’t look at the big picture. I go out of my way to keep up with what goes on in America, financially, socially, and culturally, because of the impact it has not only for Americans, but the rest of the world. You don’t even consider it because you are too close to it, and think you know all the answers. Its very arrogant, and its only going to give you grief because you can’t see what’s coming until its already upon you. Until then you are in denial. I mean this with no sarcasm, I really hope things improve, because I don’t like seeing disunity in America. It helps no one.
I had heard that. If it’s true, it seems like it could be a possibility that this was personal. Not that the cop planned to kill him or anything, but once he’d been arrested that the cop might’ve been a bit rougher if he maybe didn’t like Floyd or something.
