They are new wave of British heavy metal and, for my money, Priest have the more solid discography.
Priest have made 2 all killer, no filler albums in the last 5 years, Maiden haven’t been able to tell their arse from their elbow since ‘Fear of the dark’
As Comrade Lenin said, all civilized discussion is exhausted and therefore only remorseless violence can be used to eliminate once for all these absurd and dangerous utterings.
Count down to a few universities changing their names begins:
The most fascinating part of this entire episode is watching whites try to find who is the least white privileged amongst themselves (ie. Not them specifically but some other group of white people lol)
Ah, relax good sir. Only in that there are 2 bands widely credited with bringing NWBHM to worldwide force.
Maiden is by far my favorite between the two, though I have to say I wouldn’t have pressed charges against you if I were guilty of what you said! It would have been well deserved.
Up the Irons!
My friend we will have to agree to disagree. I thought Brave New World was excellent, and I’m a fan of Book of Souls (at least most of it).
Also, they have two of the best live albums ever created by ANY band. Rock in Rio is without doubt the best live metal album I’ve heard, ever.
Although I do have to say Halls of Valhalla is in my top personal favorites for training.
Agreed on ‘Brave new world’ for sure, and their live albums slay. Not sold on book of souls though. One of my absolute favourite maiden tracks is from Brave new world:
I will contend that Priest keep hitting it out of the park on their new albums (their most recent is one of my few 10/10 albums) whereas Maiden haven’t launched an all killer no filler album in a while. PROVE ME WRONG, BRUCE. GIVE ME ONE MORE SOMEWHERE IN TIME!
However, the ‘metal’ Band with the most consistent discography is, and will remain, Motörhead.
I started to put Thin Lizzy as an influencer - twin guitar attack swapping leads, but mostly based on that 1 live album from 76/77. Live had way more moxie than the studio versions. You will hear Maiden in this song from 74ish
Old Def Lepard (they were like 18 on first record iirc) was just mostly hard rock like zep to my ears. Whitesnake did the hair thing to make bank, no problem to me.
Maiden first 5-6 albums all went platinum with probably zero radio play, and massive concert action in the old Warsaw Pact. Damn commies were angry and needed to head bang LOL.
There was a heavy metal thread on off topic several years ago, but it was beyond my interest.
