…and I beat GOW yesterday. The ending takes you directly to the beginning of the first game (the same location and everything). I just wish it had been longer. The game play was done so well I wouldn’t have minded if there was less of a linear plot line and just continuous whoopass.

This is some of the best computer animation I’ve seen even though I thought the plot was a little light. The fight scenes and gun fights are worth watching, however.

I don’t know how I missed this. Appleseed was jaw dropping. The opening sequence made my hair stand on end. A real milestone in animation I thought. I assume this is either a sequel or prequel?

I don’t know the franchise that well. I was never into much anime growing up…because I didn’t have access to it and couldn’t afford it if I did. I just saw the advertisement for it and took a chance on buying it. It was worth it. There were some scenes that literally were jaw dropping. But again, I thought the story was a bit weak.

BSG marathon! Hellz Yeah![/quote]
I can’t stand how they make up cuss words. I have only watched season “2.0” so maybe I don’t have the full story. That season seemed weak to me though.

Yeah, that’s one of the conventions of the show (the cuss word modification) – it’s different, but I’ve haven’t felt it was a detraction.
In it’s defense, 2.0 is only the first half of the second season. It gets stronger (IMO) in the second-half (2.5).
I’m a little biased, though – it’s my favorite program.
I’ve only seen the first eight episodes of season three (sometime early last year), but I’ve heard that it’s the best season so far.

I may give it another chance, but hearing a “frack!!” right in the middle of dialogue just causes me to laugh at the writers.
If I want to see good writing in a show with good acting, I’ll watch House or Lost.

Ya gotta see the first one then. The first 10 minutes is worth the price alone. Wide eyed breathless action. Also I did find out that it is a sequel so seeing the first one would probably lay some foundation for Ex Machina which I ordered from Netflix.
Especially with the relationship between Deunan Knute and Briareos or whatever the cybog’s name was.

It’s a bit soap opera-esque, but it is good if you start from the beginning in my opinion. Much better than I thought it would be.
I bet there’s other anime you would like. Some of the hand drawn ones are flat down masterpieces of film entertainment. Actually Gonzo does some great ones that are both. Try Last Exile for a taste of the maximum of anime magic of any kind. For old hand drawn old classics try Akira, a feature film. For some Japanese mythological/sci-fi goodness in a series try The Vision of Escaflowne. For the utter pinnacle of hand drawn animation with plenty of R rated sorta sci-fi military action try Spriggan. If you’re in the mood for something REALLY “not for kids” try Ninja Scroll. For some waaaaay out there am I cracking up horror/suspense try Perfect Blue.
For some tear jerking (I mean it) true story drama try Grave of the Fireflies. To name a few. For some straight post alien invasion Mecha driven sci-fi try RahXephon.

Self-professed geek right here. Possibly also half a nerd too.
I have been gaming since Space Invaders and Double Dragon.
From there, to Wolf3d, Doom, ROtT, Doom2, Duke Nukem 3d, Quake, Half life and on and on…
I was even the leader of the biggest BF1942 clan in Australia for a while.
One of my favourite series was the Total War range. Mind you, i’m extremely obsessed with medieval warfare and the whole tactics side.
Who can ever get sick of massive battles of War dogs vs. War pigs!!!?
Current obsessions include Oblivion, Guitar Hero 3, Mass Effect and others.

Season three was actually really good. I won’t say too much, but be prepared for some… nevermind, you’ll see.

I did not dig the first one. The CGI was amazing, but the story was pretty “ehhh…” in my worthless opinion. I also prefer traditional animation over CGI.

It was worth seeing for the cgi though in my opinion though. I didn’t dislike the story in the first one, but it wasn’t the greatest either. I like both, but hope cgi doesn’t eventually push traditional animation aside. Ex Machina will be here tomorrow.

Berserk was great, but pretty rough at times and NGE was a classic until the end. The characters were fabulous. RahXephon was what NGE should have been in my view.
