Game of Thrones 2: A Clash of Kings

Still in book one, but these are pretty violent. I don’t think I could watch the HBO series if they get even more graphic. Although, I would like to see Bran get even with Jaime Lannister. And I think I need a direwolf.

If you like these, you might try Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett. Great book, with lots of brutal middle ages action. I know there’s a TV series of that one too, but I haven’t seen it.
The TV series was really good, not as bloody as GOT.

I’ve watched a couple of episodes of this show, from hearing the posts here. I can honestly say, it bored me to tears. How can this show be compared to Spartacus? Maybe I watched some bad episodes, but from what I saw, was just alot of talking. Wheres all the bloody violence, sex with hot young girls. None of that. Very dissapointing.

Spartacus is the better TV show, GoT is the better story. The books are where it’s at here.

If anything, they are running into the problem of having TOO MUCH source material to work from. If they stay 100% faithful, they run the risk of bogging down the story in minutiae. They can’t stray too far because their destination is set in stone.

I think the HBO people are doing a good job translating a very large story into hour-long bites. It is frustrating waiting for it from week to week though.

Spoilers and a crackpot theory maybe.

Does anyone else have the feeling once Barristan learns of Aegons existence, he will abandon Dany for Aegon. He did say he vowed to serve the rightful ruler of Westeroes and assuming Aegon is who we have been told its him.
Aegon can’t prove he is the who he is.
Dany has dragons and proven she has Targ blood ( immune to fire ).

Plus, if we are considering the whole bloodline thingy, then technically Dany still has a bigger claim.

Dany = Targ + Targ

Aegon = Targ + Dornish

Yeah I know that’s not how it works, just sharing some ideas.

Anyway I can almost forsee Dany will reject Aegon for one of those stupid reasonings only Dany’s insane targ brain can comprehend.

Wild speculations about Jon Snow, spoilers if you haven’t read ADWD.

I can’t recall if Ned’s promise to Jon, the one that went like “I’ll tell you about your mother when we next meet.” did happen in the first book or was just a TV thing.

Anyway, Ned’s got his head off and Jon went on living. Now Jon might be dead and what happens now ? He’ll meet Ned in whatever afterlife belongs to that universe, and the whole bastard thing will be revealed. Tada!

Wow so you are fat AND you cannot appreciate a decent series that is not dominated by slaves fucking other slaves.

Go eat some more tacos and lie about your inability to take a proper photo in the year 2012.

Delta. a lot of people on those fan based sites talk about Jon not really being dead. None of us can vouch for the truth until the next book, I for one hope he isnt.

Technically, all we know for sure is that he was stabbed. If he is dead, it has been established that the Red Priest/Preistess can resurrect the dead (eg. Dondarrion and Cat) so it wouldn’t be outside of the realm of possibility that he does die, but is resurrected.

However, it has also been established that choice people in the world of Westeros survive such brutal assaults (Tyrion basically had half of his face cleaved off and he’s still wondering around doing Tyrion things in Tyrion ways). I’m more than confident that Jon Snow’s story isn’t finished. Martin has big plans for Jon Snow that don’t involve dying by betrayal.

Wouldn’t Melisandre be able to bring him back too? She seems to be smitten with him, moreso than with Stannis. I don’t think she’s done a resurrection yet but it would make sense that she’s capable of doing so.

I could see Jon being in a coma for a while and having Ned come to him in a dream where he reveals his parentage. If it’s not Rhaegar and Lyanna I’ll be disappointed.

Otherwise I have no idea how he’s going to find out.

Yeah, especially the little guy.

You would have expected him to bite someones nuts by now, but he only plots and schemes…

I’m going to be disappointed if Arya doesn’t turn out to be sort of an Eowyn character.

Did anybody else notice that George R. R. Martin looks like he could be Peter Jackman’s father? Not to draw comparisons to Lord of the Rings. The film adaptations of the books were really well done, but still not nearly as GREAT as the books. Martin is no Tolkien, that’s for sure.

IIRC there is another guy who knows - it’s the lord who’s kids have been traveling with Bran. He may tell John the truth at some point.

Yea, in theory, Melisandre would be able to bring him back and she’s at the Wall so…

At least that’s my theory if he did “die” she should be able to bring him back based on what happened with Dondarrion and Catlyn and the Red Priest bringing them back (even though Dondarrion brought Cat back and sacrificed himself…but w/e)

This thread is ghey, its just full of spoilers.

“for sure”

I hope that HBO soon abandons the “One Season = One Book” thing. The books/story is too vast to condense 700-900 pages into 11-12 one hour episodes. They should expand the books to 2 seasons (part one and part two maybe?) and exted the series. That way they could leave in more details AND (almost more importantly) let the series run on a bit longer so that it doesn’t surpass the books since Martin writes slow as a mofo.

Just my thoughts. Book 5 is absolutely awesome. Every chapter is sweet so far… Will probably surpass book 3 as my favorite in the series.

I dont know how true this is but, i’ve heard hbo will merge a storm of swords and a feast for crows, and parts of ADWD due to the books being divided geographically and not chronologically.

This is also what I’ve heard.

Or, rather: I’ve heard that Storm will be split into two seasons, and that Feast and Dance will be combined and then split into 2-3 season, so that part of each book is covered per season.

It makes the most sense for HBO to run the story lines concurrently, if for no other reason than most views won’t be able to sit through an entire season dominated by Cersei, with little to no Tyrion.

More practically speaking, I imagine it might be an issue to have a few actors essentially take a season off.
