Fuck that.

I figure it’s time to upgrade anyway. The computer I use at home is not very powerful, so I can’t play most of the games everyone is always talking about. But I’ve been waiting for Fallout 3 since I heard about it last year and it looks way too sick to skip.

Why do you hate consoles so much?

What did an X-box/PS3 ever do to you, huh!?
I actually used to despise consoles, because back when we had the PS1, my computer would run laps around it performance-wise.

Once I got onto an Xbox 1, it was great because of the hard drives, media center and all that stuff - and then came the 360 and PS3 which had me sold.

Not having to upgrade everytime a new game comes up is a nice feature. I still think PC’s rock the hell out of MAC’s, though.

That makes sense. I can understand how true computer geeks might think the earlier consoles were subpar, but I doubt they can claim that now at all.

Besides, I sort of like having one system that handles my movies, music and games without me having to buy anything extra but the game.

I always used to prefer PCs to consoles, but with pretty much needing a new $300 video card if not a completely new system each time a new game comes out, I’ll take a console thank you very much.

Yep. I have Guitar Hero II for my 360 and enjoy the hell out of it, even if the songs aren’t originals. I’m decent at the game; can 5-star all medium songs, play most of the hard songs and can’t even hang in expert.

I’m leaning towards getting Rock Band, only b/c I’m used to the timing windows Harmonix used in GH I&II. I tried to play GH: Aerosmith at a friend’s house and missed a ton of notes as I was anticipating the notes too early and trying to get them precise, not knowing you actually have close to a 1/2 second delay.

The Rock Band song list gets my vote for the inclusions of “Battery” and “Ace of Spades”

Only thing that holds me back from buying Rock Band is that I mostly play games alone, so not sure it’s worth it to buy the whole kit. But, I suppose I could do single-player tours on drums and vocals…I might just wait for the original RB to go down a bit more in price, then pick it up.

Only problem with Guitar Hero and Rockband is that the complete games themselves cost almost as much as the console.

Not for me, thanks.

That’s a pretty big deterrent for me getting Rock Band. It doesn’t help that it’s a party game. Unless you don’t live alone or have people over all the time, the appeal of Rock Band isn’t as high.

However, I will probably get GH 4 eventually, since I already have GH 3.

I also used to prefer PC games. I thought back then that PC games were better and there were a lot more to choose from. These days, it doesn’t seem like there are as many PC games coming out.

Here’s an unusual thing for me. When I was more of PC gamer, I loved FPS games, but I can’t stand playing them on consoles. I just preferred the old mouse/keyboard control combination. I’ve never liked, or have gotten used to, the control of FPS games on consoles. I’d still play FPS games on PC, but those usually require the beefiest systems to get the best performance.

I will say that I think PCs are still better for RTS games, but that’s about the only thing. Everything else I prefer on consoles now.

Then there’s the cost issue. A new video card can cost as much, if not more, than a new console. That’s pretty ridiculous and makes it pretty much impossible to keep your PC up to date with the latest hardware, unless you have unlimited funds.

God, do any of you remember Crusader: No Remorse and its sequel, Crusader: No Regret?

The former had the better soundtrack but the latter had better controls, graphics and weapons.

I’m also ashamed that I never played Baldur’s Gate.

I got one just for a cupple of the song but it was so far behind the others that I played it once and never touched it again and It had great songs on it! Ace of Spades, Cowboys from Hell and some others but you wont play it more than once or twice.

3 was a good game but it dose take alittle getting use to but once you do, you really cant tell the difference. It had some really good songs on it but 2 just had better songs.

Now looking at GHWR its has the better older songs on it like Billy Idol - “Rebel Yell”, Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band - “Hollywood Nights”(great driving song), Creedence Clearwater Revival - “Up Around The Bend”, The Doors - “Love Me Two Times”, The Eagles - “Hotel California”, Filter - “Hey Man, Nice Shot”(not really and old song but one that I love!!), Jimi Hendrix - “Purple Haze (Live)” and “The Wind Cries Mary”…

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? that is what really sells it to me right there.

Then it also has Lynyrd Skynyrd - “Sweet Home Alabama (Live)”, Michael Jackson - “Beat It”, Pat Benatar - “Heartbreaker”, Steve Miller Band - “The Joker”, Sublime - “Santeria”(GREAT GD SONG!) and last(not really, not even close) but sure aas hell not least ITS GOT THE NUGE!! Ted mutha fuck’en Nugent!

Then RB2 has some good classics too but its best songs are in the 90’s with the likes of Alice in Chains “Man in the Box”, Pearl Jam “Alive”, RATM “Testify”, Chili Peppers “Give it Away”, then Avenged Sevenfold “Almost Easy”, Disturbed “Down with the Sickness”, and System of a Down “Chop Suey”.

I would really like to play Man in the Box and Alive but I am just a sucker for the classics and GHWT has RB2 beat hands down in that department.

As far as the games cost, you can always buy the instruments separately and if you dont have anyone to play with you can play online =)

O yes I remember them…I dont really remember anything about them b/c it has been SO LONG sense I have played them though. But I do remember them being fun has hell!

I’ll own up to it. I bought Lego Batman tonight for 360, and I’m damn proud. Those are some fun, careless games to play. Plus I got it for only $40 with my employee discount.

Memories!

Particularly the intro song with the intro screen up, in the beginning of this clip:

I miss the well-thought out adventure games like Myst, Journeyman Project, etc.

There’s no shame in that. I’ve enjoyed every Lego game I’ve played. They’re really well done.

Any geeks share my nostalgia for this?

I remember looking up theme songs and just letting them play, kicking back in the sun in my backyard.

That game spawned a generation of controller pad and button combinations. That was one of the “Pongs” of our generation.

ya know I am waiting for some one to remake Toe Jam & Earl and Earthworm Jim

Oh man, Earthworm Jim was one of the coolest character ‘ideas’ ever. The whole world, all the enemies and the story line. Just nicely done and entertaining.

They should totally do it for the 360, if not then for the PSP - definitely a killer title for a portable.

Anyone recall Vector Man for the Genesis? Awesome game.

Some games are only available on PC or MAC. This is the case with the Fallout games and a lot of other RPG’s. As far as I know, Fallout 3 will only be on a computer platform. I honestly don’t play video games often enough to plop down $600 or whatever obscene price they’re asking for a PS3. I haven’t even bought a new game in about a year–the last one was God of War II. But I 'm a big fan of Fallout, which is the only reason I might spend a couple hundred on upgrading my PC.

I thought Too Human was pretty decent overall. There were some glaring weakness in the game though and it seemed to have been hit by the “rush at the last second to get the game done” that a lot of games seem to be suffering from lately.

The story was semi-weak I was expecting more, the gameplay I found fun, once I learned the controls a little better. Sometimes the gameplay just got irritating as heck when dying a LOT because you’re surrounded by a mob as well as getting shot at from ranged attacks.

That got irritating. The boss fights seemed fairly easy compared to some of the regular fights in the game.

That was ultimately why I got frustrated with the game and took it back. You’re trying to fight off a mob that has you surrounded, yet you’re somehow also taking damage from ranged attacks that doesn’t seem to affect the mob surrounding you.

When you’d resurrect, it would take WAY too long and you couldn’t skip past the animation (dumb). Plus, sometimes they’d respawn you right in the middle of the mob that just killed you, so you were almost certain to die again at the same exact spot.
I’m curious to play it online but currently no Xbox Live. If my son wasn’t still playing it I’d probably take it back to get some store credit for Fable 2 though.

Anyone read the Star Wars: Legacy comic books? I just finished the first 2 TPB’s now really want to know what happens in the 3rd.
