Awesome montage. Loved the end with Brucy. Thanks for the laugh.

I’ve never realised how much we take '‘noooooooooo’ for granted. Lol.

Yet, still no word on Deadpool.

Ah. Your post made it sound like they were yet to make one. I’m looking forward to Michael Bay’s take on The Scarlet Pimperel: a heroic shape-shifting alien fights a clandestine war against reptilian overlords who are trying to conquer the planet starting with France. [/quote]

Way to go.

Now that is out there. I am Bay has a computer set up to catch such ideas.

In fairness I would watch that movie as long as it was only “based”/“inspired” on the source material, and called something else. The difference between watching “Sons of Anarchy” vs it being called “Hamlet” seems to strike me as important.

The title would need to be something suitably ostentatious but with a clear doff of the cap to the source. Got it …The Scarred Pimp from Hell.

Oh this is just bad it’s like they aren’t even trying anymore

I paid money to see Dances with Smurfs in Fern Gully in Space, a.k.a. Avatar. I even saw Alone in the Dark in a theater, dragged a date plus two friends to that one.

I would watch The Scarred Pimp from Hell. I am part of the problem.

Ok, the fuck you to the hearing impaired that was the closed captioning on that video was great.

I am a little put off that the “beast” is better looking than me. I mean, wasn’t he supposed to be ugly. Even Disney got that right. In this it is a good looking doctor with a scar. Shit.

So it is official, Ryan Reynolds is going to be playing the role of Connor MacLeod in the Highlander remake. Personally, I think this is a huge mistake. Reynolds is a good enough actor in his own right, but I do not think he can pull off being the Highlander. Such a pity, because I really think that the Highlander series is one of the few that could actually benefit from a reboot.

It was a great and mostly original idea, but the movie sequels were all over the place with continuity and the last movie, the Source, was dumber then the second, which even the writers just pretend never happened, but the TV show was just pure awesome.

So now we’ve got the guy playing Deadpool, Green Lantern and Highlander…
Does Hollywood not have any actors? Are they low on supply?
What possibly goes on in the decision making process?

Yeah, someone who lives for 500 years and spends most of that time fighting and watching all his loved ones grow old and die is going to become introverted and solemn and brooding, none of which Ryan Reynolds is good at doing. Even in his “serious” movies he is more lighthearted and comical. Not at all what is needed for the Highlander.

He has the pretty boy looks and the build that is the norm for hollywood and thus what women want to see these days. Movies are no longer primarily about a good story and choosing actors suited to the role, they are about pretty people wearing revealing or very little clothing doing something, anything, with a bunch of flashy special effects to keep people amused.

Unless they come up with a spectacular idea for a franchise, Highlander was built to be a self-contained movie. They tacked the sequels on to squeeze the life out of a story that was never supposed to have sequels.

The very best casting suggestion I’ve read for Connor Macleod is Thomas Jane. I won’t take the cred for that, but Jane is similar enough to Lambert in looks and demeanor that it wouldn’t alienate fans of the original in the way Reynolds would.

I think RR is a good actor, but he can also be a goof and his movies are often a gamble on which persona you’ll get.

Gaurdians of the Galaxy official this movie will tie into Thanos and the Avengers

I agree on both points. Thomas Jane would have been a much better choice and Reynolds is really not a bad actor (Buried for example) but there is a certain undertone needed to make Highlander work and I don’t think that’s going to happen here. The first Highlander did have some comical moments though (Connery training the Highlander) but it wasn’t forced. Love that movie.

I fear this is going to be similar to Conan. Pretty boy barbarian and bad acting. However, the first 20 minutes were great and the kid that played young Conan…he did a fantastic job.

I agree with your assessment but is Reynolds the only one fitting this bill? There aren’t other pretty boys to choose from? Similar mistake to having Chris Evans play Torch and Captain America. Distracting for the real fans, I think.

I give them a pass on Chris Evans because he has managed to embrace that character. He was the only Fantastic Four member done completely right in the movie also. In cases like that, i think they just went with who filled the role best.

Reynolds tends to irritate me. I just don’t see all of the “talent” everyone else see…but I didn’t see Buried yet.

I agree that Chris Evans did a great job as Torch, even though I was disappointed with the movies as a whole. I haven’t seen Captain America or The Avengers yet so I can’t say how well he did in that role, but I don’t think that anyone could have done a much better job as Torch.

I think that Reynolds is a decent actor, although if you have seen one of his comedies you have seen them all, but in movies like Definitely, Maybe he did an awesome job and showed he is able to play characters that are not just immature frat boys or smartass sidekicks in action movies, he is just not serious and intense enough to be a 500 year old warrior like what Connor MacLeod should be portrayed as.
