Geek S**T

And before I forget…we really need to clarify our terms here. What do you consider to be the main difference between geeks, nerds, and dorks?

The ability to attract the opposite sex. I can be a geek and still hit the gym. Nerds are pretty much the same as geeks except most seem to use the term to describe academic prowess while Geeks seem to be more into sci fi, strategic games and gadgets (that’s me). Dorks are just clumsy idiots. There are no redeeming qualities to being a dork. It is also a very effective method of birth control.
Works for me.

That definitely puts me into the geek category, except for my ineptitude with gadgets. But I filled that gap by marrying my husband, who excels in gadgetry.

Radiohead is goddamn awesome. Period.

I knew I wasn’t alone on this one. Diablo II was addicting and just plain great. If they made a third with the soul of the second , that would be awesome…

It’s not too late btw. Hell, Indiana Jones came back, diddn’t he?

I watch AOTS every chance I get.

I liked that network better back when it was ZDTV, though. Anyone remember “The Screen Savers”, or “Call for Help”?

I used to love it when it was Tech TV, then G4 had to ruin it, the only good shows on G4 now are X-Play and AOTS.

They certainly did. Remember Banzai!?

I want to see the Black Panther comics made into a movie. Does anyone remember the Christopher Priest series through Marvel comics?

I also love 2000AD comics.

On computer games does anyone play Diablo 2, Starcraft or Age of Empires 3? All very good games. I think I will buy God of War now seeing as Professor X keep’s going on about how excellent it is.

I play d2 occasionally on east.

d2 lod was the best game ever, until everything started being duped and poofing

I wish Blizzard had decided to make a new Diablo instead of StarCraft 2. Oh well…

Starcraft is one of the best strategic games out there. It’s amazing that after so many years that it’s still so popular.

I never liked SC but I loved d1, and DII, and all the warcrafts (except wow). I’m *NoleafClover@Useast if anyone still plays.
Just pm’d you again

I confess that I like Full Metal Alchemist…alot.

I watch quite a bit of animated things, mostly on Adult Swim. My favorite being The Venture Brothers, (I admire Jackson Publick and Doc Hammer tremendously) of which I got my namesake. I like Home Movies, Metalocalypse, basically everything Brendan Small takes part in creating seems to put a big fat smile on my face. My ideal life would put me in music, but short of that…being part of a writing crew creating a show for Adult Swim would be a dream job.

I don’t know if that makes me some sort of geek half breed, but I sure as hell don’t find much common ground for discussion with the Coach purse crowd.

I dunno if this has already been said because I’m just responding to this immediately but…

…MARRY ME.

I actually sent Brendan an email last night simply thanking him for making my life more entertaining…Home Movies and Metalocalypse own.

No, you were the only one to respond with a proposal. I know. I was shocked too. Let’s make animated babies.

They’d be the most brutal babies in the history of babies. BRUTALITY.

Any one else?

If you can place that quote then you too are at the geeky high point (or low point depending on your point of view) that I am.
Traitor, lol

one of you d2 guys on here should give me a xfer

WH40k, BloodBowl, Mordheim and Necromunda are my geeky outlets of choice.

The Big Bang Theory? Anyone?

Sheldon and Penny at the supermarket

S: Well, there’s some value to taking a multivitamin but the human body can only absorb so much. What you’re buying here are the ingredients to a very expensive urine.
P: Well, maybe that’s what I was going for.
S: Well then, you’ll want some manganese…

Any first person shooter fans out there? Ex-Quake 3/Unreal Tournament players?

Duke Nukem 3D? GLQuake?

Hell…Blakestone? Rise of the Triads? Doom 1 Alien Total Conversion cooperative play via 14,4 modem?

BBS’s?

I remember being a kid and my older brother sending me the full version of Wolfenstein 3D on 3 1/2" diskette in an envelope via regular mail. Had just bought myself a SB16. Hooked it up to a stereo receiver and a set of speakers I’d salvaged in the trash.

That oldschool gaming was the shit  I’m tempted to launch a new website just on it.

I grew up on Star Wars, and occasionally watch all six movies over the course of a two or three days. I avoid the Christmas special at all costs. It’s a comfortable level of geekiness.

However, I’m way too excited for The Dark Knight, Ironman and Wolverine movies which are all in different stages of production.

Even “huntersniper” is from when I needed a name for paintball forums, where I used to discuss in depth the pros and cons of each marker, various fields and attack plans.

Currently my inner geek comes out when trying to design my own programs, because some part of me won’t be happy unless I do it myself, even if there is a much more intelligent program somewhere on this site.

Grew up with Doom 2. Did a ton of Doom 1 level editing. I remember playing epic deathmatches with Rise of the Triad.

You know why I’m a geek? Because I can do a dead on voice impression of Inuyasha. :o/

For realz. ipxsetup @ net baby.

The last big FPS for me was Unreal 2004. After that the tactical shooters started to take over. If you ever got fragged by “Redlined” in Quake 3, that was me.

Appleseed-Ex Machina is out on dvd.

This is some of the best computer animation I’ve seen even though I thought the plot was a little light. The fight scenes and gun fights are worth watching, however.
