Geek S**T Generation 2.0

A trailer for FFXIII along with some gameplay footage wrapped inside of it. The gameplay looks pretty sweet…2010!

Just finished watching this in it’s entirety. BADASS!

I was just thinking how sweet it would be if Fallout 3 was made as a pure FPS game.

Meh,We have and get enough FPS that making Fallout 3 into one would more than likely have taken it from a great game (maybe the best game of last year) to just another so so shooter, and we have more then enough of those.[/quote]

They should just make a shooter in the fallout universe…
I kind of understand what bujo means, imo Fallout as an RPG worked somewhat better in 2d/when you don’t see stuff in first person.

It feels like a shooter but doesn’t play like one at all… Trying to mow the enclave guys down with the laser gatling (which takes forever) is a bit annoying… I didn’t get the chance to play a lvl 20 char yet, though and haven’t seen all weapons… Are the gauss guns in there etc?

I’ve only ever seen laser gatling, plasmarifle and nuke launcher when it comes to the bigger guns, and laser-weapons were useless in fallout 1/2 against power-armor unless you could get a critical in (and cut them in half, bwhahaha).

Do you get the old ultimate perks (slayer and the other one which allowed you to do a critical almost every time you used a ranged weapon) in FA3?

Exactly. I do like Fallout 3 as is. It does a great job as an rpg and I love exploring the wasteland. My little vault dweller just hit level 11 and I just finished the first main quest GNR. V.A.T.S. is pretty sweet and great for the smaller firearms and the fat man, but not so great for the minigun or flamer.

My only complaint is Fallout 3 suffers from a weak FPS aspect. For example I was sitting on a high perch with a troll treading water and fighting raiders below me. With the sniper rifle I had that troll in my cross hairs, picture perfect, and when I pulled the trigger, no damage. WTF?!?! I don’t miss, not like that.

Anyways, it got me to thinking about how fun it would be to play Half-Life 2 on an open world with random incidents. If Far Cry 2 (and hopefully the upcoming Borderlands) does just that then sweet, I will check it out.

Yeah buddy! That show is great. Afro Samurai the video game was just released, and Afro Samurai:Resurrection should be out on DVD in February.

Not related to this… But do you (or anyone else here) have any anime recommendations for me… Just watched Samurai X (the kenshin movies), and I’m kind of in the mood for something mature/brutal…

Issue is, I’ve probably seen most of the uber-violence/gore stuff.
Doesn’t have to be that extreme… But just something serious/dark or whatever…

We gotta compile some “official” “geek-shit anime list” some day lol

Oh yeah, do all the exploring and side-quests in FA3 if you want that game to last a while… Once the main quest is done, it’s over and you have to pretty much get back to your last savegame if you want to do anything else…

Video review for Afro Samurai (the game):

Hmm…well,if you liked Samurai X…and Ninja Scroll…you should check out Basilisk. And I’m currently watching Black Lagoon Seasons 1 and 2…and have Claymore on deck. Check em out.

Another one here: http://xbox360.ign.com/dor/objects/944273/afro-samurai/videos/afro_samurai_review_012709.html

I’m a bit disappointed. Most of the mentionned flaws (camera, joystick inversion, repetitive cutscenes) can probably be adressed in a patch; but it looks like random button-mashing will get you through it. No skill required = no replay value.

I’ll give basilisk a try.

Already finished Black Lagoon (damnit, why didn’t they continue the show?) and have seen several Claymore Episodes.

I kinda miss Black Lagoon

Thanks for the suggestions.

And it only took a decade!

But seriously, if it’s good, it’s good news to hear the PS3 actually got an FPS right… lemme know how it shapes up.

Still taking suggestions?

Le Chevalier D’Eon - The story begins in Paris 1742, when the body of a woman named Lia de Beaumont is found in a casket floating along the Seine. The only clue regarding her death is the word “Psalms”, which is written in blood on the lid of the casket. It also has gargoyles, witchcraft, and European sword duels.

Samurai 7 - Its “Seven Samurai” animated, and set in a future with flying castles, and they kill big ass robots with swords
