Man, that’s insulting to my culture.
Damn he looks jacked…NOT.
I think Deadpool was the best part of Hulk Vs. Wolverine…

I think it’s insulting to everyone’s culture.
While I do think thor is a lot more interesting than wolverine like a few of you pointed out… the whole thor vs hulk movie was a snore fest… see hulk get teleported somewhere inconvient to cause trouble, see him smash, see thor get smashed, see thor get saved, see thor talk hulk out of ruining the planet… run credits…
The ending to the hulk v wolverine was a lot better but I would have loved for them to pull a world war hulk and rip wolverine in half and throw the pieces to different places…
and yes, deadpool I think is what made the hulk v wolverine for me… his lines were great…

[Spoilers below - but I’m doing you a favor]
I saw them both yesterday, and I didn’t like them much. I’m not sure which one bored me the most, but I’ll point out a few of the things that annoyed me:
First, Hulk vs. Wolverine is ridiculous from the start. Wolvie is not in the Hulk’s league by a wide margin. But because Wolverine is popular, the fight gets fudged so that he can do a little damage to the Hulk and doesn’t get thrown into outer space or something.
Things that are even more annoying: The Hulk’s skin. It can stop bullets, but not tranquilizer darts? Weapon X mention that they’d been trying to bring down the Hulk for a month or so… why didn’t they just use the darts before? Whatever diversion Wolvie was making, could’ve been done similarly by Sabertooth.
Wolvie can cut the Hulk’s skin with his blades (ok, I’ll buy that), but apparently not bone. So no taking off limbs or even fingers from the Hulk. I for one would have enjoyed seeing the Hulk smash using only elbow stumps.
Annoyance #2: No one feels pain and everyone heals fast. Both Deathstrike and Deadpool have limbs removed during battles and both of them simple re-attach them as if getting delimbed was a regular occurrence. WTF? Deadpool has a little trouble aligning a slice of his arm correctly, but that seems to be the extent of the trouble losing his right arm causes him.
In the “vs. Thor” one, I learn that Asgard apparently has a law requiring everyone to wear stupidly large helmets with even stupider horn designs. Doors are oversized everywhere and Pegasus is borrowed from the Greek mythology because - I guess - it would be cool to see Hulk smash a flying horse.
Thor gets pounded even worse than Wolverine, but thanks to a magic spell, he’s knocking on Loki’s door a few minutes later. Pain? Injuries? Bah, humbug!
Having Hulk try to lift Mjolnir from the ground was mildly interesting, if only to see which “absolute” Marvel was going to pick as the winner. Stupid Thor had to retrieve the hammer before we find out the answer.
Then there’s the stupid Perestroika doll plot: Take Banner out of Hulk and then Hela takes banner’s soul out of his body? Is that really the best plot someone could come up with? I know comics require a good amount of “suspension of disbelief,” but there’s a difference with “blind acceptance of extreme stupidity.”
Anyway, I also watched the “Watchmen: Motion Comic” in 12 episodes (I had never read Watchmen before… heard a lot about it, but never got around to it) and that I liked. If you haven’t read the comics, check it out. It’s about 20 minutes per episodes, so it comes out at around 4 hours total. But somehow, it felt shorter than the “Hulk vs.” crap.

Spoiler battle:
I justified the tranq darts because Wolverine had sliced him 12 times in the chest and the traps which seemed to slow him down “weaken” him for a second. They also used a shit load of darts. They used less than half as many on Wolverine to bring him down so I am assuming those were some damned massive tranqs.
Limb removal. OK, I can see where you are coming from. I too would have liked to see not only more blood, but longer recovery and overall more damage being done to people. Hulk did do some serious damage to Deathstrike though.
I don’t know, maybe I just didn’t judge them that harshly.
Thor made me fall asleep.

Yeah, but with the Hulk, that usually makes him angrier, not slower. It’s part of what I’m referring too when I say they’re fudging the battles. Basically, whatever they want to or need to happen, happens.
Fantasy universes are cooler, IMO, when they respect their own fantasy rules.
Why do bullets bounce off and not the darts? Are they adamantium tipped? If so, why not just use adamantium bullets? On those TV shows where they shoot animals with tranq darts, they often have to shoot in “tender” spots to make sure the darts go in… In the real world, bullets penetrate much better than darts do.
Yeah, but Deathstrike also heals fast, can reattach her limbs and has an adamantium skeleton… she’s basically a copy of Wolverine. So is Sabertooth; and Deadpool doesn’t have claws, but he also heals fast and can reattach his missing parts. Hulks heals just as fast as the best’of em. It’s like the whole show is a bunch of Rock’em Sock’em robots fighting each other.
Fast healing also seems to entail instant anesthetic, as none of them seem to feel any pain when getting stabbed, cut, punch or delimbed. Deadpool is making jokes while his arm is bouncing away.
I find it hard to get into the story and the fights when there’s no consequences to any of the damage done to anyone by anyone else; and where key figures will get knocked out whenever convenient for the plot.
If Marvel and DC want to market to adults, they have to treat their viewers/readers as adults. I can allow a lot of leeway for a superhero comic, but at some point, it stops being fantasy and becomes free-form bullshit.
I think a little harsher judgment would force them to produce better comics in the long run. Characters are much more interesting when they have flaws, limits, weak points and problems. A Hulk that’s not limitlessly strong can probably be more interesting than one who can split the Earth in two; Wolverine would be cooler even if he had to take a few hours (or even minutes) to heal…
Thor could be much better if only they’d match him up with someone who can be beaten (because, let’s face it, Hulk vs. anyone short of Galactus is a foregone conclusion) and has motivations more profound than “Hulk smash!” Thor with no story is just an annoying blowhard with weird speech mannerisms and a stupid costume. (I mean, really, what’s with those 4 aluminum plates on the torso?)
Superhero cartoons can be made interesting for adults. “Batman: Gotham Knight” or the old “Animatrix” cartoon for “The Matrix” and the aforementioned “Watchmen - The Motion Comic” are quite good. I wouldn’t call any of them “excellent”, but they at least kept me interested. I even had a Riddick cartoon (I forget the title) that occurs between the two movies that was pretty good. But all those cartoons play within the rules of their universes and characters; they don’t bend them every two minutes because they couldn’t figure out a better plot. It might not be a coincidence that Batman, Riddick and most of the Watchmen have no “real” superpowers…
750 MB/s in the future? 2 TB on an SD-sized card? How the fuck is that possible?
So is anyone else looking forward to the new Ghostbusters game? I know I am, from what I hear it has all the original cast members(except for Rick Moranis from “Honey I Shrunk the Kids” b/c apparently he made so much money off those movies he doesnt do any thing any more). Also I guess that that had so much fun making it that Dan Aykroyd and Bill Murray have said that they are working on Ghostbusters 3.
The Cast
Bill Murray … Dr. Peter Venkman (voice)
Dan Aykroyd … Dr. Raymond Stantz (voice)
Harold Ramis … Dr. Egon Spengler (voice)
Ernie Hudson … Winston Zeddemore (voice)
Annie Potts … Janine Melnitz (voice)
William Atherton … Walter Peck (voice)
Brian Doyle-Murray … Mayor Jock Mulligan (voice)
Slavitza Jovan … Gozer (voice)

How is it possible to get the Venus de Milo out of a block of marble?
The technology of metallurgy began about 3500 B.C. with the Bronze Age. Our current understanding of metallurgy is about the equivalent of the caveman’s understanding of fire, and look how much we’ve accomplished. What do you think the potential is of a technology that’s only been around since, what 1958?
Just wait until we figure out how to do this shit with light or bacteria.

I know, I keep reading about storage technology and it never ceases to amaze me.
I am guessing we will somehow combine SSD tech with organic flash memory (research done at UCLA, I believe) and come up with something stupid fast, far faster than any bus will be able to support for years.
Just look at GPUs. Moore’s Law wets itself in that realm.
Here I am just drooling at the day I can upgrade my still damn nice laptop to one with USB 3.0 and an IPS panel. Make it quad core and 8 GB RAM so I can VMWare multiple OSes.
Better yet, I want a wired network connection that supports over 10 Gbps so I can stream 1080P video with 7.1 audio AND backup shit to a NAS. I found an article on converting a Mac Mini to a DVR with a MythTV back end, an Apple Front Row front end…tossing out the internal optical drive in favor of a second 500 GB drive. RAID 0 that shit and have a 2 TB attached storage for encoded h.264 streams…with an iPod touch to control it all, wirelessly.
Fuck propriety!

Prince of Persia = Overhyped
This has to be the most repetitive game I’ve played since Super Mario Brothers. Every level is the same as the previous one. While the graphics are decent, the dialog is irritating. It is basically some huge quest filled with monotonous chores all so you can screw some magical chick who can float. There aren’t even any puzzles on the 4 levels I beat before I put it down.[/quote]
x2
I felt like I was doing work while playing the game. It wasn’t even remotely fun. It felt like one big QTE without the onscreen prompts.
Also, for a game that seems like it’s encouraging exploration, you’re extremely limited to where you can go despite your supposed acrobatic skills. It’s a shame though because it sure is pretty.
I found Assassin’s Creed to be pretty similar in terms of being repetitive and getting boring fast.
One game I’d highly recommend is Dead Space. It was easily my GOTY last year. That game had polish coming out the ass.

I’m looking forward to this. It’d be pretty hard to fuck this one up… They’ve been spending quite a bit of time on the game, so I’m getting a good feeling about it.

That thought of that makes me drool. Have you got a link?
I’m still planning what my home entertainment system will be like, but goddamn, technology is moving so fast I’m often not sure where to start.
Lots of movie news today.
Have they found their Thor?
Aonther Pirates movie?
FF4 to follow Iron Man?
The Thor guy looks like, if he has some more muscle, he could pull it off.
I liked the Pirates movies.
And if you “darken” the Fantastic Four, you get one of two things: The Four from Planetary, or Marvel Zombies.

Fantastic Four blows. Just a personal opinion.

I was thinking the same thing. He seems to have the right ‘look’, but just needs the muscle to pull it off. I haven’t watched True Blood, so I really don’t know anything else about the guy.
