Geek S**T

I love the Twilight Zone, that was a bad analogy.

It was more like a cheesy M.Night Shaymalan ending.

(FTR I liked Unbreakable)

You just can NOT compare this movie to an M.Night Shaymalan piece of crap.

That’s just unholy and evil.

Sidenote:
I liked Unbreakable too. That was supposed to be one of a series of movies but it didn’t do so well at the box office. I think if they had come out with it now (in light of the many other comic book movies that weren’t around back then) it would be accepted for what it was much better.

Holy crap…a Stephen King adaptation from one of his more horror-esq stories that doesn’t suck donkey balls?

It surprised me too. But then, he seems to do well when the movie is based on a book that has more to do with problems between humans and not a bunch of scare tactics. Shawshank Redemption and The Greenmile are now classics.

The previews were misleading too, people were expecting another Sixth Sense. Although the previews aren’t totally to blame for that.

The ending to Unbreakable is one of my favorites of all time.

This has done more for me personally than any other website I can think of. I don’t know if it counts as geek shit or not. From a pure nerd perspective I think my ability to program in Python would put me in a certain “not going to get laid anytime soon” class.

Also, this is my favorite show:

Which is exceptionally geeky. I pirate it through private trackers and half the time I have no idea what they’re talking about, but I enjoy it anyway.

I hadn’t heard about this one. Any links?

And yeah, Brandon Routh is returning. Pretty much everyone is, which I think is great (Spacey as Lex Luthor, I couldn’t see it any other way). I love Superman in general, and Superman Returns was a pretty good movie, even given its almost-unnecessary length.[/quote]

I’m pretty sure Man Of Steel and Justice League are canned until 2010. Superman Returns barely broke even and Warner Bros was expecting much better performance at the box office. The superkid plot twist wasn’t to well recieved either, which is too bad, I liked the idea and its future possibilities. Another problem is the writing team kinda cheesed on creating an original story and rehashed the Superman I conflict, minus the time travel. It was rumored WB was gonna wipe the slate clean with the next movie ala “James Bond : Casino Royale”.

On one hand I liked that they went back to the old movies and re-entered that universe, on the other hand I wish they would make a movie on Comic Book Superman. Maybe some thing on the lines of the “For Tomorrow” Jim Lee/Azarello team up, but that probably wouldn’t be a Superman the general public would recognize.

Overall I liked the movie, and am looking forward to future installments.

Unbreakable was a really good movie. I didn’t think the Sixth Sense was bad per se, but Shamylan’s (sp?) slow-paced “directing” style got worse and worse with each movie after Unbreakable. His roles in his movies became increasingly larger and larger, too. Imagine that.

I saw Rambo last night. I liked the idea of Rambo not being entirely responsible for all the glory. I need to admit that it is obviously impossible to dodge all flying bullets, in defense this is after all a movie based on a character that steps away as the ultimate hero. In response to the gore factor, I doubt the film could have taken another direction. This is the very last time we will see John Rambo in action, the all or nothing approach worked well and it is a fair ending for a legend.

I’ve yet to see the movie. I heard a blurb on NPR about it last friday, it’s very popular in Vietnam.

I really enjoyed Unbreakable. Not too sure about the Sixth Sense. As yet I have avoided the rest of his movies.

Also the guy who directed both those movies did the directing for The Mist, that’s why it was as cool as it was. Side note if I"m ever trapped in a supermarket during the apoclypse and a religious fanatic starts spouting verses I’m killing them first and eating them for nourishment

Also loved Unbreakable, but most of you probably already knew that due to my comic geekhood.

Anyone here like Star Wars?

The ultimate geek test, yes! The Revenge of the Sith got me hooked.

Hayden Christensen ruined that movie. And so did his 2-second decision on turning to the Dark Side. Still a GREAT movie though. All time favorite.

Agreed on all points except the “all time favorite” one. I like ROTS the best among the newer Star Wars films, but it doesn’t even come close to the original 3.

As for Hayden, you guys hear he’s going to be the main character Case in a movie adaptation of Neuromancer?

If that wasn’t bad enough, the director is Joseph Kahn who directed the infamous turd Torque.

What do you guys think of I am legend? I went to see it when it first came out and I just got the dvd. For me its one of the best movies of all time.

Really? I liked it up until Will died, the ending was weak in my opinion.

Watch the alternate ending its way better. And funnier.

To me the sub-standard CGI of the creatures ruined the movie. I know it sounds like such a ticky-tack thing, but whenever something I consider an error keeps popping up in a movie (similiar to bad sound/lighting), it keeps me from enjoying the story. On a big budget movie like this, any CGI used should be top-notch. Otherwise don’t use it at all.

To each their own.
