Its a tie between Spider-man and Batman.

As far as super hero teams are concerned The X-men have the best villains as a group.

Although I’m not a big fan of either one of them - I’m going to agree… especially Spider-Man. Maybe it’s from my old cartoon days, who knows.

Most superheroes only have an arch-nemesis or two. Hal Jordan has Sinestro, Aquaman has Black Manta, Wonder Woman has Cheetah and Giganta. If by “greatest villains” you mean the best rogues gallery and we are sticking with individuals then I say:

  1. Batman
  2. Spider-Man
  3. The Flash
  4. Superman

Batman’s rogues gallery is arguably the best by in large due to Bruce Timm’s work on Batman: The Animated Series. So many characters were brought out of obscurity and given a real emotional connection to the audience to such a degree that the show became canon for the comic books.

Batman has:
The Joker - 1940. Harely Quinn was such a great character in Batman: The Animated Series that DC transitioned her to the comics as well

The Penguin - 1941

The Riddler - 1948

Harvey Dent, a.k.a. Two-Face - 1942

Mr. Freeze - first seen in 1959, but really given relevance and haunting persona in Batman: The Animated Series. Then promptly ruined in the 1997 “Batman and Robin” film.

Clayface - was another character first seen in 1961, then faded into obscurity, then revitalized by B:tAS.

Scarecrow- was introduced in 1941, but never really worked out due to the limitations of news print. It?s hard to show hallucinations, phobias and the like in newsprint, but put him in an animated show and he really shines.

Poison Ivy (1966) and Catwoman (1940 sorta) round out the femme fatal roles

Man-Bat - 1970

Ra’s al Ghul and Talia (1971) play out the mirror darkly roles. Both are incredibly smart with access to money and equipment possibly even greater than Bruce Wayne’s.

The animated series paralleled the comic book for the “The Demon’s Quest” episode. Something Bruce Timm would do again and again in the following Superman and Justice League series.

Spider-Man’s Rogues Gallery.

The Green Goblin. Probably the most influential and most well known of the bunch.

Wilson Fisk, a.k.a. the Kingpin. The mafioso’s mafioso.

Venom. Famous for bringing us the black suited Spider-Man, and for giving us the dark mirror evil, violent polar opposite to Spidey.

The Chameleon, an international spy and master of disguise.

The Vulture, a.k.a. Adrian Toomes. An old man and eccentric genius/inventor who can fly with the help of his own little creation.

Otto Octavius, a.k.a. Doctor Octopus. Another genius/inventor.

Dr. Curt Connors, a.k.a. the Lizard. Yet another genius, but in genetics this time.

Electro. A regular joe who gets into one of Marvel’s many industrial accidents, gains new found powers, and turns to a life of crime.

Mysterio. No powers, relies on tricks and illusion.

Kraven the Hunter. My personal favorite.

Electro. A regular joe who gets into one of Marvel’s many industrial accidents, gains new found powers, and turns to a life of crime.

Sandman, not a genius just a thug with powers.

Scorpion. Yet another thug with powers created by Peter’s employer J.J. Jameson.

The Rhino. A super-strong, nearly invulnerable thug.

Shocker. Another thug. Not much to him, but he keeps showing up and seems to a crowd favorite.

Batman has the Rogue’s Gallery, but the Flash has the funkiest.

How can you hate a bunch of guys who hang out at the same bar, use the same tailor, and would have competitions about who could devise the best deathtrap for the Flash.

Captain Cold, cold-gun gave him complete mastery over snow and ice.

Mirror Master, a fiendish use of mirrors kept him one step ahead of the law.

Captain Boomerang, an Australian boomerang expert who goes from toy-company publicity shill to bank robber.

Weather Wizard, a burglar who utilizes scientific research to create a wand that allows him to control meteorological conditions.

The Trickster, a former circus aerialist whose invention of ?air shoes? allows him to walk through the air.

Gorilla Grodd, a refugee from a colony of super-intelligent gorillas hidden from the world by telepathy. Sought world domination, and used powers of telepathy, telekinesis and hypnotism to that end.

Eobard Thawne, the Reverse Flash, a.k.a. ?Professor Zoom.? Originally from the 30th century or so, he would use historical knowledge to torment Barry Allen, appearing at the happiest moments of his life and trying to snatch that happiness away.

Wasn’t the Trickster on schizo meds?

I think everyone had to be on medication (prescribed, recreational or otherwise) to be in The Flash comic books.

He looks like a stewardess.

I’m still perplexed by all the DC villains who invented insanely awesome stuff and, instead of patenting and selling them, turned to shitty evil.

Lex Luthor pointed this out to Prometheus, who said he “did it all for the mayhem” or somesuch.

Fuck having Green Arrow use his arrow-with-an-arrowhead-attached on my ass, money is the greatest super power. I can be evil with just me and an island of Power Girl, Giganta, Catwoman, and Wonder Woman clones.

After watching Wonder Woman, I am not sure I would even need Giganta or Catwoman.

Power(titty)girl would be a nice addition though.

Finally saw Watchmen. I actually preferred the new ending to the one in the book. The movie as a whole was fantastic, I never got bored once. The guy who played Rorsarch was fucking amazing. The only casting I didn’t like was Ozymandius - He was a bit too much of a fruitbar for my taste. All in all I think it edges out TDK as my favorite comic book movie adaption.

In other news - I read a spoiler about the new Wolverine movie and saw an action figure - Needless to say Deadpool fans are going to be pissed.

I absolutely loved the guy who played the Comedian. I think he’d make a fantastic Batman, especially if they made a film version of The Dark Knight Returns.

It was the 60’s. You could wear you’re girlfriend’s work attire and still be macho enough to commit a city wide crime spree.

Ryan Reynolds interviewed about Deadpool, but fuck if I can figure out anything he’s saying. It’s some kind of Hollywoodese, where the usual rules of English don’t apply.

I would be happy with just Supergirl and Supergirl and Supergirl and Supergirl and Supergirl and…

A Marvel MMO on the way?

So this is Marvel MMO round two? Cryptic had been developing an MMO for a Marvel/Microsoft partnership that fell thru. Champions Online came out of the ashes of that deal.

I hope they follow thru with this one and put alot into it. DC Univrese online has been under development for a while now and is looking pretty snazzy. With Champions online nearing launch Marvel is going to have some competition and they are the last ones showing up to the party.

So…I haven’t had time to get a copy of Resident Evil 5 just yet. Anyone got it? Care to share a review?
