George Floyd Riots

Me too. Not even through the haze of time either. Even in office I was like “This dude is good. What’s everybody so pissed about?”.

My sister hated him.

I changed my mind on him a lot after I read his autobiography (published post White House). I now have a lot of respect for him and his accomplishments. Did he get everything right? Absolutely not, but I don’t think any president has gotten everything right, even the ones we consider “best” (Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, FDR, etc…)

Like SkyzykS said - it would be a giant leap up from the current situation.

I never understood the hate. He made some big mistakes, don’t get me wrong, but he came across as a genuinely good man and leader.

@cyclonengineer

Ya, I’ve read a few of his books. His tribute to his dad in 41 A Portrait of My Father (another great American imo) is one of my favorite books.

As did I. I was more partisan and a bit more conservative when he was in office (perils of being young I suppose), so I recall defending him policywise a lot while in his first term even while I leveled a lot of criticism at him as well. But as far as “person” vs “politician with my leaning”, I didn’t really develop any knowledge about him until later in his 2nd term and post admin. Watching him not respond to criticism while getting hammered was the start, but reading afterwards was the clincher. I did have mad respect for his dad and mom though.

They would. It’s because the protesters are not armed that they are not dead.

Cheney. The actual president.

Dude, he really only shot one person in the face. And it was with bird shot.

That’s not bad for a supervillian.

The restraint is actually admirable. I mean…you know he has to have a doomsday device somewhere close by. I’m still surprised he didn’t set it off at any point in the 8 years.

He has no heart. No matter how hard you try you won’t find a pulse. Yet, he lives.

I don’t have a pulse in my right arm.

So I’m half way there!?!

Score one for the bad guys. Disgraceful.

It’s not a bad derail. I think, Weapons aside, several thousand unified intelligent vigilantes, maybe 10,000, can wreak much havoc.

What do you think the minimum needed would be?

It’s a means, but without an ends.

Something that doesn’t exist.

To achieve what? A few people were able to bring down the Twin Towers. A true movement needs a clear message and goal. It needs a real enemy. Fascism is not a real enemy. Just burn it all down is not a clear message and goal.

Wait. You mean the fascists let people go? No beatings? No torture? Is this some kind of reverse psychology?

That was a concerted effort by a sophisticated and very well funded group carried out over a span of years.

Don’t let the last couple of hours of it fool you.

Yes, but to actually destroy things and kill people doesn’t take many people. Look at Timothy McVeigh.

I look at the effectiveness of the attack.

For terrorists, effectiveness is about how much fear was created. It’s like social media; it’s all about the views.

Right. There have never been intelligent guerrilla fighters in all of history. Every one of their IQ’s have proven to be low. We tested every one of them.

Timothy McVeigh was not 10,000 men.

Time to send in the Millwall supporters.
