The new Speed Racer looks splooge-worthy.

Reminds me of Kung Fu Hustle in that it knows has absolutely nothing at all to do with reality, and instead of trying to hide the fact, pushes it into overdrive. Literally.

This is gonna be a good year for comics-turned-movies. After last year’s debacle with SpiderMan 3, I’m definitely looking forward to having a solid lineup of superhero movies.

Can’t wait for Superman: Man of Steel, whenever that comes out.

Is the same jackass playing him?

I hadn’t heard about this one. Any links?

And yeah, Brandon Routh is returning. Pretty much everyone is, which I think is great (Spacey as Lex Luthor, I couldn’t see it any other way). I love Superman in general, and Superman Returns was a pretty good movie, even given its almost-unnecessary length.

Im a PC person my self. But there are some games I would rather play on a console. For instance I played Assassins Creed on 360 and PC and it was FAR better on PC. But I want a PSP and a PS3 for games like Chains of Olympus, MGS4, FF XIII, the FF XII remake and the new PSP game as well as Star Wars: The Force Unleashed b/c for some reason its not coming out on PC

Idk, I can’t stand most PC games. I don’t like using mice and keyboards to control stuff. However, 2142 was an AWESOME game, I wish I would’ve played it more than I did (I use Mac now, no luck for me).

Also worthy of mention: Hitman series and Return to Castle Wolfenstein.
I was dissapointed by 2142, I thought Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 1942 were much better. I wish they would remake battlefield 1942 in a new engine. Although they are making a cel-shaded 1942 type 3rd person shooter for free.

Oh, definitely. The new Batman looks really good. I like the direction that Heath Ledger took for the Joker. Not taking anything away from Jack Nicholson’s prior role, but I like the darker feel of the movie they’re taking.

As for Iron Man, it may be more of a rental for me, though.

Now the new Hulk, on the other hand, may actually be good because of Edward Norton. Too bad they still kept the Hulk too damn big.
Somehow I find it difficult to pass Robert Downey Jr as a superhero

I hated that movie. They made Superman one weak individual who looked like he had too much makeup on the entire time and the plot was basic as all hell. They also failed to capture who Clark Kent is (he actually likes being Clark at times because he likes the aspects of being “human”).

I expected more realism in that movie. That is the way every comic and every animated show has gone concerning that character.

Maybe they will do better next time. I will probably still go see it simply because I am a long time fan of the character, but they fucked up with the Returns movie.

I am very surprised you liked it.

Tony Stark was a drunk and a womanizer who simply liked being rich and exploiting other people. He IS Tony Stark. That was why NO ONE thought he was Iron Man in the comics.

The movie lacked real development on every level. The plot was nothing special (how many times has Lex Luthor tried to take over the world?). I agree that they messed up with Clark Kent, as they made it seem like Superman hated being him.

I liked it because it was Superman. I’ve loved him since I was a kid. I doubt they’ll get the next movie right, but like you, I’ll go see it any way. I don’t know how they’ll develop the characters throughout the course of the film, especially with one movie appearance under their belts.

This movie looks great. Just from seeing the preview trailers, I can tell that Downy Jr. is the perfect fit for the role.

If you can place that quote then you too are at the geeky high point (or low point depending on your point of view) that I am.
Ohhh man. I spent a small fortune on 40k between the ages of 12 and 15. Still have all of my models on a shelf…I had about 2500 points of Black Templars that routinely wiped the floor with everyone else at the local hobby shop’s asses.

The Hulk is 10 feet tall in the comics.
Yeah, I realize he’s bigger in the comics than he was on the old show. I guess it just seemed like in the newest one he was waaay too big, and in the trailer for the new one, he looks somewhere around 15 feet tall or so. I can’t really tell for sure, but that’s what it seems in context to people in the street. Either way, I trust Edward Norton.

The Mist is out on DVD now.

I read the Stephen King book before I watched the movie and it honestly is one of the closest book adaptations I’ve seen in a movie aside from the drastically different ending.

Considering I like the movie ending better, I would say they improved it.

However, this is not particularly a “horror movie” but more a movie about how desperate people become (or insane) when in intense situations. The book did a better job of showing this than the movie…but then, no paid actors are required to write a story.

Those looking to actually be frightened should avoid it.

I would label this “suspense”.

The Mist was good. I read the book after the movie and I think I liked the books’ ending a bit more. I liked the ambiguity, compared to the somewhat melodrama that happened in the movie. I did like the huge thing walking through near the end of the movie, though.

Just watched the trailer, definitely worth a look!

You have a point about the ending in the book. He left it dark and disturbing, as if there was no hope at all. The movie made the ending disturbing but less hopeless for the entire world.

I liked the movie but hated the ending.

I didn’t find it disturbing…I thought it was cheap and corny. Like an old Twilight Zone.

In the book, they all die at the end with the lead being the one writing the story down before he dies. The underlying premise seems to be that the Mist blanketed the whole world destroying most of humanity as they were never able to get in contact with anyone.

I thought the movie ending did a better “oh shit” job than that.

Besides, I liked The Twilight Zone.

I love the Twilight Zone, that was a bad analogy.

It was more like a cheesy M.Night Shyamalan ending.

(FTR I liked Unbreakable)
