I’m not personally, but I’m holding onto some neat gear my friend bought not too long ago - a 24MP Sony A900, 5 lenses ranging from 70mm-600mm & 2 16gb memory cards. There’s pics a few pages back.

Cheers! I go take a look.

Here is a big surprise F.E.A.R 2 has been banned in Australia

In other Geek News, Hugh Jackman is already talking sequel for Wolverine. Silver Samurai any one?

Also looks like Fable 2 will be coming to the PC. I bet I can count on seeing GoW2 as well down the line. Guess there is no such thing as a Xbox exclusive, and everything is better on the PC =)

I have full faith in Ubisoft Montreal. They brought us Assassin’s Creed which has one of the most complex control systems I’ve ever seen; yet, somehow, they managed to make it work without confusing the player. That elegance in design is what Ubisoft is good at and I really want to see how they carried it over into the new PoP game.

From the IGN review it looks like they scored big time. Their game designers are brilliant.

Ubisoft… one of the most underrated companies around right now, definitely. Just look at the track record.

So I know I forfeit some geekery points for this, but I actually never got around to playing any of the three PoP games for the PS2… is it important to play them at all, or are they all kind of like Zelda - where it’s the same basic shit every time? The new game looks fantastic, but as far as the storyline and lore is concerned, I’m out of the loop.

I never played any of the first three either so dont feel bad. This one is a reboot of the franchise so it wont hurt if you never played the others.

Now I wish Ubisoft would do something with the Rainbow 6 franchise. For being “tactical shooters” the last few have been much more shooter than tactical. The old Rouge Sphere games and the Rainbow 6 for N64 were the best.

I don’t have the interview on hand, but the CEO of Epic, the makers of GoW2, stated that the sequel will not come to the PC because of piracy concerns.

In his own words (roughly):

“The gamer savvy enough to build a PC to run games like GoW2 is also savvy enough to use BitTorrent to pirate those games.”

True, but a dick move. PCs will always reign supreme…too bad.

Meh we’ll see. Microsoft is the the publisher and Im sure if they put their foot down and want to make it a “Games for Windows” Mr. Sweeney wont have to much to say. Either way, there are very few “exclusives” any more no matter what platform its for.

Given, but I still liked Vegas (mostly)… Great co-op game.
Then again, I miss the flawlessly executed assault-plans from R6 Rogue-Spear etc.

I actually don’t use any file-sharing progs anymore… If I want to play something, I buy it. I used to dl everything back when nobody cared about that in Germany, but now that they really are on the lookout and a whole bunch of people (some living not too far away from me) have been taken to court for even minor stuff, I won’t do anything illegal anymore. Not worth the trouble and I earn enough to pay for my games and music… (not that I have all that much time for gaming, anyway).

And I’m glad that they make most games available on most platforms. Would suck if you couldn’t play a great game just because you own the wrong platform (happens anyway, but if that were happening all the time, man…).

Besides, people have always managed to make better and better emulators and rip console games so that you could ultimately play them on the PC… I doubt that anything will stop the piracy anytime soon. People always find a way to get what they want.

Developers and Publishers need to get their heads on straight and profit from games the way Valve does: Huge community, even if most half-life/CS etc versions are probably copies these days it’s all very popular and in the end the company manages to get sponsors or wring profit out of their popularity.

Sucks for small companies for sure… But that’s the same everywhere, from electronics to food production. Small companies are always at the butt-end. Unless they find a new/unique niche/market for themselves or join a bigger company…

I’m the same way now. I could justify it when I was a broke student, but I can’t now…and the viruses you end up getting from many of them eventually ruin your computer.

I will download movies and music, but if it’s good I’ll end up buying the CD most of the time, same with the movies. Cinema’s are a rip off here - last movie I went to see was TDK for obvious reasons.

As for games, I don’t bother with downloading them anymore - this was the reason I bought a console. Games are also a bit overpriced when first released ($80+), however after a month the price usually halves and it’s worth the purchase.

FYI - Target has Dead Space for $30 if anyone hasn’t bought it yet. I was going to rent it but $30 is too good to pass up, so my sister got me a copy when she went Black Friday shopping.

I have too many games to play now.

And that must be one awesome sister you have there

Ha, well I’m paying her for it, otherwise she would’ve said F you and moved right along.

Amazon also has MK Vs. DC Universe for $40, I may get that too.

Naw, she’s totally an awesome sister. My sisters would’ve seen something I really really want, that I have wanted for years, in my size and whatnot, for 90% off, and emailed me about it a couple of days after the sale ended.

Sorry about the late reply applesauce, I try to keep up but people post when I least expect it. You can skip the training stage without any issues although you get an achievement for beating it. I’ve beaten the game twice on normal, and hard. It’s been a fun and refreshing experience. I’ve also gotten around 23 stars on the time trials and I’ve yet to do the freeruns for the stages so all in all I’d say that the game has at LEAST 18 hours of replay.

I’m already on Chapter 7 (The boat). The first 2 chapters were frustrating because I’m not use to the controls, but once I got them down it’s pretty fuck awesome. I’m definitely going to trophy whore this game for that platinum trophy, lol.

does anyone read at all? and can recommend good books I’m trying too read brave new world but I don’t like how its written in older English(if that makes sense)

So just doing some more browsing, at the moment this seems like one of the better receivers I’ve come across - 7.1, 4 HDMI’s, 7x100w & 1080p. Around $800. Any good?

http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/page/moreinfo.cfm/Product_ID/4763

All electronics here are almost double what they are in the States, it’s crap - a Denon receiver that costs $750 is almost 550pounds here.
