Full Capacity Training

I have become a bit of a ‘self medicator’ as weel. Hope between the PT and the ART guy you will get the pain under control

Well, it’s been a long road and a long time. I’ve been throwing money at the PT for a couple of weeks and the ART doc for a few weeks before that. All in all, the arm has been cramping my style since December. Prior to this if anyone ever told me that a bad case of tendinitis would force me to take the better part of 6 months off, I would have laughed in their face. Let’s just say I’m not laughing now.

I’m just starting to use the right arm. Sometimes it’s 50-70% better, other times it’s zip. One thing I can say for sure is that it better keep on improving because I’ve damn sure hit the wall writing checks and going to therapy appointments. And I’ve “rested” it to the point where I can’t stand it anymore. So I’m starting to lift a little here and there. It’s not great, but it beats sitting on my ass cryin’ about it.

We’ll see where the road leads now!

Cappy

Glad you’re back. Missed you. Hope the road leads to full recovery.

Good to see you coming back Cappy. Like hel said, I sure hope you well on the road to recovery

Thanks guys. Naturally, the biggest obstacle will be taking it S-L-O-W. The level of pain is such that I can pretty much just hunker down, grit my teeth and push through it, which is foolish at best. I know stupid is as stupid does, but I’m chomping at the bit to get moving. So it’s going to be tempting to ignore the pain. I’m good at that, but I’ll do my best to train smart. That said, sometimes brains are not my forte!

What is the saying; discretion is the better part of valor? Then I read “The Charge of the Light Brigade” and I forget the saying. No one knows your body like you. I know you will listen.

HOWEVER, you may want to question a wanna-be weight lifting sawmill guy that posts online analogies referring to the works of Alfred Lord Tennyson…

Cappy great to see you back!!!

I think people, really underestimate how crippling this is…
glad you are back!!!

Yup! (Raises hand) I didn’t get it until it happened to me. Years ago I even made fun of my mother when she got tendinitis in her elbow and it slowed her down. What an ass I was.

Yesterday was chest, shoulders, back, abs, rehab crap. Wasn’t prefect, but it was better than nothing. Cardio hasn’t changed much during all this down time.

Feels good to be “normal” sore today!

Power walked 40 min. on an incline today. Same old, same old. (Yawn)

Thanks for the encouragement and welcome back, folks!

Cappy

You know it cappy - keep on keepin’ on!

Instead of lifting I did a long, hard bike ride yesterday. First of the season. I’m sure it counts for something. (Discovered one of the gears bit the dust. Better get that fixed.) Now if it would just stop raining long enough to get a few of the horses out …

Look at the bright side if you cant ride the horses, with all this rain the skeeters will soon be big enough to ride!

Soreness feels good!

How are you doing, Mine had a resurgence- new program, lots of pressing-
go figure.

I was painting a room a week ago- and realized holding the small paint cup thing might have done me in-
painted a garage, a few rooms, and our apartment… holding the cup with arm at 90 like a curl.
not so smart of me.

Oh crap … what a coincidence … for months I’ve been putting off painting my “new” kitchen, hall, foyer, bath. I just started two days ago. I’m going to be very careful, but at the first hint of trouble I’m going to hire the job out. I’m usually too cheap to hire someone to do a job I know I can do myself, but at this stage of the game I’m NOT going to backslide!

It’s still not better, but it’s better than downright crippling. I have to keep a close eye on how much I do or it sets me WAAAAAAY back, then takes days to regain the ground I lost. Basically, it’s been the most debilitating, frustrating “injury” I’ve suffered since I started lifting, including my comeback from 3 major spinal surgeries … probably because the rest of me feels 110% and roaring to go, whereas after major back surgery you’re pretty screwed up from your head to your toes.

Maybe next time just paint a little at a time? (Ya think?) I guess type A’s are all alike, huh?
