George Floyd Riots

They are new wave of British heavy metal and, for my money, Priest have the more solid discography.

Priest have made 2 all killer, no filler albums in the last 5 years, Maiden haven’t been able to tell their arse from their elbow since ‘Fear of the dark’

As Comrade Lenin said, all civilized discussion is exhausted and therefore only remorseless violence can be used to eliminate once for all these absurd and dangerous utterings.

Bah, I’m right and you know it. Case in point:

@loppar and I’m no Maiden hater. They are in my top 3 bands, I just happen to have heard Maiden’s recent output and I possess ears .

So did Stalin.

Communism isn’t about eliminating the rich, it’s about consolidating wealth and power in the hands of the few at the top.

Count down to a few universities changing their names begins:

The most fascinating part of this entire episode is watching whites try to find who is the least white privileged amongst themselves (ie. Not them specifically but some other group of white people lol)

And it will be the leaders of BLM and Antifa who will be the Robespierres in a new reign of terror. At least we know how it ended for him.

Ah, relax good sir. Only in that there are 2 bands widely credited with bringing NWBHM to worldwide force.

Maiden is by far my favorite between the two, though I have to say I wouldn’t have pressed charges against you if I were guilty of what you said! It would have been well deserved.

Up the Irons!

My friend we will have to agree to disagree. I thought Brave New World was excellent, and I’m a fan of Book of Souls (at least most of it).

Also, they have two of the best live albums ever created by ANY band. Rock in Rio is without doubt the best live metal album I’ve heard, ever.

Although I do have to say Halls of Valhalla is in my top personal favorites for training.

Def Leppard and Whitesnake?

Heresy. Nothing less than heresy!

Agreed on ‘Brave new world’ for sure, and their live albums slay. Not sold on book of souls though. One of my absolute favourite maiden tracks is from Brave new world:

I will contend that Priest keep hitting it out of the park on their new albums (their most recent is one of my few 10/10 albums) whereas Maiden haven’t launched an all killer no filler album in a while. PROVE ME WRONG, BRUCE. GIVE ME ONE MORE SOMEWHERE IN TIME!

However, the ‘metal’ Band with the most consistent discography is, and will remain, Motörhead.

Album sales are truth.

This is metal! Album sales are for posers.

Also, this tangent has made me realise we may need a PWI metal thread, because goddamn do I love this shit:

Edit: this was very close to being the song for Top Gun, oh what could have been:

Edit the second: @loppar I raise you this masterpiece.

Phenomenal. The live version from Rock in Rio remains my favorite though. Honestly there isn’t really a track on that album that I DON’T love lol.

I was there for the tour. It helped make up my mind.

Hey, not even Zeppelin and Dylan hit it out of the park on all albums!

“We are Motorhead, and we play rock-‘n’ fucking-roll”. I was there for his last tour. RIP.

I will post so hard on that thread. Metal fucking rules.

Would have been so much better than “take my breath away” lol

How about some love for Thin Lizzy. It counts as British, no?

I can totally get on board with this. Not metal, but damn good. Plus they’re Irish.

Nobody is perfect.

I started to put Thin Lizzy as an influencer - twin guitar attack swapping leads, but mostly based on that 1 live album from 76/77. Live had way more moxie than the studio versions. You will hear Maiden in this song from 74ish

Old Def Lepard (they were like 18 on first record iirc) was just mostly hard rock like zep to my ears. Whitesnake did the hair thing to make bank, no problem to me.

Maiden first 5-6 albums all went platinum with probably zero radio play, and massive concert action in the old Warsaw Pact. Damn commies were angry and needed to head bang LOL.

There was a heavy metal thread on off topic several years ago, but it was beyond my interest.
