The Asus Eee Pc - netbook…
I got mine 2 weeks ago so after playing around with setting everything up thought I would write a quick review…
OVERALL: Loving it. A quick background, it has a 1.6 GHz intel atom processor, 160 gig SATA HD, 1 gig ram (can put in a second 1 gig stick for 30 bucks), 10 inch screen, 3 USB ports, 2.2 pounds… It is light and small, which makes it easy to carry anywhere your going. Runs windows and office without a problem (can run Linux if you want)… After 2 weeks I find the keyboard more then large enough to type comfortably.
Since purchasing it I have found real reason to lug around my older Dell XPS laptop as it weighs 12.5 pounds and is not much more powerful, so unless I am doing finite element simulations for research the netbook can handle it… The lighter weight and smaller size make taking it places easy so I find myself bringing it along a lot more.
PROS: ultra light, small, powerful enough to do any basic task, and will actually run WoW if you want (suprised me it could do that), is 299 for the computer, or for 320 you get the pc, case and a jump drive.
CONS: Screen is small so you will scroll a lot when viewing some web pages and makes icons kinda small. Battery life is approx 4 hours, so having a second battery or a power cord is advised for longer flights. no dvd rom so loading data from a dvd is a pain (get either a usb external, or nework with a pc that has a dvd player, or load on jump drive)… Like ipods / iphones its a shiny finish so its a finger print magnet…
Sorry its not a better review, after another month or so I’ll post some more thoughts since the newness will have worn off by then.
