I grew up with the original MK movie. I’ve always considered it a bad movie that I just loved. My friends all feel the same way, just freaking love it.

Looks like they’re taking it in a totally new direction and doing a damn good job with it. Although it wouldn’t exactly be hard to improve on MK: Annihilation.

EDIT: I didn’t realise im_new_feed_me had created a thread about this already. Still, it belongs in here so I won’t move it(unless the mods decide to do so).

I would PM Nards, he’s the guy with the Rowdy Roddy Piper avatar, I believe he’s a trekie.

That’s right!

How did you knwo by the way? I usually try to keep that shit covered up.
I remembered you mentioning that you go on Trek message boards some time ago. I was going to tell the guy to check out The Wrath of Khan first but then I thought everything else would be a let down after that lol. The last prequel movie was excellent too. I’m not a trekie but I do have a black and white life size door poster of Spock holding a phaser that I’ve had since
high school that looks awesome imo, not sure if it’s a collectible or not, maybe it’s commen, I have no idea.
This one?

Mortal Kombat was a “hit” world wide even though it was just a weak B-movie. I doubt a movie like that would do the same today seeing as similar movies like DOA barely made a blip on the radar even though they had the same feel to them.

For the record, DOA is one of those movies too that you may like to watch but won’t admit it to everyone.

I think of Torque the same way seeing as most threw tomatoes at that movie for being “popcorn” but I’ve watched it hundreds of times because of the bikes.

I am sure this movie will do way better than expected just because of the “cult” following of the first one.

Nope, it’s kind of a close up one in black and white, my sister bought it in 75’or so then gave it to me

Just saw this on Wikipedia:

‘‘In 2010, director Kevin Tancharoen released an eight-minute Mortal Kombat film, choreographed by Larnell Stovall, showcasing Michael Jai White as Jax, Jeri Ryan as Sonya Blade, Matt Mullins as Johnny Cage, Ian Anthony Dale as Scorpion and Lateef Crowder as Baraka. Ryan said later that that the short was made as a proof of concept for Tancharoen’s pitch of a reboot movie franchise to Warner Brothers.’’

I think so too.

I only hope they stick with the actors and ‘feel’ of this clip - especailly MJ White. It looks so bad ass.

I agree, helps when they actually develop the characters.

All this talk about that viral MK short… The next MK game, they are finally taking it back to its roots, 2D fighting. Can’t fuckn wait.

Looks like they’re going back to having real fucking fatalities too, I was so let down by the pg-13 esque MKvDC finishers.

I’m pumped for the E3 announcements.

Yeah, Microsoft has some cool things to announce, according to them.

It’s not for the PS4. It’s probably just to advertise the 3D capability of the PS3.

I think they would be about 3-4 years too early on that anyway. Why present a new prototype when they barely have the previous model in enough homes to even replace the PS2 completely?

Sony are aiming for a ten-year lifecycle for the PS3. While I’m sure there is R&D going on for the PS4, Sony wouldn’t release some shitty viral videos for a console that far off.

I don’t buy it. I’m a 360 fanboy first and foremost, but I don’t see MS having any decent announcements this E3. They’re going to show footage of games we already know about and probably way more Natal garbage than they should.

I’d be interested in some Reach SP footage though.

On the PC side of things, I wouldn’t mind seeing some more Diablo 3…even though Activision is ruining Blizzard.

10 year life cycle doesn’t mean the newer console won’t cross-over. It wasn’t 10 years between the PS - PS2 or PS2 - PS3.

Anyway, I didn’t think they would be releasing one this early on either, but rumours are rumours.

They weren’t aiming for a 10-year life cycle with either the PS or the PS2.

Yup, and some are wholly inaccurate and not even remotely substantiated.

With the recent addition of 3D capability and Move on the horizon, there is absolutely NO way the PS4 is even a prototype yet.
