Gaining phase / fat burn

It’s all in the thread that you said you were following so closely 20 days ago

Is this your reply to all of us?

At this point I need a pic.

Who said i was following it that closely?

But after looking over it again. Based on what you stated in one post.

Looks like your basically just getting back into it. 5 weeks you mentioned in a post correct in the previous thread. So yeah cleaning up a diet and just being consistent youll experince some muscle gain and fat loss.

Now it deepends on what your expectations are.

I agree, but it is a little weird. Like we wouldn’t come on and say “I’m really trying to pitch D1; how much soccer should I be playing to reach this goal?” I really don’t know why it’s so much harder to grasp here.

I also don’t think people really understand “gaining/ losing”. Like folks are worried about losing all their muscle and strength if they reduce calories when they’re 25% bodyfat because they don’t really understand what lean is.

Articles like the one he posted do not help the situation. People did not just magically believe they could gain pounds of muscle and get lean at the same time. Those with something to sell and looking for an edge pushed the idea.

I find the vasf majority of uneducated people believe exactly this, specifically referencing the idea of turning muscle into fat.

The lack of basic understanding of biology among the population is hard to appreciate. Although its similar with any topic. As a person with a formal education in politics, I get an earful every day, haha

They believe it because fitness influencers/supplement companies push the idea and sell it as “science” based. I coach people and it’s always “So and so said…” They are not drawing these conclusions on their own they are being marketed to.

I saw this well before the era of influencers. This is something my grandmother believed

From what I did in going from 165lbs to 240+lbs at about the same percent body fat in 10 years was my gaining phase. The difference was that I was always relatively lean (my guess is about 15% body fat.
I could always see major muscle group separation.)

Your problem is that you are not lean now. My thought is to get lean before starting the gaining phase.

I was never exposed to the idea of “bulking” and “cutting” as a strategy. My strategy was to always look beach ready. I did compete often. I had never heard of recomping. I just lifted weights to get bigger and stronger.

I appreciate the advice. Also, I am not ‘fat’. I’m not lean either, I’m probably 20% or so. We don’t have a scale in the house, not my decision, so I haven’t weighed in a bit. I am going to start dialing in macros to my lean weight + 1.1. So I am going to shoot for 230g and keep training, and dial up the HIIT to 6 days a week. I may just start a training log. Seems like I am lucky enough to have a fair amount of interest and support around here

I thought that article was ironic. I didn’t take it as any more than self serving but I did also like the idea of the athletes training at a deficit and putting on lean muscle

I’ve been training full body for maybe 9 months, but only the last 8 weeks going after it 5/3/1 after missing compound upper body. I have always had a thing for leg work, since my youngest days, so I never really lost sight of that.

I’ve actually been running two months of triumvirate. Wanted to get more reps on the compounds upper body without blowing out. Month three, now moving to BBB.

BBB is definitely a bad time to pursue fat loss.

If it’s actual HIIT, you won’t be able to accomplish this.

If you can do it 6x a week: it’s not high intensity

Also, this does NOT match the conditioning reqs for BBB…

At no point did I once say it was possible to turn muscle into fat.
I get a ruffled a few feathers on here with my idea that I felt bloated and was getting fat on a gaining diet. By all mean, if I disrupted this carefully cultivated members only knitting circle here with my writing, please forgive me. Also the guy who referenced the Krebs cycle wins the award for the top bro post I have seen in a long time.

I never claimed that you did.

Based on the rest of your post: I wish you the best of luck on your journey dude.

This tells me you need to diet and not worry about building muscle. “probably” usually means you are more than you think.
