I need some advice on selecting a general purpose protein to increase my daily intake. I plan on taking Surge after workouts and Low-Carb Metabolic Drive right before bed. For other times should I be using a Whey or Casein based protein. If Whey, should it be Isolate? Should I look into a protein blend? What products do you suggest?
Metabolic Drive Complete is great as a meal replacement, or you could take Grow! Whey and mix it with milk/water - I sometimes combine the 2 to save Metabolic Drive.
I think that a whey/casein mix would be the best for a slower release and digestion into the body during the day.
What are people’s thoughts on powdered milk?

I agree with this.
I used to use a straight Whey protein, but it messed with my blood sugar too much. Now I stick with Metabolic Drive all the time except immediately post-workout (when I use Surge).
HK what do you mean about the blood sugar? I get up at 730 and drink 1 scoop ON whey with around 16oz water at 745 then start my workout at 8am. I do this on an empty stomach and eat solid food, which is my breakfast at 930 or so.
I am just curious because i have been thinking about getting a whey/casein mix because of my routine that i mentioned above. Maybe it be more beneficial instead of whey alone?

For me, consuming pure whey alone, in water, illicit the same effects as consuming sugar – it causes my blood sugar to fluctuate rapidly.
This is why I use MD at all times other than immediately post-workout.
If you want to minimize cost, I would suggest the straight whey over a mix. You can use it peri- and post workout. If you want to slow absorption, mix with milk or in a shake with cottage cheese.
If cost is not an issue, get both. They both have a purpose.
I have used ON Gold Standard Whey, and thought it worked fine. I have a shipment of Grow! Whey on the way, its cheaper even with the (additional) shipping cost.

The only time isolates are really desired or needed are post workout and Surge has the best whey hydrolysate, so you are covered there. Other times a blend such as in Metabolic Drive is best. A second choice would be a whey only protein and Grow! Premium is my choice there.

aside from the fact that the makers of this site also make Biotest products and that they are top notch, and yes i’m aware that they provide a ridiculous amount of info for free and we should support the site, does anyone here ever recommend any supplement bar Biotest? (cue ridiculous abuse)
