Wow, sounds like you’ve got some insecurity about your WoW habits there, bud.
Nobody bashed this guy because he was playing WoW. Many of us here have played WoW, including me. That article would have gotten the same reaction no matter what the game he was playing.
Did you even notice the amount of money this guy spends playing a video game? How much money he spent on his setup? That’s what we’re commenting on.
Having a home theater setup isn’t even in the same fucking ballpark as that guy’s WoW setup. Having a nice home theater system isn’t even uncommon among the general public. That guy stands out even among WoW enthusiasts.
And get your fucking geek references correct next time. Star Wars and Klingon pussy? Not even close, dude.
How does the amount of money he spends on it determine how big of a “loser” he is. The dude could be filthy fucking rich, you don’t see his bank statements.
And if you’re commenting on the amount of money he spends, then no a home theatre system ISN’T any different, because it servers the same purpose: enhancing your enjoyment of a certain hobby. Insecurity? You’re the one’s who en masse flipped out on a single person because he does something you don’t approve of.
You’re right he does stand out among WoW enthusiasts, but we don’t question whether or not he’s a bed ridden obese virgin, we question how he could possibly control 36 characters at once.
God forbid you address the article on the information it actually displays and not interject your social assumptions about a person who would participate in such activities.
Oh and I made the “mixup” on purpose, because the people that would say shit like that DON’T know the difference, and that’s the point. Way to attack the most pointless part of my post though(all of you, I’m impressed).
You’re the ones talking about how you’re afraid to play the game because you might “become too addicted and lose your social life.” Who’s insecure about their habits now, afraid your buddies might think different of you because you find a game enjoyable?[/quote]
First I want to say that I have wasted plenty of weekends and time playing WoW but I know when enough is enough. It wasnt the monetary aspect of what he does that we are talking about its THE WAST OF TIME!
I dont care what type of program he has, the amount of time it takes to run something like that is hard to fathom. Even if half of them farm on their own he still has to lvl them him self.
Say it takes him 2 weeks to get to 70, and that is fast as hell by any ones standards thats over a year of playing just to lvl them all. Then to be able to farm the top stuff add at least another 2 weeks(and thats the minimum).
Then running instances and pvp to get the gear would take no less than a month and well say thats only for half of his chars. So thats another 18 months.
Total that is playing 8-10 hrs a day for 52 months or 4.33 years. Thats is as long as the game has been out, yes that is making quite a few assumptions but give or take 6 months, I would say that is about right. There is no way you can convinces any one(not just us) that this is a healthy habit or that he has a personal life of any kind.
Like I said I have wasted plenty of money on WoW and even more money on Star Wars. But I can promise that I have wasted much, much more $ on women, friends and things related…and I LOVE Star Wars
"His characters are comprised of 33 shaman, most at level 61, and a priest, mage and druid around level 23.
Using the program Octopus and other macro keys across one keyboard and mouse combo, eight of his eleven computers can be controlled at once, allowing for the simultaneous action and instances across all screens."
I don’t really have anything deeply vested in this discussion, I was more just put off that in a thread dedicated to geek shit, people were so quick to throw the dude under the bus without actually reading anything except “guy plays 36 accounts simultaneously” and a picture of his setup.
I even prefaced what I said by agreeing that I still think it’s pretty crazy, but to each his own, no need to sit here and degrade the guy about how much pussy you think he pulls just because he has that setup(which is insane, I wonder how good the individual systems are).
Anyhow this thread has derailed a lot(and I’m a big part of that) so I’m going to let this be my last point on it, there’s too much other things to discuss, like how awful the reviews for the Max Payne movie are, and how disgustingly awesome Star Ocean 4 looks.
I believe that the fastest time from 1 to 60 is just under 20 minutes using the recruit a friend scheme. Should be a youtube video knocking about somewhere for it.
Anyway, let the PvP recommence
sits back to watch

No way?! Not on any Blizzard server, I would have to see that in person to believe that.

He is just standing there and lvling…no way that is laget
It’s the recruit a friend scheme. I haven’t read the particulars, but there was an uproar about it because it let people level characters very quickly. I think there’s some condition such as you have to have 2 level 60 chars on your account already, but I’m not sure.
Jesus, I sound like WoW geek now, I’ve only played the game a few times, I even got bored and cancelled my subscription.
This MMO shit is too geeky for me. I have to draw the line somewhere.

It’s a little pricey, but I thought this was cool:

It’s pricey because of who it is designed after. I think Reeves has it designed so that some of the proceeds go into stem cell research or research into paralysis.
If I didn’t already have one almost just like that only without the superman symbol he is standing on, I might be convinced to get it. I don’t need two.

You’re right. I had to look it up. I didn’t know that part of the proceeds went to the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation. I’m actually sitting here with my mouse over the “Add to Cart” button as I’m debating pre-ordering it now. It looks like it doesn’t come out until June of 2009, so I might wait a bit.
Speaking of, did anyone else order a few sets of the “Go Forward” Christopher Reeve Foundation tags?
