I guess so. I don’t see how one comes to that conclusion though.
An appropriate tribute to a fallen hero.
Biden Invites George Floyd’s Family to the WH
Title says it all. Thoughts ?
I don’t have a problem with it personally though I do think it will be blown out of proportion. A lot of people visit the White House.
Honoring the family of a violent career criminal… C’mon dude.
They’re probably all scumbags.
Did someone wear a tan suit?
I mean what did you expect everyone to say yeah fuck this shit? You asked for thoughts. half the forum is already dedicated to race and police type threads. I’d like to think almost everyone has made their thoughts about the Floyd situation known in the myriad of places it’s been discussed over and over again. The last President invited Putin to the White House. Who do we think is responsible for more suffering him or whoever the fuck in Floyd’s family showed up? Even violent criminals don’t deserve to be murdered without a fair trial.
I’m sure the people who already thought liberal socialist assholes destroying this country wouldn’t change their mind if they were invited or weren’t. So I’m guessing this is another overblown how are we not outraged at this moment?
I dunno I didn’t think crying over someone kneeling during a song was a big deal but man some snowflakes did. I could be completely wrong but you did ask for thoughts so I gave mine.
Funny… Nobody seemed to care about his life of dope and violence until after he died.
Murdered ? Oh boy… For such a well written fella I’m surprised you don’t know what a murder actually is.
Negligent ? Yes
Careless ? Yes
Planned under no duress and cool reflection ? Executed ( no pun intended) said plan in broad daylight while being filmed… Good grief.
4.1k replies and this ^ is where we are.
Honestly this debate has been had over and over and over again. Amongst multiple threads over months. If you have a beef with what the jury found I’m fine with that. I merely made my comments on the family going to the White House which historically hasn’t only been a place that saints are allowed in.
I don’t know his family and every detail of their background. I don’t find them visiting the White House to be overly significant. I don’t tend to keep up on who is going and who isn’t going. If they are all horrific people that shouldn’t have been invited well they aren’t the first and won’t be the last.
I think it needlessly further politicizes an already extremely sensitive issue. Poor decision IMO
The Democrats are long past doubling down on race division. That’s who they are.
That’s who they’ve always been. It’s what the party was founded on.
Pandering 101. They apparently don’t know about PedoBiden’s track record of incarcerating blacks
It works very well. We all know there’s a white supremacist behind every blade of grass
The MURDER of George Floyd is an event in american history that was significant enough to spark a sociocultural movement, and have a bipartisan bill to reform policing named after him which passed the house and is waiting on approval in the senate.
The man should not have been murdered on the street that day. full stop. He should be remembered for what killed him, and what he represents, not the quality of person he was IMO. And part of that is inviting his family to the WH to affirm that misdeeds by police are not being swept under the rug or excused anymore and to acknowledge all the other people who have suffered unwarranted abuse, violence, and injustice at the hands of our nations police, past and present. I see it as a gesture of this administrations will to focus on and improve policing (which faux newsies like to confuse with denigrating policing). And who the hell doesnt want to improve policing, and the outcomes of police interactions? Where the politics differ is HOW to improve.
what he represents,
A scumbag criminal whose life of degeneracy finally caught up to him?
are not being swept under the rug or excused anymore
Because cops were never prosecuted and sent to prison before this?
all the other people who have suffered unwarranted abuse, violence, and injustice at the hands of
People like George Floyd?
a gesture of this administrations will to focus on and improve policing
Yes, a gesture that will distract from the real problems facing those who live in the ghetto and the poor in general.
Why not invite the woman whose stomach Floyd pointed a gun at while she was pregnant during a robbery?
Or the poor girls who were taken advantage of by pornographers, and Floyd, who had sex with him on camera. I bet he was a real father figure to those girls.
While you are correct that Floyd was a POS, it isn’t correct what happened to him. It is okay to say we can’t be doing this, and recognize the victim was a career criminal.
When it comes to naming streets and stuff after him, I am not so sure. A bill to reform policing named after him is fitting though.
