Instead of the 5/3/1 original layout, you actually do 3/5/1 like the power lifting layout. So the first sessions are heavier than the 2nd sessions. Dont think of it as WEEKS, but as SESSIONS. You are going through a full 5/3/1 cycle every 2 weeks on this program, so it isnt quite the same as doing it by “week”
Session one is 3x3 with the “3’s week” percentages, then the following session you actually go LIGHTER and hit 3x3/5 with the “5’s week” percentages (Reps change based on the lift, see the PDF), followed by 5/3/1 (or 3/3/1 with the dead lift) This gives it a light/heavy/light/heavy/etc… layout instead of light/heavy/heavier progression.
