George Floyd Riots

It’s even worse - there’s always a glimmer of hope that a heretic may realize an error of his ways and return to the fold, but a depraved statement such as this is beyond redemption.

@Legalsteel - no one is disputing Halford’s vocal qualities - although it speaks volumes about JP when the coolly replaced him with a tribute band singer - but Iron Maiden are the very definition of the new wave of British metal. Number of the Beast, Powerslave, Life after Death - those are the iconic albums that have stood the test of time.

JP are in comfortable second place.

Well, to make a retort, Maiden replaced Halford with a crazy man. Tim Owen’s is also a gem. The man excels in all the bands he goes into, and never gets half the credit he deserves. What were priest thinking making a down tuned album when you have a ring wraith on vocals?!

Likewise Painkiller, British steel, stained class and screaming for vengeance have also stood that test.

The bone I have to pick with Maiden is that they’ve moved into a far more proggy direction than the albums I loved, a complaint shared by many. When comparing the last 2 priest albums with the last 2 maiden albums, the edge goes to JP.

Overall discography we can dispute, as I could be swayed that Maiden’s highs are higher than Priest’s highs, but Maiden’s low points are subterranean.

Edit: Somewhere in time deserves to be on the Maiden classic list, and I will fight those who disagree.

I saw them once in concert. I have seen AILD a few times. Really got into them as a teenager, and hadn’t heard anything like it on the radio before. Unfortunate about Tim going a bit off the tracks. He is out of prison now, and at least back with AILD.

You are wrong. Zeppelin knocked it out of the park on every album.

I accept defeat.

That’s my favorite album. And I think I was one out of a handful of idiots in the world who read The Adventures of Lord Iffy Boatrace so my qualifications as a Maiden fan should beyond dispute.

Led Zep is the greatest band of all time. I’ll Wing Chun anyone who disagrees.

Well, it looks like the CHOP has officially been dismantled as of this morning. Glad to see it all worked out without unnecessary bloodshed. From the point it was at in early June when police were toe-to-toe in that powder keg with heavily armed “protestors”, i think this is a great outcome and goes to show that using force may not always be the best answer… especially if the local citizens are overwhelmingly against police involvement.

Tell that to the two black teens who were shot (one is dead) by the Chaz police. How ironic that supposed BLM supporters killed a black kid. It’s funny that the media wasn’t all over that the same way they were when it came to George Floyd.

You mean the locals who filed lawsuits against the city for not getting rid of those “protesters”?

They were shot by CHOP “police”? I didn’t hear that, where did you see that? A certain level of violence isnt all that out of the ordinary for that area. Not to mention, the people who were shot weren’t locals, they were there for the anarchy, not for the social movement… and that is unfortunately what the experiment became- anarchy. Which is in large part why CHOP organizers were largely onboard with SPD disbanding it all over the past few days.

Yep, some of the folks in the area got fed up with the CHOP and once that became clear (to both the City and CHOP organizers) the CHOP was disbanded within a week. The other option was to engage in a full scale firefight on the night of June 8th(?) with dozens of highly armed folks scattered about the thousands of unarmed protesters.

Likewise. I also love ‘Killers’ but I always feel like it would be so much more satisfying with Bruce on vocals.

Major kudos! That’s awesome. I just listened to this album on repeat today. I was unaware it WASN’T considered a classic. So I will join in the beatdown to whomever disagrees.

Greatest non-metal band. I realize they helped found the genre, but you have to consider them rock. Also my favorite. They’re so damned versatile! And they have vastly underappreciated songwriting abilities by the Philistines abroad.

That’s the only major issue I have with Paul Di’Anno…he’s not Bruce. The album definitely has a more punk influence to it while still definitely metal, but it’s a great album.

Think the murdered guys dad would disagree with your assessment.

You can find all kinds of interviews from residents and business owners who thought it was a disgrace on all levels.

Yet our Seattle resident makes it seem like the whole thing was a big success, popular with the people who had homes and businesses in and around the area.

How many people would love it if a shitty version of Bonnarroo sprung up on their street and everything they owned got covered in spray paint? Who wants drunk and drugged up people milling about, no public services, and everything you worked for getting tanked in value?

You can actually answer that questions now. We’ve been shown.

Do you have a link to a reliable source for this? I heard about the shooting, but when I try to search for it it’s only some right wing conspiracy sites saying the CHAZ security did it.

You’re right. “great” wasnt a good choice of words.

Compared to what would have happened had Police not backed down in early June, i think the way police and the City disbanded the CHOP was a much preferable outcome. Its a tragedy the young man lost his life.

Funny how the mayor ordered the “CHOP” closed down after the protestors showed up at her house, which apparently compromised the safety of her family and her children. So it’s ok as long as it’s in that shitty neighborhood over there.

Cap Hill is one of the more expensive neighborhoods in seattle actually. Its the crackin hipster gay neighborhood that anyone who is young wants to move to.

That said, your insinuation about the mayor is unfair, and false. She worked with CHOP organizers and the SPD to peacefully disband the protest area after it became clear that the original intent of the CHOP was lost and it had been taken over by folks who didnt care at all about the original cause. It really was all sides agreeing to close it down.

The mayor used to be a US attorney and put some nasty people away so her address was supposed to be confidential. The socialist councilwomen in seattle led a march to her house. Personally knowing a county judge and hearing stories about what happened when his address got leaked, that shit is no joke. I imagine its even more serious for a US attorney.

Are you okay with the idea that someone just come in and commandeer your subdivision or apartment building (wherever you happen to live)? Perhaps many of your neighbors desire this communal arrangement, similar to CHOP.

Is this seriously acceptable from random strangers?

I unfortunately live in a condo with an HOA… never again. Fuck.

That said, you need to know what Cap Hill is like to understand why CHOP was so accepted there. That is the most progressive neighborhood in one of the most progressive cities in the country. Its not a random subdivision or apartment building. In most parts of Seattle it wouldnt have been supported and tolerated… but Cap Hill is different.

If you are super against guns you shouldnt live in Alaska where you kind of need one to not get eaten. If you are a hardcore athiest dont live in the bible belt. If you dont want to be surrounded with freakflags flying high and liberal progressives, dont live in Cap Hill where your neighbor has a good shot of being Antifa, or a professional protestor.
