Gaining Weight

I don’t get why people don’t understand the concept that WHAT MATTERS MOST IS HOW MUCH OF WHAT IS CONSUMED AT THE END OF THE FUCKING DAY.

I don’t care if you IF or if you eat 10 meals a day…what matters is the amount consumed and the composition of such

Let’s try that again…WHAT MATTERS IS WHAT’S CONSUMED AND THE COMPOSITION OF SUCH.

The only reason why IF wouldn’t work for bulking is if someone has a newb stomach and can’t handle large meals in one sitting. That’s not me…that’s why I IF.

But, If I was one of the people described above, I’d eat a more split up meal schedule.

Both have benefits…both have negatives DEPENDING on the person.

Individuality. The best program is the one that produces the best results for you and is the easiest for YOU to adhere to. Bones has been hammering the concept of “amount consumed at the end of the day” over and over. But, many can’t grasp this fundamental concept.

Wait man, you thinking green apples, or red ones?
You sure you want skim milk one meal and then 1% later, that’s pretty crazy…
Jesus.

Do you really plan on eating the exact same thing every day?
Do people really do this?
They write up a day of nutrition and then just eat like that until they’re satisfied with their physiques, day after day…
I can’t imagine doing that, unless I was preparing for a bodybuilding event, are you a professional bodybuilder?

No, you’re 19, just like me, you know you never follow your diet, yet for some reason you think you can do something this specific and monotonous?
Every single day.
Do you see the jumps in logic?

Just fucking eat, and lift with intensity.
That’s all you need!

CT himself has stated numerous times that when bulking a higher level of bodyfat (up till 15%) is strongly preferable over the “I’m too pretty to let my abs disappear” 9-10%.

The IF mindset encourages staying lean and being obsessed with a very low BF, not something a beginner should prioritize. OP asked about a BULK and didn’t in any way cry about not having visible abs so I can’t understand why you IFans want to push that sort of eating plan here?

…and lol @ the rest of the forum sobbing, shrieking and throwing a hissy fit over IF vs. permabulk.

Nevar change, T-Nation.

i pretty much eat the same thing every day. Shopping is easier. Tracking calories is easier. cutting is easier. I’d eat dog shit six times a day if i thought it would make me bigger faster with no side effects.

I think you are oversimplifying both sides, and that it’s adding nothing to the discussion.

IF works well for some, hardcore eating-everything-in-sight works better for others. It depends on genetic tendencies toward muscle gain, fat storage, etc. Some will do just fine on the muscle gain front with IF, it’s not a cut and dry thing.

OP said he hasn’t really followed any sort of meal plan, so he probably just needs to fucking eat food consistently.

P.S. Christian Thibaudeau doesn’t even like the word “bulking,” so I’m not sure why your using him to defend the idea. Yeah, Thibs suggests eating to support your training- but I’ve yet to see him tell anyone to put on bodyfat in order to gain muscle. Eating enough to fuel gains =/= “bulking.”

In college i ate basically the same thing everyday because that was what was available and the only foods i liked in the dining hall.

You are another idiot. This eating plan was “automaticaly made” from a decent website for that. So his apples and skim milk were PROPOSED by the website. Also, I dont see any problem with fucking apples, stfu.

Because you cant do something (eat the same thing everyday) doesnt mean others cant or wont be able to, gtfo.

Yeah, swole.me is horse-shit. It’s random shit thrown together.
You’re 19. Do you honestly believe you’d measure 2 oz of pasta, 2 cup cottage cheese, 6 0z chicken breast and 1 oz of ground horse nipple meat to make a random and disgusting meal? Weighing all your food to the gram and preparing that shit? Is it possible that you are so naive to believe you would do this type of diet for more than a day?

Eat 2 pounds of meat a day, whole eggs, nut butter, potatoes, rice, whatever else you desire.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to squishing apples into cup and making eggs eggs.
I think generalizing about what someone would and wouldnt do isnt right. You might not be willing to do such things but to others this would be something pretty easy.

I know ive started weighting my food when I was 20, I really didnt think it was that much of a hassle.

Way to miss the point big guy, haha, I guess emotions run high around here for some of you huh?
Don’t worry man, it’s not meant to be a personal attack, and no don’t have a heart attack I’m not against apples or strict dieting.

I’m just saying that this kid stated in his original post that he has never followed a diet plan before, so what in the fuck makes you think he’s going to do it now? Yayaya I get that anybody can do anything if they put their mind to it, but shit, really?
You really think this will benefit more from a very strict, everyday eating plan?
Why not give this kid some general guidelines on how to eat?
Then he can have a life, have variety in his food, and he can actually maintain a healthy diet.

We’re not all as cool as zraw, some of us don’t have the patience for this minutia, doesn’t mean we’re lazy or stupid, it just means we have other shit to do besides counting our fucking macros… like lifting weights for instance.
But hey, if that’s your thing man, you measure your food all you want

Anyways to the OP, if you’re interested in a couple simpler guidelines to nutrition then just send me a PM, we can hash it out without people taking offense.

iVoodoo, diet guru extraordinaire. Make him hyooge breh.

Haha.

first of all

martin berkhan has more lean mass/is stronger than professor X

probably not CT, but CT and PX are 2 completely different people. don’t even put PX in the same sentence as CT, CT is actually legit and knows what he is doing while PX is a joke

secondly,

id be willing to bet that zraw’s physique >>>> iVoodoo’s physique

weighing food isn’t that hard with a digital scale. it takes all of 5 seconds and it allows you to be very precise with your diet. not saying it is necessary (at all), but if you think weighing food is going to “interrupt your lifestyle” to such a degree that you can’t do it, maybe the bodybuilding lifestyle isn’t right for you. you will have to make many more significant sacrifices if you actually want to reach a high level of development

General guidelines are harder to follow than an eating plan that you follow everyday, you dont have to ask yourself any questions.

You have to count macros only ONCE when following thhe same eating plan everyday

I didnt know eating same food everyday meant not having a life, sorry

Lifting weight doesnt take a big portion of my day

Weighting/measuring my food takes an even smaller portion, probably 1min/day

I didnt say you were lazy or stupid for not measuring your food. You are stupid for what you wrote. 2 different things

I’m curious about those “guidelines” why wait for a PM from the op, post them now?

Im also curious about how you look, care to share?

NVM about the last thing,

6’ 185lbs. lol
zraw wrote:

You measure first to get a sense of how your body deals with different amounts of calories and macros, as well as a sense of how much of a given macro is in a portion of [insert food item here]. After you are more experienced and can eyeball/feel it out, you move to general guidelines and such.

More importantly, if OP mentioned that he doesn’t follow strict diet guidelines now, and that he’s looking to put on mass (aka that his current practices are NOT putting on mass), why would you suggest that he not go on a strict diet? Doing the same thing and expecting different results? Yeah, that makes a lot of sense.

YOU SEE WHAT I DID THERE BRO???

I am in between college and med school and if my mom didnt have this thing about eating different food I would live off the same shit everyday. Easier would be the reason. You make up a shit ton of what ever and then just reheat. I have no reason to eat different things everyday or even every meal. I really dont care.
