Game of Thrones Season 3

Did anyone else catch that Sam failed to send the ravens when the Night’s Watch was attacked by the white walkers on the fist? To me, that was a huge character deviation. Sam tends to do the right thing, regardless of his cowardice/pyschological damage. He was becoming one of my favorite characters in the book.

Are they trying to remove him as a major character from the show?

Not sure of their intentions with Sam, and I said earlier this season will be a big deviation from the books, but in the book, Sam doesn’t send word of The Others attack as well … the ravens get loose, but he doesn’t attach any message

Polo, I wonder if the big deviations starting now have alot if not everything to do with the fact that the books are unfinished and Feast was a general let down for fans. That is why in my opinion at least they are stretching out the third book into 2 seasons(well that and there is just so much amazing material that editing anythign would be a crime).

I loved strong belwas too. I ended up binge watching season 1/2 because of this thread. Still cant bring myself to get through Feast for Crows…just such a long trek through boringville.

First of all, I was pissed they didn’t show the attack on the fist. I thought that would be the opener. Really ticked me off, and the show is popular enough to warrant budgeting for that scene.

That’s a good point about Sam. He was reliable in that particular scene but they just made him look like a complete doofus.

x2 on Strong Belwas. I still have hope he will make an appearance… who will taste the locusts?

I’d imagine all of your reasons were factors … I tend to think there’s just so much in Storm of Swords (Book 3) that there was no real way to condense it into one season.

I’ve read through the available series 3 times, and the first time I read Feast I thought that Martin might have had a stroke while writing it (yes the entire writing process he was having a prolonged stroke).

However, after reading Dance with Dragon and then re-reading the series, while it’s by far not as great as Clash of Kings of SoS, I appreciate Feast a lot more. There’s a lot in there that is important moving forward. I look at Feast kind of like a prologue to the rest of the series.

Yeah i keep hearing that and I have Dance with Dragons sitting on my night stand but just cant bring myself to keep going. Is DwD good enough to keep through it?

Put it this way, it has Dani, Tyrion, Jon Snow, Bran, and Reek (rhymes with Meek) among other characters … it’s worth slogging through Feast for

Also, keep this in mind, Dance with Dragons begins right after Storm of Swords ends … technically Feast and Dance are happening simultaneously … The last time I read the series I read them simultaneously but the last few chapters in Dance converge the two stories POVs

I am in the process of watching season 1 and season 2 again and the characters kill me…

Its not just the main characters, it is Jaime Lannister, answering to the whole “kingslayer” charges, it is the Eunuch which is more fleshed out than in the books…

I find the show not as enjoyable seeing how i read the books first. To me the mystery and shock of plot twists and deaths is what made the story so great. Seeing it played live and with just excessive nudity makes it fun but not something i can really get into. Anyone else who feels this too?[/quote]

ME ! ME !! 100% agree.

need a new thread for people who havent read the books yet…

I want a pet dragon very badly.

Exactly what I was thinking.

This thread isn’t “Game of Thrones Season 3” it’s “A Song of Fire and Ice Novels Discussion” lol

You know that there are people who do nothing all day but shoveling elephant dung?

Can you even imagine cleaning up after a dragon?

just train them to fly somewhere to poop, and/or have them burn it.

I see that you are very invested in the idea and who am I to disagree…

Well, go get a dragon then.

R.I.P.

In b/c I get excited in my pants at even the slightest whisper of this show. I’m in book 4 now which is definitely a lot drier and I find myself maybe jumping a paragraph ahead or 2 occasionally but so far I am at least remotely enjoying it. It definitely does not have the same “can’t put it down” qualities of the 3rd book though.

I’ve said it before … the 4th and 5th book act as a prologue to the rest of the series (that has yet been written or released) … at least that’s my perception of them
