Game of Thrones Season 3

As of right now, PA school aspirations have to take a back seat. I didn’t get in this round and I took a huge hit financially trying to get hours and experience and I had to go back into a non-medical field to get back on my feet. I figure I can work my day job, jump on as an EMT to continue getting hours and more importantly hours that I think will transfer well and give me some real world application NOW as opposed to just being a MA somewhere.

Additionally, after working with some PAs and hearing their complaints daily, I’m almost wondering if I would be better suited to climb the ladder elsewhere and get my fix as an EMT.

I may have taken rejection a little rough too but I’d like to think I am just re-assesing some things.
Fuck that Nate, get your PA and then come work for me.

Believe me you will never regret it

Hey guys, I haven’t been watching the show because I wanna wait until the season is done.

However, I have a question for the people who have read the books, my memory is a little rusty (Spoilers)

Aegon is is the son of Rheagar, and was born before Dany, correct? Therefore, Dany who is the aunt of Aegon, is also younger than him?

** SPOILERS **

I believe that’s true and helps explain why young Griff originally/naively planned to marry her prior to returning to Westeros.

Definitely. And I was even more surprised to find myself feeling the same re: Stannis.

But Martin has brought to life how REAL people think - every time they look at something, it brings back some memory or feeling about what happened “Before.” The characters are always lost in their own thoughts, and are no different than us - especially those of us that have had some pretty awful shit happen to them, and as a result have the ghosts of those things resurrected every time we see something that reminds us of that.

I find this most interesting with the characters of Ned Stark - who is always reliving the battles,
"They were seven, facing three. In the dream as it had been in life. Yet these were no ordinary three. They waited before the round tower, the red mountains of Dorne at their backs, their white cloaks blowing in the wind. And these were no shadows; their faces burned clear, even now. Ser Arthur Dayne, the Sword of the Morning, had a sad smile on his lips. The hilt of the greatsword Dawn poked up over his right shoulder. Ser Oswell Whent was on one knee, sharpening his blade with a whetstone. Across his white-enameled helm, the black bat of his House spread its wings. Between them stood fierce old Ser Gerold Hightower, the White Bull, Commander of the Kingsguard.

“I looked for you on the Trident,” Ned said to them.

“We were not there,” Ser Gerold answered.

"Woe to the Usurper if we had been, said Ser Oswell.

“When King’s Landing fell, Ser Jaime slew your king with a golden sword, and I wondered where you were.”

“Far away,” Ser Gerold said, “or Aerys would yet sit the Iron Throne, and our false brother would burn in seven hells.”

“I came down on Storm’s End to lift the siege,” Ned told them, “and the Lords Tyrell and Redwyne dipped their banners, and all their knights bent the knee to pledge us fealty. I was certain you would be among them.”

“Our knees do not bend easily,” said Ser Arthur Dayne.

“Ser Willem Darry is fled to Dragonstone, with your queen and Prince Viserys. I thought you might have sailed with him.”

“Ser Willem is a good man and true,” said Ser Oswell.

“But not of the Kingsguard,” Ser Gerold pointed out. “The Kingsguard does not flee.”

“Then or now,” said Ser Arthur. He donned his helm.

“We swore a vow,” explained old Ser Gerold.

Ned’s wraiths moved up beside him, with shadow swords in hand. They were seven against three…

I like those dream flashbacks, I wish they would go into a little more detail on Arthur Dayne, he seems like a badass.

Yea, him and Gerold Hightower … I like when Jamie is reading through the Kingsguard history book about Dayne, Hightower and Barristan Selmy … Jamie really idolized those guys.

Yea that part is pretty interesting. It seems like the next book will have Selmy doing some battle, I cant wait.

I just hope his old man doesn’t shine through … we hear all these allusion to him being one of the most dangerous men with a sword, but in his POV chapters he is very self-conscious about his age and how it has affected his abilities. I do think, however, he’ll be a very good field general … I really want to see him fuck some Yunkish up!

The fuck did I just watch…

Finally Catelynn shows something other than a stone face.

So I have read the source material obviously. My girl has not. I was ready for last night, and just loved watching her reaction.

I haven’t read the source material, but I knew something was up seriously. Before all that went down my friend and I had a conversation something like this:

me: “Dude I’m really nervous right now. I’m extremely uneasy. They’ve been going on for like 15 minutes with only good things. They never do that. Something bad is always happening. If they’re going this long with all this happy crap, I keep feeling like they’re about to do something insanely terrible”

him: “Yeah, good things don’t happen in this show. I’m waiting for something bad to happen”

badness takes place

me: “Wow, fuck me” storms off

him: “What the fuck, why do I even watch this show”

I still remember reading the first book, waiting for someone to save Ned at the last second. It was like 2 in the morning and I was in Mexico on a dive trip. Through the book on the floor. Not a wink of sleep was had that night.

Yes that episode delivered, doing justice to the book. I think I hate Roose Bolton on the TV even more than in print.

I’m about 2/3 through book 4 now and it’s actually a good read once you get used to the change of pace from book 3. I’d put it off for a long time.

The next episode should be good too.

Also, have they slightly changed the Daenaerys storyline with Barristan and Mormont crawling through the sewers or is that still to come? It’s a bit hazy in my memory.

Reading all these twittercries and moans is glorious!

For that alone- Thank you GRRM, thank you so much!

I get the sense that Robb’s planned attack on the Lanisters has suffered a bit of a setback.

Just a flesh wound.
