Isn’t it so annoying to wonder how it would have turned out had they gone in the other direction with Ellie’s character at the end? I loved the ending because it fits perfectly with Joel’s personality and it keeps up with the darkness of the rest of the game quite a bit, but I still would have loved an alternate, even if it’s just an extended cutscene slapped on in an unlockables section.
I liked it because personally it’s what I would have done in the situation, it’s nice for a game to show how you can be humane yet not care for humanity.

I genuinely thought I was too late coming into the room, heart was pounding haha.

You were right about the winter part, definitely the strongest part of the game and the most tense.
Yeah, the winter part was incredible. I was even awkwardly charmed by that slapped-on boss fight they had, and I adored the cutscene that followed it. Yeah, I enjoy when things are never black and white. I’d like to think I’d make the opposite decision as Joel, but I’ve never had kids, or even a little sister or something.
I loved the boss fight haha, was the most terrified I had been all game when he was sprinting about with the machete. Yeah the cutscenes after was just great, it’s great for games to actually have character development, the fate speech reveal made me lose my mind lol

For me personally I just see the choice made as a statement that a cure for the virus isn’t humanity’s saviour, but learning to trust and care for others rather than making cold calculated decisions is. Fits with the Romereoesque theme that the true antagonists of the games are truly the humans.
It was so good, but so strange that there was only one and it came so randomly with a couple chapters still left to go. Bit of a strange development choice, but at least it’s unpredictable and I’m kind of glad it happened like that. Yeah, caring for others blah blah blah, I got just under 150 points on the emotional disorder test thread, I would have made the alternate decision for a 1/2 portion of ribs and some side salad. It’s a little strange, because they know that they’re going to die out, unless Ellie’s kids were also automatically immune by the gene code, but then humanity has a bottleneck so they’re fucked either way.

Joel’s character is predisposed to his position I guess, for all his stoicism and methodical planning, his emotions still run deep enough to make that kind of choice.
You’re just a Firefly loving motherfucking and I’m gonna shiv your cold heart.

I look forward to what they do with the sequels
Inb4 Ellie would grow up to make the choice that Joel never did herself.
Lol you wish, on the cold/calculating factor scale you rank in at Randall for Monsters Inc.

Here are my top ten!

1.Halo 2—I absolutely played the shit out of this game. Honestly, my favorite MP game of all time. Endless hours and memories.
2.Halo
3.MGS 4
4.Socom 2
5.COD MW
6.Rainbow Six Vegas
7.Syphon Filter
8.Crash Bandicoot
9.Saints Row
10.Ratchet and Clank—pretty much all of them.

Jumped back on Fallout New Vegas this weekend. I forgot how good that game is (Fallout III is my favorite game and I think 2nd best game ever made). Ended up playing through a couple of the DLCs, Lonesome Road & Heart something. They were both pretty good. Lonesome Road was the better of the two and took longer. It also offers a couple of interesting endings.

If anyone hasn’t played Fallout III or New Vegas I’d highly suggest jumping on them. I think they both have a GOY edition with all the dlc’s.
Hell yes, Fallout III and NV are two of the best games of this console generation. Both are better than Skyrim in my opinion.

I actually prefer New Vegas slightly over Fallout 3. Its more of an expansion, but thats not a bad thing. It takes everything good about III, expands about it, and puts it in a more interesting and fun location with more interesting factions. Ive played through that game 3 or 4 times now.
Ya, I get what your saying. I have thoroughly enjoyed both. I guess I liked DC more so than NV to explore. It does feel like an expansion, which is why I think I like it a little less. After playing the GOY addition of FO III to 100% completion, it felt like a GIANT DLC. Not a bad thing at all.

Also the way I look at it is NV wouldn’t be the same game without the breakout III was. It’s the same reason I still put The Legends of Zelda above The Legends of Zelda Ocarina of Time on my “best” list. Both games defined their generation (NES & N64), both revolutionized gaming, but Ocarina wouldn’t exist without the original. Hell a lot of the appeal was seeing characters we’ve known for years become 3D.

It’s just how I look at things I guess.

This could be fun. List your top 5-10 games of all time.

1a. Fall Out III
1b. The Legends of Zelda
3. The Legends of Zelda Ocarina of Time
4. Golden Eye 64
5. Call of Duty IV: Modern Warfare
6. Fall Out New Vegas
7. Super Smash Brothers Melee
8. Mario 64

That’s all I can thin of off the top of my head. I’m sure many people will have a very different list.
Ill play;

  1. Final Fantasy VII (No its not overrated, yes its better than 6)
  2. Final Fantasy series, specifically VIII, IX, X, X-2 and Tactics
  3. Mass Effect series (Best RPG series since the PSX)
  4. Fallout series (current gen)
  5. Assassin’s Creed series
  6. Grand Theft Auto series
  7. TIE: Crysis 1/Warhead/Far Cry 3
  8. TIE: Diablo II/Starcraft II
  9. Uncharted series
  10. TIE: Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance series/Champions of Norrath series
    10)Age of Mythology

Honorable mentions; Kingdoms of Amalur, The Witcher 2, Dynasty Warriors series (guilty pleasure), Gran Turismo series, Star Wars KOTOR series

I havent picked up The Last of Us yet, but im sure thatll knock the 10 spot off the list, and i have no doubt when the Witcher 3 comes out it will rank highly, along with MGS 5. Lots to look forward to.

Here’s my list, I tried to not focus too much on the recent generation of games, even though that is freshest in everyones mind:

  1. Super Mario World - the best 2d platformer ever. Still shocks many how many ways there are to beat so many levels.

  2. Batman AA/AC - made me feel like I was the Batman, enough said.

  3. Resident Evil series - 1-3 have a special place with me, 4 was good too, I enjoyed 5 for what it is, and I keep putting off playing 6.

  4. Grand Theft Auto series - I had the original top down game on my PC back when it came out. Vice City was my favorite of the first 3 3D versions. Didn’t care for 4 too much but loved The Lost and the Damned expansion.

  5. Shadow of the Colossus - one of the most unique games I’ve ever played.

  6. Donkey Kong Country - close 2nd place for best 2d platformer, one of the best game soundtracks ever.

  7. Crash Bandicoot series (PSOne trilogy) - best 2.5D platformers, Naughty Dog was awesome even back then.

  8. Tomb Raider series - from the original that I had on my PC to the reboot, I’ve never played a Tomb Raider game I didn’t like.

  9. Metal Gear Solid series - first game I played that seemed on the same level as movies for story telling.

  10. Castlevania series - from the NES original, to the amazing Symphony of the Night on PSOne, to the awesome Lords of Shadow, Castlevania games have always been some of my favorites.

Not an easy list to compile, and cheated by listing series instead of individual games.

Damn forgot about:

Star Wars Battlefront
MGS4
Batman AA (I thought it was better than city)
Unreal Tournament as well (1 of only 3 PC games I’ve ever played)

I haven’t noticed a lot of love for NES, SNES, Genesis, PS, PS2, or even 64. Do most people feel the current Gen is where the best of the best are at?

Top 10 series of all time:

  1. Zelda - A ton of games, content, and has on more than one occasion revolutionized the industry.
  2. Call of Duty
  3. Fallout
  4. Halo
  5. Mario
  6. Super Smash Brothers
  7. Grand Theft Auto
  8. Killzone
  9. Battlefield
  10. Shinning Force (Oh ya I added a Sega Genesis series)

Honorable mentions:
-Uncharted: So close to making the list!
-Assassins Creed: Thought after AC Brotherhood the series got a bit stale
-Batman AA/City: Huge Batman fan, but I’m not convinced after only 2 successful games
-Resistance: A lot of folks don’t like the series, but I’ve enjoyed all 3.
-Metroid: Awesome history, but nothing new for a while now.
-Star Wars Rogue Squadron: Loved these games!
-Saints Row - Goofy version of GTA (Who doesn’t enjoy smacking a gang banger across the face with a giant purple dildo bat??).
-Crysis: Enjoyed 2 & 3 (never played 1). Fun, but didn’t draw me in like other games.

I would say the psx and ps2 generations are equal to the current gen in terms of quality games, you’ll see my list included several. If there’s to be a generation that truly ends up outshining the others, it may be the coming generation.

The bottom line is that if you put nostalgia aside, all the generations before psx simply werent capable of crafting a gaming experience on par with what we saw after that. There were great games, but most people are too fogged up by nostalgia and sentiment to admit that A Link to The Past or FF6 arent actually the best RPG’s ever.

Also, if you actually played Crysis 1 or Warhead, it may be in your top 10. Both of those are FAR superior than the rest of the series (which is still very good)

You know I was never into final fantasy. A lot of people really like it that’s for sure.

Hmmm, well I got Crysis for free with Crysis 3. Maybe I’ll go ahead and download it.

I’ve never even heard of Warhead

I’ll throw some of my favourite games into the ring.

Blades of steel
Mortal combat
WcW Nwo Revenge
Punch out
Knockout KIngs 2001
Hitman series
Assassins Creed
Zelda ocarina of time?
COD series, besidemw3 sucks ass.
Spiderman Maximum Carnage
Lion king for genesis
Skate
NHL FIFA MADDEN
NFL Blitz
Rush car racing for 64
Twisted metal was alright.
Bioshock,
Farcry.
These are ones I remember playing and actually having a good time. Unlike those dumb ass spy vs spy games where you run around looking for shit. Or that simpsons game where you spray paint stuff with no clear indication of what the fuck your supposed to do.

I always like Wrestlemania 2000 (N64). I think that’s what it was called. Spent hours remaking epic Hardy Boyz vs. Edge and Christians ladder matches.
