Hollywood will take a giant shit on all our childhood dreams, and the series that we hold close to our heart. Look what they did to Indiana Jones…RAPE!!
Look at what they did to Star Wars, Vader no longer holds that Badass esteem that he used to have. All I see now is a naive mama’s boy.
Dragonball, Avatar, and now Fucking Cowboy Bebop. Let me tell you guys something, at the end of that series when…
SPOILER ALERT!!!
Spike dies, I actually felt that in the pit of my stomach. I kept saying “I…I cant believe they killed Spike” His character was nonchalant but always came through for his comrads. Plus there is so much content in Bebop that they can make at least 5 movies. I mean the cast of characters and the stories are PERECT.
Hollywood now persists to tell me that Keanu fucking Reeves can capture Spikes coolness?? Fuuuuck You! I call bullshit, whos gonna play Faye, Miley Cyrus? Jet will be played by Nick Nolte or someone equally as idiotic. Lord have mercy on them if they fuck up casting Vicious! The saddest part about it is, because these are treasured shows from our past we almost have no choice but to support it. Except Dragonball they took a shit all over that and I refuse to go see it.
Why does the powers that be, in hollywood have such little faith in the fans? I just don’t understand it.
Also as a side note, if Brett Ratner touches anymore of my comic book franchises I am going ape shit.
I hear you Pootie. Even after watching the series as many times as I have that last episode is still like getting kicked in the gut.
It seems like every time I hear of a new comic book or anime adaptation the more I prefer the original medium. There just aren’t any actors that can make Superman super on the silver screen. Not to mention Hollywood insists on staying 20 years behind whatever comics and animation may have done for a character. Prime example, Superman Returns vs. Superman the animated series/Justice League/JLU/the comic books. Or they decide to use the name and throw everything else by the wayside like Catwoman and Electra.
Now we get the human 2x4 as Spike, an American bike gang in New York for Akira and Cobra Commander is that whiny kid from that show “3rd Rock From The Sun”. Plus Michael Bay keeps insisting on making Transformers look organic.
I think I’m just going to stop going to the movies.

I’m sorry, I agree with the Superman movie comments (that ass Singer turned him into a emo-stalker), but are you really badmouthing Transformers? Sure, Bay broke cannon, but he made The Transformers accessible to the masses, and I don’t have problem with that at all. I think Transformers was awesome, and I don’t think I’m the only person that feels this way.
I fully expect Transformers II to kick ass this summer.
And with regard to ‘that whiny kid from 3rd Rock from the Sun’, Joseph Gordon-Levitt has done a great job of establishing himself as a good, up-and-coming-actor. Watch some of the movis he’s been in lately…
My main issue with Transformers was the design of the transformers themselves. There were so many moving parts that it seriously affected the fight scenes - I just couldn’t see what was going on.
I can see that Michael Bay was going for a more ‘alien’ design, but there was really no need for all those cogs and gears.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt really is a first class actor. His performances in Brick and Mysterious Skin are outstanding.

I thought it was great when I saw it at the theater but trying to rewatch it on HBO, I find it lacking. I have the same problem with Superman, liked it at the theater don’t like it at home. My biggest two complaints are:
way too many people and way too few robots
transformations are too convoluted, I think the cleaner lines from the gen 1 series would have been better.
I will end up seeing Transformers II, just to see what the have planned for the Fallen. In the comics he was almost akin to a demigod or demon or devil. It should be interesting, though I have my doubts that Bay will do anything as cool as a giant flaming tank.
So… Joseph Gordon-Levitt was head trauma guy in The Lookout. I guess he has fleshed out a bit as an actor.
I’m going to step out of the shadows for a moment to profess my utter disdain for that fucking Transformers movie. No, no, that fucking Michael Bay movie. It kind of felt like I was hopelessly subjected to a snuff film that I couldn’t opt out of… watching a beloved franchise get slowly twisted into something that was hardly recognizable.
I can’t believe it only took one man, one scene to totally crush the image of one of my childhood superheroes. We have the most advanced, technological, and greatest technology we’ve ever experienced, and the movie resorts to slapstick comedy. Fucking SLAPSTICK. All of a sudden these giant robots can’t stand up because they’re what, slipping on lawn gnomes or some shit? Fucking horrible.
I’m really not sure if I’ve ever been so infuriated when I left a movie theatre in my life… besides maybe Kung Pow. Not only that, but if you pay attention to characters, sequence of events, and just how shit generally shakes down, you’ll see the movie is just a big-ass ripoff of Independence Day. Trust me, go back through and watch it again, thinking of I.D… you’ll be surprised.
It was good. . . for what it was. Transformers was watered down to appeal, it seemed, it kids who had never experienced Transformers G1, the original or newest comics, and . . . that’s it.
I liked the Decepticon transforming SFX at the beginning, but I never heard it again.
sigh
I hope the 2nd is much, much better, less super-close, confusing shots, bit more mature, no slapstick, etc.

From everything I’ve heard, we’re going to get our wish on that one. I don’t remember where I read it or I’d post the link, but Bay confirmed that there will be at least 20 different transformers in the sequel.

Devastator is in the 2nd movie, that’s it, I was sold from that moment on(call me a sucker for the franchise).

Superion is in it as well, so Michael Bay must be cooking up a monumental robotic smackdown. Between Devastator and Superion, that accounts for eleven robots so far.
The most interesting rumor I’ve heard yet is that there will be a Pretender (likely a Decepticon) masquerading as a human character.

No Dinobots though: not even Grimlock :([/quote]
I didn’t know the Superion thing got confirmed as anything other than a rumor(I read a story about how people think the toy is just an intelligent Hasbro marketing tool taking advantage of the hype of the movie(s)), but if he’s in it too that would be fucking fantastic, especially if they give the individual robots some face time; love me some aerial bots and constructicons.
There’s so many other robots we’d all love to see for sure(like the dinobots) but you can only fit so much into a movie without making it just a ridiculous clutter, we can only hope that fan base turnout keeps the franchise rolling in modern times to allow them to explore tons more storylines.

Yeah, it would make sense that the Autobots would have their own combiner. I can’t see how they are going to be able to take out Devastator any other way. Plus, a Devastator vs. Superion confrontation would be far cooler than Devastator vs. regular Autobots (not much of a challenge, really).

Absolutely! I just hope that they concentrate more on the actual Transformers and less on the human characters this time around. Some Cybertron action wouldn’t go amiss, either.
Here is a list of the Top 100 cartoons. While I dont agree with the order what so ever(assuming that #1 is the best all time and 100 being the least of the list) there are a lot of really good shows on here and only say 5 or so that I havent seen.
But one thing I dont get is all the crap that is on Adult Swim now is on the list. Aside from 2 or 3 shows Adult swim sucks ass!
