I haven’t played with the Desire yet, but going by the reviews and what people say about it, right now that would be my choice.

Only if it comes to Canada…

Question:

In-ear earphones, what brands/models have any of you had most success with? I’ve used Shure E2C’s twice before, and they are probably the best I’ve used as far as comfort, sound and the god-damn things not falling out your ears when you turn your head. Only problem is that since they swing over the top of your ear, they don’t last more than a year before the cables frey and tear.

I have a set of Bose earphones at the moment (which I got for less than half the retail price) and they are horrible. I would never have paid full price for them anyway, but the sound is just OK, I’ve lost all the end pieces due to the poor design and they keep falling out of my ears.

Any suggestions for something around $60-$150?[/quote]

Check out a company called SoundMagic. I think they are Korean. It looks like they are/were an original manufacturer of more expensive, well-known brands, and decided to just produce the same quality stuff but under their own name - for cheap. They are getting amazing reviews for three of their products:

PL11 - http://stuff.tv/Review/Soundmagic-PL11/
PL30 - http://head-direct.amazonwebstore.com/Soundmagic-PL30-InEar-Headphones/M/B001MQ3CCO.htm
PL50 - http://head-direct.amazonwebstore.com/PL50-Inear-Headphones/M/B002K7FZBA.htm

Try to order them from FocalPrice.

If the cable over ear thing is an issue, check out the PL50, which have a nice ear “collar.” The PL30 is really low resistance (12 ohm), so they don’t need to be driven by an amp to sound nice. The PL50 is 55 ohm, so they might need an amp. If that’s the case, look for a Chu Moy (“CMoy”) amp made from an Altoid or Penguin Mints tin (on eBay). They shouldn’t cost more than $20-25.

These are my next ear phones since my Etymotic ER-6i are dying.

The Desire is the best Android phone for GSM networks outside the US. Spec-wise, the HTC Evo 4G is the best Android phone on the market but it’s US-only. If you’re outside the US (Europe, namely), get the Desire.

At my office there’s a conference room that holds monthly developer meetings for Android and iPhone (separate events). The Android events have at least double the attendance on average. Android is blowing up and many developers are fed up with Apple’s restrictions and tight grip on distribution channels.

I love Apple’s silly, 1-dimensional metrics:

“We’ve had 10 billion app store downloads!”

Question:

How many of those apps were used after 30 days? If people “test out” an app by downloading it, then delete it the same day, does that download still count? If it does count, isn’t that a worthless data point? (because it says nothing about the apps value to the user)

That’s like saying you make $300/hr ($600k/yr at full time) but neglecting to mention that you only work 4 hours a month ($1200/mo).

I don’t usually get excited about statue although if I had the extra money I would probably pick up a few of the Bowen designs, but when I saw this I knew I had to have it. Taken from the Giant Size comic it’s Supes Ali

I would open her ass like the Eye of Thundera.

So pretty much Splinter Cell Conviction is badass…

Possible next gen iphone leaked…

I saw that earlier today, here is a review: This Is Apple's Next iPhone

What I want to say is, and I could be wrong, I think this is Apple’s marketing team hard at work here.

I know the phone OS was wiped remotely but the chances of someone ‘losing’ a prototype that Apple didn’t automatically get C&D’d is highly unlikely IMO.

I think it is a real prototype, but not what will be released in 2 months time. They’re trying to draw attention from the release of competing phones (IE, The HTC Incredible).

I do like it though.

Adobe has now basically told Apple to shove it with their Flash complaints. Gee, why doesn’t Flash crash on my PC - and never done in the past?

Got the HTC Incredible for Verizon. Love it so far.

Have the Body Glove case which thickens the phone but seems really protective.

Some of the apps for Android are amazing.

Might get the Seidio slim extended battery (1750 mAh vs stock 1300 mAh … same size as stock) or OEM extended battery - 2150 mAh, but thickens battery so needs a new back cover - if there’s a nice enough case that can accommodate the enlarged dimension (supposedly only adds 1 mm).

Camera is amazing. Phone is really fast.

Good stuff! I’m out of contract next month so I’ll see what’s around or upcoming at that stage. Can you get various back covers for the Incredible?

“And there was much rejoicing, in a growly, snarling voice: Warner Bros. has announced the next Batman flick arrives July 20, 2012, again directed by Christopher Nolan. (Insert girly squeals.)”

Good stuff!

Halo: Reach Beta is now available via the ODST disc for all us lowly folks who didn’t have a beta code.
