There is no god a Captain Planet live action movie really?? Really??? Really???
Holy crap
Cartoon Network announced that they have signed a development deal to adapt their environment friendly super hero Captain Planet into a live action feature film complete with Planeteers.
Cartoon Network has set up a development deal with Angry Filmworks to produce a live action Captain Planet movie. Don Murphy and Susan Montford will spear head the project and have the exclusive rights to the character.

I’m not sure how to respond to that.
All I remember was that was a cheesy cartoon.
It was like what you watched before something better came on.
This is nowhere near the same level as Transformers. Even kids who watched this shit knew it was cheesy back then.
It is a little hard to do “power rings” and teenagers without being a complete joke.
Unless they make this a comedy, I’ll wait until they blow me away with some Micheal bay planet powers in CGI…but I doubt we will even get that.
Then again, maybe this will be the best movie ever made.
wasn’t capt planet made outta ice… i wonder how they are gonna do that without making him look like an avatar alien… also didn’t he have a weird mullet like haircut…
i hope this isn’t like the live action DBZ which was horrible… btw
another interesting tidbit on way the capt planet movie is being produced:
Producers say that the property’s entertainment value will dovetail with a larger timeliness. ?With the earthquakes, tornadoes, melting icebergs and all the other problems threatening the world right now, Earth really needs her greatest defender,? said Montford. No cast or filmmakers have been brought on board yet.

Are they gonna be cliche’d stereotypes of cultures like the actual captain planet? Then, that would be AWESOME! A lazy mexican kid a alcoholic hot russian broad, a Broseph esque American dude, a Asian broad, and a black as pitch black dude that wears a Dashiki. Awww man that would be the best remake ever!
Of course It has to be a comedy. Captain planet is too absurd to make into some sort of action packed straight laced movie. I mean… Captain planet wears a mullet for christ sake.
Yea me either it popped up on my FB from Spill. Just thought it was weird that they would even try. Did you see who is producing it?
Leonardo Di Caprio was partly financing it and pushing to bring it to America. That was some 18-24 months ago. Personally, I don’t care. I’m happy with the anime, and don’t view live action film as the penultimate form of cinema. However, one can never have too many post-apocalyptic movies set in New York.

I dont know, to me the overall topic of movies doesnt fit in here, now comic book movies etc does. I keep saying someone should make a thread dealing with everything about all movies.
Agreed.
I want us to pick 5 people who actually like movies so T-Nation can have it’s own “Spill.com”.
Agreed, but not only like, have some fucking balance. Not go watch Expendables and then bitch about lack of character development and the love story between Statham and his cracker no ass girlfriend.
WTF? Did you come down with a bad case of the gay?

Dude I am married to a Mexican woman, sorry that is not an ass.
Due out next month Batman Year One the comics that Nolan based Batman Begins was based on, Catwoman is being played by the ever sexy Eliza Dushku
Yeah, Frank Miller’s Year One, Dark Knight Returns, and Dark Knight Strikes Again books are considered some of the most groundbreaking and influential books/story arcs of all time, and with good reason. His stuff is incredible. I’m really looking forward to this film; hope they do the book justice.
On a side note, I’m starting to get into the DC Universe and animated comic book films and would like some recommendations. Batman is my favorite comic book character, so that’s mostly what I’m looking for, but other suggestions are welcome (heck, they don’t even necessarily have to be DC for that matter). I already own Gotham Knight and I plan on picking up Under the Red Hood very soon. How about Superman/Batman: Apocalypse? That worth checking out?
X, I know you’re one of the more prominent animated film fans around here. Hit me with some stuff.
Batman: The Animated Series 1992-1995
This series is responsible for casting Kevin Conroy ans Batman, and Mark Hamill as the Joker. Probably the best voice talent (arguably the best actors period) for those two characters ever. This series also created Harley Quinn who was so awesome that DC included her in the comic books. Which subsequently led to the Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Catwoman team-up. Renee Montoya was also created for the animated series who has since become the new Question in the comic books and betrayed Maggie Gyllenhal in the last Batman movie. This show almost single-handedly revitalized Batman antagonists like Mr Freeze, the Ventriloquist, Clayface, and Mad Hatter. This is probably one of the best renditions of Batman ever.
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm
Arguably the best Batman film ever. It goes into the origin of Batman, but doesn’t feel contrite or repetitive. It pays heed to the Bruce Wayne/Batman dynamic and the consequences of past choices. The story is on par with Shakespeare’s classic tragedies, quite sad at times, violent at others, and entertaining throughout.
From there checkout the Justice League and Justice League Unlimited animated series. You may also enjoy Superman: The Animated Series as well.
As for the DC animated movies. There isn’t a bad one in the bunch. All Star Superman might be my least favorite, but that’s just because they tried to fit too much story into a 75 minute film. I say watch them all.
On the Marvel side watch Planet Hulk, and Hulk vs Wolverine.

^ Cant see at work, but now you are playing as Death correct.
Yes. Death is out to prove his brother, War’s, innocence and resurrect man kind. Death will be a more agile and lithe character. They are ditching the blocking ability that War had, which should free up a trigger to be used for something else. This is good as blocking tends to be stupid in most games like this. I never mastered the counter attack in Darksiders which seems odd as I pretty well mastered it in Ninja Gaiden 2 and Bayonetta.

All star superman sucked ass.
I threw that dvd out the car window doing 65…and then stopped the car, threw it in reverse, and ran back over it doing 35.
Yeah. Cramming 12 issues of a comic book maxi-series, where each issue was essentially a stand alone story, into a 75 minute film didn’t work out so well. Had it been made into a 12 episode animated series then it probably would have been much better.
After finishing up watching Starz Camelot series I stumbled onto this little gem of a TV series. PainKiller Jane. A secret government agency is tracking down dangerous neuros and “chipping” them. If you replace “neuro” with “mutant” and place the story in the Marvel universe, then you have a pretty interesting story. A secret government agency is hunting and tagging mutants. The “chips” nullify their mutant powers and then the mutants are placed in a government run internment camp. All this would be going down around a time when Professor Xavier would be writing his thesis on genetic mutations and prior to the creation of the first X-Men team. In the Marvel comics universe these guys would be the bad guys, but in the show they are the protagonists giving one two different perspectives. It gets better when the characters start to question the ethics and morality of the team’s objectives. I’m only 6-7 episodes in, but it’s pretty good.

My all time favorite right here (I’m not a huge comic guy so take that FWIW). The Batman TAS game on the original gameboy is also one of the best (only behind Batman AA) Batman games ever.
This reminds me that I need to sit down a re-watch all of these. Now to just find the 30 hours of time it will take to re-watch all of the episodes.

IDW Publishing is daring fans to switch to a vampire franchise with some teeth! This year at San Diego Comic-Con, in an unprecedented promotion, fans can turn in any copy of a Twilight book or graphic novel at the IDW booth #2643 for a free copy of a 30 DAYS OF NIGHT graphic novel! IDW is vowing to help vampire fans get back on track with the undead the way they were always meant to be: bloody and terrifying. “Real horror fans have watched vampires systematically turned into wimpy fodder for years now. It’s time to fight back” said Niles. “I’m happy to be working with IDW on the Sparkles for Blood event. Hopefully, working together we can put an end to this nightmare.”
IDW's exclusive "Sparkles for Blood" outreach program is designed to help all fans of the undead get what they really want - bloody, vampire horror. Sprung from the twisted minds of Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith in 2002, 30 Days of Night graphic novels and major motion pictures offer vampires as the feral, animalistic creatures that stalked humans under cover of night that they really are.
"Recently, vampires in pop culture have started to swing back to the romanticized vamps of other literature and films before 30 Days of Night," said IDW chief creative officer, Chris Ryall. "In some cases, they're even being treated more as chaste immortal teenagers than as the murderous creatures that they are. 'Sparkles for Blood' will remind everyone that vampires are creatures of the night, not of the twilight."
As part of the book-swap being offered to fans at Comic-Con, everyone who receives a 30 Days of Night graphic novel in trade for their sparkly novel will also receive information about the coming 30 Days of Night ongoing series. Written by 30 Days co-creator Steve Niles, with art by acclaimed artist Sam Kieth, this first-ever ongoing 30 Days of Night series kicks off very appropriately in October.
"We may need a forklift at the end of the show, for all the Twilight books," says Dirk Wood, IDW's director of retail marketing. "But it will be worth it. It's time to start scaring people again."
Every lapsed 30 Days of Night fan and sparkly vampire purveyor is invited to the IDW Publishing booth #2643 at Comic-Con to get back on the straight and bloody path. Steve Niles will be in attendance and signing at the IDW booth every day.
