No, it seems like BLM is willing to sacrifice the next few years to achieve a long term solution (or they might believe that it wont be as bad as you or i think it will be). For the past 30-40 years policy has seemed to focus on treating the symptoms, and those symptoms havent gotten much better. In the high level scenario i proposed, the funding would be removed from police and put toward another organization that would take care of traffic tickets and non-violent duties. This would leave an appropriate and safe amount of cops to fulfill a much narrower set of duties.
If there were 100 cops, but 50 were on traffic duty or handling homeless that would leave 50 for street patrol and ādangerous callsā. In the future, those cops writing tickets, handeling the homeless, or doing paperwork/desk duty etc would be from a different agency funded by halving the police budget. that would still leave 50 cops to respond to the robbery. Obviously, very general example, but you can get the idea.
BLM doesnt mention whites as it is already assumed by society that their lives matter. BLM doesnt specifically address black men because there are already many organizations devoted to stopping young black men from killing each other, and that issue has been publicized for years.
This argument you are making is effectively the same as the argument for āAll Lives Matterā, just without the racist dog whistle.
But why? And to what benefit? In Ottawa we have āby-lawā officers for municipal infractions and parking tickets, they do the same shit.

The reason why BLM and the far left loonies are avoiding the real issues is because they donāt want to face a harsh truth. These feminists want to believe in toxic masculinity and how men are the root of all evil.
In the inner cities the young men who are criminals, and there is a significant number of them, are almost all raised exclusively by women. Single mothers are failing to raise children who are not prone to criminality. They are succeeding at raising sociopaths. The inner cities are failing matriarchies. Yet, BLM is pushing for communal raising of children by black mothers. They have given up on black men as part of the family structure. BLM wants to go all in on this failing social experiment rather than promote a home with a father and mother. They see it as some Western convention but someone needs to remind them this is a Western society.
The most important variable when it comes to a child becoming a criminal is the absence of a father.
My argument comes from not wanting any more people I know getting murdered or robbed. It comes from not having wanted the same to happen to me or my family. The founders of BLM and the white leftists who support them, have never known this feeling. Have them go to an ATM in the middle of the night in the ghetto and ask them what they feared at that moment, the cops or the criminals.
Ask them how it feels to see your crackhead neighbor set herself on fire and die in the street. Or the other neighbor who, in the space of a year, went from having a good job, a car and all of her teeth to no job, no car, fewer teeth and prostitution. All while having a high school aged daughter to raise.
BLM doesnāt want the police killing black men while also not wanting black men to raise their children. Makes sense.
I think the thought is that this separate organization would be seen as less threatening by the public, and because it would be new would also not invoke the distrust and dislike caused by years of cops being racist and/or hardasses. this new organization would recruit, train, and function in the field with different goals and approaches than the police forceā¦ more focused on helping, and not necessarily enforcing.
You know how you get nervous when you have to talk to a cop? Im white, and i still get nervous because it feels like im in the principals office in trouble again. Now, think how a black guy/gal feelsā¦ probably significantly worse. The goal would be to avoid creating this adversarial relationship between the public and the new organization. It would be less (possibly none at all) enforcement focused.
You arenā't the only one who has experienced life in the hood, or in a severely economically depressed, crime ridden area. What we have been trying hasnt worked.
