Yeah, I agree, it’s actually good! I couldn’t stand the fact that the predators ‘teamed up’ with the humans. That would never happen; no way, no how.
They actually spent time on character development which shocked me. I bought the “Unrated version” so I don’t know what the theatrical version was like, but this is the first action/sci fi movie I’ve seen in a long time that actually made you give a shit about who the characters involved were.

In the other one, they just threw some random people together, a group of predators, some bad acting/writing, and a shit load of special effects.

I like seeing only ONE Predator.

I just picked up the very first one havent seen it in a long time the new ones dont even come close to it for me!

BTW i might have you guys beat in some Geek-dom…

I like to build Knex weapons and roller coasters, i search craigslist and garage sales for people selling their kits so i can buy some extra parts.

i had a war in the dorms in college with a few friends using these

I think the PSP is the best hand held on the market. Rumor has it they are thinking of adding a “cell phone” package. If they do, I don’t think anything will beat it. The only negative is that if you plan on taking good care of it, you need a carrying case for it which makes it way too large to fit into any pocket.
See, I had a Nintendo DS back when they first came out, but I rarely played it. It was a great handheld, but I’m not much of an on-the-go gamer. Regarding the PSP, I think it’s great. I’d like to see them add another analog nub so that it’s more like a console controller, but that’s only nitpicking on my part. If they made a PSP/phone device, I’d be pleasantly surprised and might give it a shot.

As for handhelds in general, dedicated handheld gaming just isn’t my thing. Like I said, I liked my DS, but I ended up selling it because it didn’t fit my “lifestyle.” I’d rather sit at home with friends or family and play Halo or Madden or whatever other game we get our hands on.

P.S.-> The GTA games for the PSP are fantastic, Professor. Definitely worth it.

Yeah, the first one was really disappointing, especially for a life-long Alien/Predator fan. I think the second one was drastically better mainly because I went in with really, really low expectations. If they found ways of keeping the story creative and interesting, I wouldn’t really mind a few additional installments of AVP.

As long as there’s a bunch of geeks here, I have to ask the big question: What are your guys’ favorite games? Console or PC, it doesn’t matter.

For PC, it’d definitely have to be the old-school King’s Quest game, or maybe the original F.E.A.R. (Scared the shit out of me in the middle of the night.)

As for console, I can’t narrow it down to one game, but I’d have to say Final Fantasy VII, Kingdom Hearts series, God of War series, and probably Super Mario Island and Super Mario 64. For honorable mentions, I’d throw in Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

I’m actually not an RPG whore, as much as it may look seem.

Final Fantasy VII definitely gets the nod as one of my all-time favorites. The GTA series. Metal Gear Solid 2. Halo series. Madden. Battlefield 2142 and Modern Combat. There are probably others, but they’re not coming to mind right now.

This one is pretty much on par with the first Predator movie, in my opinion. I wish they had come out with this one first. More people would have seen it in theaters. I avoided it because I thought it would suck.

On the movie topic, has anyone seen the the new Rambo?

Me and my friends came up with^

Does this count as Geek Shit?

Havent seen the new one yet but I really want to. predator is one of my favorite franchises. I think the first AvP would have been better had it been R. Its like when they made Conan: The Destroyer PG-13 instead of R so the kids would go see it. Some things should just be R.

As a side note thet are trying to remake Conan the way they are doing with lots of movies and the “rumor” is the guy that played Lianitus(im sure I spelled that wrong) in 300 might play Conan

Im a PC person my self. But there are some games I would rather play on a console. For instance I played Assassins Creed on 360 and PC and it was FAR better on PC. But I want a PSP and a PS3 for games like Chains of Olympus, MGS4, FF XIII, the FF XII remake and the new PSP game as well as Star Wars: The Force Unleashed b/c for some reason its not coming out on PC

I ment the schwarzenegger predator just to be clear, as for games FF VII for me! Anyone played the new one for the psp yet?

Idk, I can’t stand most PC games. I don’t like using mice and keyboards to control stuff. However, 2142 was an AWESOME game, I wish I would’ve played it more than I did (I use Mac now, no luck for me).

Also worthy of mention: Hitman series and Return to Castle Wolfenstein.

So Wednesday I re-up on my comic book stash(I’m like a junkie) and the latest Toyfare is out. I enjo9y flipping through the pages and seeing the stuff coming out, new transformers, Mcfarlane stuff etc, and what do my eyes see?? In the new Hulk movie figures has a titanium man figure, now we know Downey and Samuel l. will be in both films does this mean that we will we see more armored marvel characters, crimson dynamo, aresenal, war machine(for the EXTREME HUR!!! fans)?

Speaking of comics, I’m a big time Hulk fan. Loved following the Planet Hulk and World War Hulk series last year. He’s just a misunderstood dude that wants to be left alone, then they go and piss him off, and he’s a raging Mr. Olympia.

And to Mavric, I didn’t really care for the new Rambo. As much as I appreciate some gore and violence, it just seemed a bit over the top.

I think that’s sort of why Rambo is Rambo, though. Disregarding First Blood, which was actually a good movie, the second two were just belligerant. Twenty guys shooting at each one man, and not a bullet seems to hit him. Good movies, though.

Anyone else looking forward to Iron Man and the new Batman?

Oh, definitely. The new Batman looks really good. I like the direction that Heath Ledger took for the Joker. Not taking anything away from Jack Nicholson’s prior role, but I like the darker feel of the movie they’re taking.

As for Iron Man, it may be more of a rental for me, though.

Now the new Hulk, on the other hand, may actually be good because of Edward Norton. Too bad they still kept the Hulk too damn big.

The Hulk is 10 feet tall in the comics.
